Indoctrination Watch: Protests against military recruiters at schools nationwide tomorrow

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 5, 2009 04:27 PM

1antirecruit006.jpg

Last March, I published a special report on the Left’s war against military recruiters in the U.S. It’s a topic I’ve covered extensively over the years. Unhinged devotes a sub-section of my chapter “They Don’t Support Our Troops” to the organized campaign of harassment against recruitment offices on college campuses nationwide. The anti-recruiter thugs have thrived thanks to a combination of public indifference, law enforcement fecklessness, and left-wing ideological apologism. I have personal experience with the anti-recruiter propagandists, who lie through their teeth, exploit media sympathy, and harbor nothing but raw hatred for the men and women who protect and defend their rights to bitch and moan.

The anti-military zealots have never relented. Tomorrow, a recruiter-bashing organization called “We Are Not Your Soldiers” is holding a national protest on the anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. Schoolchildren are being encouraged to distribute letters “to all high school teachers you know.” When protesting, they are also being instructed “to assure the media are present.” They’ve set up a Facebook page. And, unsurprisingly, the driving force behind “We Are Not Your Soldiers” is the anti-American Communist-founded World Can’t Wait:

What are you going to stand for? As school starts back up, look around at the world that our generation is going to inherit.

Over 1 million Iraqis are dead in the war, and 5 million have been forced to leave their homes. Despite President Obama’s promise to remove US troops, he’s calling them advisors while leaving them in Iraq. The war in Afghanistan, which we’re told is the “good war” where the “real” terrorists are, is going into its ninth year. It’s based on lies, just like the war in Iraq. What the United States is doing there is horrible and brutal, torturing people and bombing civilians while they sleep, just like the war in Iraq.

Is this OK because Obama — and not Bush — is in charge?

Obama sent 21,000 more troops to kill and die in Afghanistan, and plans to increase the size of the military by 92,000. Where are these soldiers going to come from? They are your classmates and friends, your brothers and sisters.

This is why the military recruiters are everywhere these days – at school in the cafeteria, on college campuses, at the mall, in the video games and the TV commercials… lying and trying to suck youth into fighting their wars. They roll up in their Hummers talking about strength and discipline, about how the military will give you a “life with a purpose”. But what kind of purpose?

You can kill and torture innocent people – and probably ruin your own life because of what you’ve seen and done – for an empire that causes misery for the planet, or… you can be about putting an end to all that and creating a better world.

Imagine if school administrations and teachers didn’t allow recruiters onto campus. Imagine if students looked at recruiters as the predators they are and no longer considered the Army a legitimate “career option.” We need a culture of defiance and resistance to military recruiters in high schools across the country.

As I’ve documented, this call to “resistance” has been a call to violence and vandalism against ROTC officers and offices on campuses across the country. WCW and We Are Not Your Soldiers are making an aggressive push into classrooms…

Go to high schools either before or after school and talk to students about Oct 6th.

Ask them if they could be a part of showing the We Are Not Your Soldiers presentation in classrooms. Ask them if they know teachers who would would want them to show it in their classroom. See what the situation is like at the school, do they have recruiters? Do recruiters call them at home? What do they say? Are they thinking about joining the military? Why or Why Not? Do they think recruiters should be able to recruit in high schools or in their communities? We should really learn from the students and their experiences.

Go into high school classrooms and do a presentation with the We Are Not Your Soldiers film.

This is video footage of Iraq Vets and World Can’t Wait organizers speaking speaking in classrooms about the war crimes being committed in Iraq & Afghanistan and what it means to join the military. Anybody can do this! Then afterwards talk with students about what kind of actions they want to do to stop this then make sure to give them the we are not your soldiers survey, so we can find out what students think.

…and on YouTube:

Parents, be forewarned and forearmed. Are your school officials prepared for the protest? What will they be doing to provide a counterbalance to anti-military bigotry — and to protect ROTC officers and offices on campus? Speak up.

    These people(?) are not worthy of the protection provided to them by the U.S. Military. They have proved that over and over again. they would rather see a good man(or woman) die than every acknowledge the debt of gratitude they owe to the Military. In fact, they would be happy if all of their protectors were to be killed, preferably in the most horrible way possible, leaving the United States vulnerable to attack from the outside/inside – wherever.

