Halloween came early to the White House

Another Kabuki moment brought to you by the Obama theatrical troupe, via the NYPost:
President Obama yesterday rolled out the red carpet — and handed out doctors’ white coats as well, just so nobody missed his hard-sell health-care message.
In a heavy-handed attempt at reviving support for health-care reform, the White House orchestrated a massive photo op to buttress its claim that front-line physicians support Obama.
A sea of 150 white-coated doctors, all enthusiastically supportive of the president and representing all 50 states, looked as if they were at a costume party as they posed in the Rose Garden before hearing Obama’s pitch for the Democratic overhaul bills moving through Congress.
The physicians, all invited guests, were told to bring their white lab coats to make sure that TV cameras captured the image.
But some docs apparently forgot, failing to meet the White House dress code by showing up in business suits or dresses.
So the White House rustled up white coats for them and handed them to the suited physicians who had taken seats in the sun-splashed lawn area.
All this to provide a visual counter to complaints from other doctors that pending legislation is bad news for the medical profession.
Obamacare has been attracting dubious doctors and dangerous posers all year.

How many of the 150 white coats were actually doctors or do they just play one for Acorn?
Has anyone checked where the doctor’s came from. My guess is they work at the sub-standard VA Hospitals and were told if they didn’t attend they would be terminated from the government paid jobs. What would they do then? Work at the local humane society for PETA?
It might be interesting to get a detailed list of these individuals broken down by state (and perhaps party affiliation just for fun). As a public service, such a detailed list would certainly be useful to those wanting to know which doctors to avoid.
I wonder if she was there?
if they accepted the invitation, I would question their credentials or their agenda.
Come ObamaCare dubious doctors and dangerous posers will be the norm. We can continue to import doctors from India and Africa for awhile–just bring you own translator.
Yep, there are doctors who support reform and there are doctors who do not support reform.
The photo op is the mother’s milk of political theater. It is not the first photo op in the history of politics and it will not be the last.
Will Pres Obama have a photo op to pardon a turkey for Thanksgiving? I suspect there will be a phot op. When was the last time there wasn’t one for this ocaission?
Bingo!
The Downstream Media, instead of asking that question, just regurgitates the B.O.s talking points.
Fortunately, the intelligent people ARE asking that question.
The question is whether these are actual practicing physicians – the term doctor is a non sequitur IMHO as there are many persons who have earned the title of doctor, yet have nothing to do with the practice of medicine.
And as others have noted, this administration and its supporters have a record of citing as experts people who are no such thing.
Obama gathers 150 doctors to the White House to support his version of reform and it makes national headlines.
On 9/10/09 there was a rally of doctors and nurses (around 1000 doctors and nurses in attendance)in DC to support a more conservative approach to health care reform(Zygg your comment about doctors against reform is truly pathetic as I think most would agree that everyone feels that health care reform is important we just differ on what reform is); yet no coverage.
I guess they should have used the white coat stage craft to get their message across.
Addendum: The fact that the news account used the terms physician and doctor interchangeably means very little; I seriously doubt the press checked the credentials of the 150 conveniently white coated individuals in attendance.
The bottom line: I don’t trust anything that comes out of this White House. They haven’t earned that trust.
One was here in Central Oregon, bragging in the paper. I will certainly avoid her.
If we get this monstrosity, just wait till a docter finds herself on a long waiting list, or wait till hospitals and clinics fire them because they can’t afford to keep a large staff.
Plant alert! Dr. Alice Chen, who is featured in this story from the S.F. Chronicle is a “progressive” who works with the Democrat Party’s Organizing for America.
Open this website and scroll down…
This was the very first article I came to after Googling “Obama+Doctors”. No doubt there are many more plants for the Obama’s garden.
I’m sure none of those doctors are wealthy, as they practice medicine out of pure altruism rather than the evil profit motive. Maybe that’s the real reason that some didn’t have lab coats: they couldn’t afford it. At any rate, each one, assuming they are real doctors, advocates theft by government to pay for their services. They are harming themselves, their patients, and the taxpayers.
Obama and his gaggle of left wing idiots would be knee slapping hilarious if they weren’t so damn dangerous.
IIRC, some 45% of Doctors have said that they will retire or quit if Obamacare passes. Those 150 at the White House are going to have a lot of shoes to fill!!
I can get a white coat at any uniform or costume shop. Until I see the list with each “doctor’s” name, credentials and where they practice, they’re just extras on the White House stage.
BTW, zzyg, most of us commenting on this site aren’t against “reform”. We are against the massive inefficient government takeover of yet another private industry by the federal government. You know, the guys who wreck everything they touch.
from Foxnews…
I would suggest that everyone find out if there doctor is a member of Doctors for America…if so find another doctor who is more interested in his/her patients rather than politics…
Thank you for looking that up. I was just thinking that San Francisco didn’t have any doctors yesterday. Maybe Nazi Nancy flew them in?
I saw one of the Obama “Doctors For America” on the Lehrer News hour (transcript). He’s an oncologist named Dr Hershey Garner and he’s in the picture (Hippie looking dude).
I actually thought (the counterpoint) Dr. Palmisano of coalition to protect patients’ rights shredded him on merits. Garner sounds like a bleeding heart (I think its ok to be idealistic) but spouts Obamacare talking points.
Garner used the stupid fedex, ups, usps analogy, which I would’ve shredded him on, but Palmisano was polite. He also implied that there was no other plan offered (Coburn/Ryan?).
He didn’t say anything about the lucrative tonsilectomy and foot amputation business that Obama alleged. I’m still waiting for that to be quantified.
After reading the WSJ editorial this morning[sorry don't have a link], my first instinct regarding the Doctors at the White House yesterday, was to follow the money. The editorial explains how the Administration is is using regulation to reimburse GP’s a greater percentage in Medicare payments, which necessarily will take away resources for Specialists. As GP’s are traditionally on the lower end of the medical money chain, this is welcome news for them. I would like to know if those Doctors at the White House yesterday were Specialists or GP’s.
Alas, for this White House, Halloween doesn’t come just once a year. it will be scaring us all the year round.

Ha! Stealth astroturfing name change at the “community organizing” page for plant doctor Alice Chen of Doctors for Obama, oops, I mean Doctors for America:
Showing up in lab coats… participating in a circus…come on, docs, you know better than that. Yes, I would like to see who showed up to be in this “halloween party”. Waste of time that could be spent with patients.
After reading this story I went to the Whitehouse.gov website to make a comment. The only way the site would accept my comment was if I used the “message of support” subject line provided by the web page. Hillarious!
With Obama everything is an AstroTurf photo op ..
After being well trained by repeated behavior patterns from the leftists-liberals-Democrats-Obama school of behavior modification, I have reached a point at which I don’t trust “The Messiah,” The Savior of the World, The One, Mister Hope and Change, Mister “Yes, We can!”
Translated: I don’t trust Barrack Husein Obama.
Ergo I do not believe that 150 men, women, and/or children attending an event which involves Obama, his ilk, and his/their agenda, are all actually doctors, but that many, most, or all of them are pretending to be doctors for effect, for a photo op.
My distrust is legitimate and authentic and expected due to the fact that The Messiah has already exercised such deception numerous times over the past few years, planting operatives in the audience for Town Halls, Debates, Speeches, etc., and engaging them for effect as if he did not know who they were or that he intended to employ them for effect.
Liar, Liar, Your pants are on Fire!
And the number of non-doctors dressed in white coats was?
The spokesman for this group is the guy with the ponytail. I just can’t see myself going to a 60-ish doctor who wears a ponytail. Probably removed his earrings and other body piercing acoutrements for the occasion. That would be too much.
You forgot, mmm, mmm, mmm!
I used to pass myself off as a doctor. In my old job in software field support, I volunteered more than anyone else to be on call 24×7. I was an on-call-ogist!
I’m not at all shy about quizzing my doctors on a multitude of subjects in addition to my personal issues. Of the 4 doctors I’ve seen in the last 2 months – which includes a cardiologist, a director of medicine for a very well-known hospital, an eye surgeon and a GP – not a single one has anything good to say about Obamacare, and one is considering early retirement from the profession.
These “doctors” remind me, unfortunately, of “cops” I sometimes see lined up behind politicians whenever a new anti-gun bill is introduced. Ever notice their holsters are unfailingly EMPTY? Posers.
Ummmm, OK.
Are you suggesting that I believe, or have said, everyone blogging here is against healthcare reform? If so, where did you get that idea?
Two questions:
Were these all doctor doctors, or were some/many/most/all of them PhD-type doctors?
Also, aren’t these the same folks that Obama villainized back in July and August for doing tonsillectomies and amputations because they’d get more dough?
Just askin’.
These are probably doctor/lawyers, you know, the doctors who don’t want tort reform.
LOL–I’m worse than that: I avoid any ‘her’ MDs.
Oh, by the way; a PhD is a ‘doctor’ too. But they can’t practice medicine.
My local RAG found ALL the MDs from AZ that were there… All one of her had all kinds of great comments to make… MMM,MMM,MMM…
Actually I only “partially” agree with this statement. I think most of us are against government reform of the health care/insurance system except to the extent of dismantling it. I’d posit that the majority of the problem with the system(s) as they exist today are government caused. The last thing we need are more laws and regulation. What we need are sane laws.
This astroturf photo op reminds me of the flyover in NYC because it is just more proof of how incredibly childish and moronic this administration is. Who is advising the POTUS…a 10-year-old? Seriously, they just look stupid.
Amen.
A double Amen…if there is such a thing.
They look like a freakin cult.
I want to get this straight – so a DR took the day off, canceled all their patient appointments, and spent their own money to fly across the country from Idaho so they could show support for Obamacare? Um yeah.
Why do I not believe that?
A lot of those doctors are white. I wonder if they have hoods to go with those coats? /snark
Here’s an unintentionally amusing account of Dr. Alice Chen’s terrible experience with the 9/12 Project rally in D.C. An excerpt of her “observations”:
Flyoverman,
May I tried to solve this mathematical equation?
Thank you.
Let’s see … there are 150 men and woman who are attending a promotion of His health care bill agenda by Barrack Hussein Obama. He wants them to wear white lab coats so they can appear to be doctors.
Let’s see,
That would mean … 150 non-doctors pretending to be doctors, wearing white lab coats in order to promote Obama’s Big Government, Socialist Agenda.
Answer = 150
The white coats were a nice touch but they should have also passed out stethoscopes as well in case anybody missed the point that these were actual, real-live doctors supporting Obama-Kennedy Care. And just in case this stunt doesn’t get the required response from the masses I suggest they have an event inviting actors who play doctors and nurses on one of the many medical dramas plaguing the airwaves. That should shore up support among his American Idol/People Magazine constituency.
Here is a great web site for information on all of this (it is busy right now, so keep trying).
It’s not like they’re really doctors, they just spent the night at the Holiday Inn…
These people were doctors:
Dr Giggles
Dr Frankenstein
Dr Jekyll aka Mr Hyde
Dr No
Dr Love (they call me…)
Dr Evil
Looks like a bunch of them flew over the cuckoo’s nest! Which one is Nurse Ratched and when the heck is “Medication Time”?!
SNORK!
I like the caption Laura Ingraham has for the photo-op: Finally… the men in the white coats come to take him away!
If only…. But then we’d have Joe the Biden as POTUS.