    I have nothing but contempt for them, yet my duty is clear – they have the same right to free speech as I do. I could do nothing less than defend their rights. The difference being, I would defend their right to death, but they would do everything in their power to deny me my rights.

    They aren’t worthy to wipe the sweat off a recruiter’s face.

    At a parent-teacher conference, the very liberal 5th grade teacher explained why my honor-student “earned” a bad grade in civics/social studies. He explained that my son had a bad attitude that showed up when dealing with another student. My son didn’t get along with this kid for various reasons (goth, athiest, negative, rude to the girls, etc.) so he just ignored the kid. Well attitude is everything in my home so he knew he was in some trouble when the conference was over (I gave him the look).

    He said, “Dad – I’m sorry but I just couldn’t stay quiet”. It seems that the other kid was telling the class that the military was causing all the problems in the world and that soldiers were murderers (liberal teacher was allowing this) — to which my son stood up and told him that “…the soldiers were fighting so you can be so stupid!”. I just smiled and told him that grade was the best one he ever earned. I’m awfully proud of my son (he is now 15 and wants to be a Navy Seal by the way).

I just helped my wife write an essay about some of Langston Hughes’ work, an ethnocentrist POS “literary” genius undeserving to be considered for literature books. I ripped him up, though I was prepared for a poor grade by the teacher based on our criticism. I think the teacher was smart enough dodge that bullet and graded the paper highly (as it warranted) because I would have nailed him for it if I’d though he’d graded lower on it due to its just criticism of Hughes’ racial crap he wrote in his poems. We have to fight these crap weasels where ever they are.

    Then they’ll learn the results of not having a strong and effective Military!

    Tre, they can also talk to a Kuwaiti or this era.

    Very good points.

    These Can’t-wait people are fools and cowards and don’t deserve to be setting foot on the soil of the United Sates of America.

    At our kids “back to school night” a former student of one of our child’s teachers came back to say a few kind words about that teacher. The young lady was well spoken, thoughtful and respectful and possessed a sense of maturity beyond her years. She also happened to be enrolled in the ROTC program in her school and was dressed accordingly. She had just started and she said she enjoyed it and was looking forward to the challenge.

    Many of the parents stopped to talk to her and wish her good luck.

    No one asked her to be there. She appreciated the role the teacher played in her life and said she wanted to say thank you. And the teacher was clearly proud of this student.

    I think our military, and in particular the ROTC programs, can do great things for young people. This young lady was impressive.

    Oh yeah…. she was in 9th grade.

    As long as they feed on taxpayer-funded schools, they don’t have any moral authority to obstruct taxpayer-funded recruiters at those schools. Don’t want to fight? Don’t join the military.

    speakeasy; your analysis of when riots, looting and mayhem are the order of the day, these code pinkos will of course demand protection. i believe i hear that same refrain in the black communities across america, because police used to enforce the laws, and then juries of blacks let the miscreants off, then black activists like sharpton decided police were a target for winning the lawsuit lottery if they enforced the law against rodney, so now the police turn a rather blind eye to the mayhem in the ghetto. same thing with the people who defend us in time of war. if we abuse them, they may not be there when we need them. AND IT’S ONE, TWO, THREE WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING FOR?

    TOMMY

    I went into a public-’ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
    The publican ‘e up an’ sez, “We serve no red-coats here.”
    The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
    I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
    O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, go away”;
    But it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play,
    The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
    O it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play.

    I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
    They gave a drunk civilian room, but ‘adn’t none for me;
    They sent me to the gallery or round the music-’alls,
    But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
    For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, wait outside”;
    But it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide,
    The troopship’s on the tide, my boys, the troopship’s on the tide,
    O it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide.

    Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
    Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap;
    An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
    Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
    Then it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, ‘ow’s yer soul?”
    But it’s “Thin red line of ‘eroes” when the drums begin to roll,
    The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
    O it’s “Thin red line of ‘eroes” when the drums begin to roll.

    We aren’t no thin red ‘eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
    But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
    An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
    Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
    While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, fall be’ind”,
    But it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind,
    There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
    O it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind.

    You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
    We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
    Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
    The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
    For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
    But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
    An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
    An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy sees!

    20-year AF vet, now retired, with a few years of recruiting experience–I can vouch for these guys/gals who represent their respective services out in civilian land. So, Bring It – these recruiters will surprise you. So bring it, you punks, but don’t cry when you don’t like how it all turns out.