Were they real doctors, or do they just play one on TV? And we’re the astroturf. BHO reminds me of a former boss. He’d call us all into a meeting for a discussion hoping that we’d come to the conclusion that he had already made. We never did ; he went with his plan and we learned that we wasted our time. So after a while we just told him to decide without us since we knew he already had.
I told my wife when I heard about the speech that it would be PHDs, not MDs that showed up. Apparently I was close – they were liberal clowns playing dress up.

There is a site called http://www.sermo.com It’s a social site for working doctors so to get on you need to have a valid medical license. It has a membership of over 110,000 and this is about equal to the AMA. Anyway, they did a survey not too long ago and about 98% of sampled doctors voted their opposition to this health care push. The sample size of this survery was about 10,000.
These “doctors” on the White House lawn were invited and bussed in, then handed props for a photo op. Their views represent a very small minority of American doctors, just as the views of this current administration represent a small minority of Americans.
The Obama Administration will be remembered for it’s manipulation of the press; Image and Photo Ops! Not the governance one would expect from adults entrusted with dolling out truth, transparency, and justice for all Americans.
This Halloween, and those of the next three years, will be remembered as The Era of Tricks and No Treats…

Okay, someone else take over. We can get 150 easy!
I would not be the least bit surprised to find out that your answer is correct.
Non-doctors = 150 = audience
BTW, someone made a crude comment about VA docs. The ones I know and have worked with are patriotic Americans who want to help out wounded and ill soldiers. Many of them have served in the millitary and afterwards continued to work in an underpaid environment because of their loyalty to this country and its servicemen. If you ask most of them about politics, you will hear conservative views. Their patients are also mostly conservative Americans.
Dr. Crusher was, in a word, HOT. I’d put her up against any of the gorgeous TV characters of any era.
Sadly, we are all forgetting the very real threat that Obamacare could very well bring us the next …

One African-American male, Dr. Richard Evans. Check.
One white female, Dr. Amanda McKinney. Check
What now Hispanic?
Three more that can be added:
Doc Watson
Marcus Welby, M.D.
Dr. Spock
I just read in the latest issue of Townhall magazine that Obama’s quote of $50,000 for an amputation would actually be in the neighborhood of $800-$1400 dollars. So basically, he just pulled that figure out of his a**. And remember, the Dr. has a staff to pay and office expenses, malpractice insurance etc.

On a very serious note, we cannot let them sign any health bill. I’ve had ME for 20 yrs. You will not read or hear about myalgic encephalomyelitis because the NIH, CDC and WHO have done everything in their power to make sure you never will.
It took decades for them to say Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was a real disease and then changed the DX criteria to make it a mental disorder. Science has proved them wrong and they don’t like it.
First Obama demonizes the doctors then when he needs them uses them as props.
What is funny is that these doctors seem to have a very short memory. Perhaps they need a check-up.
I know one of the doctors. One of the better oncologists in Hawaii. Why he wants socialized medicine I have no idea, particularly since anyone in Hawaii who is employed at least 20 hours a week has health insurance. My physician is a conservative.
No Dr J?
Did the White House release a list of these doctors? I am sure that if the list is released, we will see that many of the doctors in attendance were activists and contributors to Democrat candidates. The myth is that all doctors are Republicans. Not true. Howard Dean is a doctor and a leftist. I would not be surprised if some of the doctors in attendance were active in the proabortion movement and gave money to proChoice groups. Clinton pulled this stunt many times by having limousine liberal doc show up at White House events. And why is nobody in attendance at this White House production even mentioning tort reform, the most vital issue in the world today. It would not surprise me if many of the docs in attendance also were not MDs but chiropracters. Or maybe the White House found some guys who cut toe nails and called them foot doctors.
Who are these people? I have been in laboratory safety for 25 years. A lab coat is to be worn in the laboratory/clinic and is supposed to stay there. Lab coats are personal protective equipment. They are to protect the wearer in case of spills onto themselves. Most labcoats have chemical, radioactive and biohazard contamination on them. NOT TO BE WORN IN PUBLIC!
Doctors who support Obamacare
Geez, it’s all political theater witht his administration. It’s not an administration of actual ideas, it’s an administration that uses people, promotes a brand to sell to a hapless people who this administration thinks needs to be taken “care” of. I’m just tired of it. Too bad the schmucks who voted for this pretender-in-chief just don’t have a clue.
I really think Obummer missed his calling in Hollywood. He would have made a good director. Somebody who so interweaves his life with fantasy it’s hard to separate either one.
When was the last time you saw your physician wearing a lab coat that reached down to the knees? My MD is a little more stylish than that. I’m waiting for the gathering of RN’s that wear the old school nurses hats…heh! (This faux pas by the Magnus Axlerodii shows how out of touch these people are, IMHO)
Word has it that the DR.s were supposed to bring their own lab coats, but some forgot…the White House, thinking ahead, just happened to have some on hand…uh huh. Kinda like the little pile of stones on that stoneless beach that Bill Clinton just happened to stumble upon during his Normany/D-Day tribute…y-e-a-h…
It makes me wonder…what was more important? The gathering of these idiot doctors, or the photo op that followed?
The photo op has my vote.

Some of those ‘doctors’ likely don’t know their rectum from a hole in the ground – to quote my grandfather
happyscrapper and Desert Dave,
Do you understand the significance and the gravty of the situation if what you say is true?
If Barrack Hussein Obama gets most of his ideas from out of His as@, then that means the area where his main neurological organ is housed, where thought procesesses are generated is in His a@s.
The colon, rectum, anus, etc., is the area through which we eliminate waste.
That means that Dear Leader has sh#$ for brains.

The White House obviously forgot the red-rubber noses and clown-shoes to complete the official dress-code.
Robert Gibbs will explain the slight oversight in tomorrow’s press briefing, as well as his promotion to the new post of “Media Information Czar”.

Mister P, I believe that Dr. was on Lars Larson’s show yesterday after her return to Oregon from D.C….she called him before his how today…some of her cohorts are not too happy with her interview on his show stating she’s all for public option, nor were some of her patients and patients of other Dr.’s in the clinic. Patients have called and said their moving on to other clinics. she decided it was best if she didn’t have a follow up interview with Lars…wow! talk about educated and still a dolt.
