Maxine Waters: “Many members” are as sleazy as my friend Charlie Rangel; Update: House Dems move to quash Remove Rangel resolution, 243-156

Scroll for updates…

House floor votes are underway. As I noted this morning, GOP Rep. John Carter is set to introduce a resolution this afternoon to remove corruptocrat/tax cheat/race hustler Charlie Rangel from his chairmanship of the House Ways & Means Committee.

He tweets this afternoon: “About to introduce the Rangel Resolution on the House Floor. We’ll see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters mounts her best defense of her buddy Rangel: Congress is full of sleazoids as bad as Charlie!

Ok, she didn’t say sleazoids…but she might as well have:

“Many members” of Congress suffer from the same disclosure issues as Rep. Charles Rangel (D.N.Y.), one of his allies said Wednesday.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) downplayed the seriousness of allegations against Rangel that he failed to disclose sources of income and pay taxes on some properties, saying that many lawmakers suffer from innocent lapses in judgment when filing mandatory financial disclosure forms.

“I want to tell you, there are many members who, if you go back over all of their records, over all of the years, you’re going to find that there were disclosures that were not made,” Waters said during an appearance on MSNBC Wednesday morning.

Birds of a feather indeed.

Flashback: Culture of corruption: Banking hypocrite Maxine Waters

Update. 1:30pm Eastern.

As promised, GOP Rep. John Carter introduced his resolution to remove Rangel from his committee chairmanship. He read reams and reams of MSM articles blasting Rangel’s whitewashing and repeated disclosure lapses. The Democrats tried to interrupt him by challenging his floor privileges. Rep. Carter was allowed to finish speaking. The clerk then began reading the full text of the resolution into the record — which Democrats also tried and failed to prevent.

Then, Rangel’s Democrat CYA team introduced a motion to punt on the issue and instead refer the resolution to the Ethics Committee.

15-minute vote now underway.

Update. 1:48pm Eastern.

Rangel dodges the bullet again with a little help from his corruption-enabling friends.

Final vote tabling Carter’s resolution to remove Rangel from W&M chairmanship: 243-156. 19 voted present. 3 REPUBLICANS joined the Democrats. Will post roll call vote as soon as it is up.

Here you go: The 3 Repubs who joined Ds to table remove Rangel resolution: King (NY), Rohrbacher & Young (AK).

Ever wonder how many Congressmen go to Congress basically broke and after about 6 years end up being millionaires?

Sadly, she is right about the rest of her congressional colleagues.

Do a google on Dennis Hastert. He was a wrestling coach before being elected making about $17,000 a year and was flat broke. When he left Congress, he had a net worth of over 5 million. Tell me how that is possible working for a paycheck with taxes being deducted and no other visible income?

Same thing with Diane Feinstein. She now has a net worth in the Billions!!

It is a sad commentary that many people in our Congress are criminals, even felons like Alcee L. Hastings (D – FL) who is a convicted felon, a former federal judge convicted of taking bribes before he ruled on cases.

    Some criminals serving in Congress.

I am positively sure that Maxine knows sleaze when she sees it. If she has any mirrors in her bathroom she sees sleaze daily.

She has a conflict of interest problem at least as large as Murtha. Pelosi does not pay US Minimum wage in her canneries in Samoa and Reid’s sons have made millions as lobbyists.

Felons should be in Prison, not in Government.

LMAO. This is comedy central. Our congress critters are so busy bailing each other out of trouble and making excuses for each other, their pitiful little minds are too overloaded to deal with anything else productively.
    So sad.

And people will still vote for her, and Rangel too for that matter.

We get the government we deserve.

We need to find a way to qualify voters. The founders only allowed land owners to vote. Now we have way too many people voting that just don’t have a clue and only are looking for what they can get, voting racially, etc. At a minimum you should be a taxpayer (except for sales taxes/fees) for whatever level vote you are placing (eg: city, county, state, federal).

Talk about sleazy, did anyone else catch this? Mark Sanford sent David Letterman a sympathy note.

    Sanford sent Letterman warm wishes.

“Both my thoughts and my prayers are with him,” he said Tuesday after a speaking engagement at a Rotary Club meeting in Easley, S.C.

“There’s a lot more introspection and soul-searching on the way down than there is on the way up,” said Sanford, who is under investigation by South Carolina’s Ethics Commission, in addressing his woes as well as Letterman’s. “He can be a better person for it.”

How dense is this guy? Why is he sending notes in the first place? This guy sees himself as a martyr!

Isn’t it interesting how so many of the country’s smartest people, most of whom are lawyers (and aren’t afraid to let you know just how smart they are,) have all these lapses, and oversights?

These, the same people who can’t take the time to read the proposed bills prior to voting, and are so overwhelmed with work (what are their work days and hours again?)

They are in power, and are above the law, and they know it. How long will they be able to trade on the notion that they are smart enough to do the job?

Blood is shooting out of my eyes!!!

I called for a presidential candidate leadership qualification exam the other day. I think we need a congresscritter leadership qualification exam as well. Then, we should make it manditory that all of these people recertify every year to prove that they can do their jobs. Certification should be the responsibility of a separate branch of government with it’s own chain of command. Voting is not enough. Boxer’s “Integrity Committee” is a useless, laughable, ineffective waste of time. These people are running wild with virtually no adult supervision.

I have no problem with going back over the records. Anyone else who violated the rules should also be removed from their chairmanship (if they have one.) I’m all for that.

The moral of this story seems to be that if you are a democrat you can violate ethics rules all you want. If you’re ever caught, just call for an investigation and continue to act as if the ethics laws don’t apply to you. Before the investigation finishes, announce that you have just discovered another possible “inadvertent” violation of the rules on your part. This will force them to expand their investigation, which will basically restart the clock.

Using this scheme you can continue to use your office to get rich and avoid taxes until you are voted out of office or die. What’s the worst that could happen to you under current House management?

    The question I have is:

Will any thinking Democrat voter actually understand this issue and begin to realize that there is something systemically wrong with their party as a whole? Or are they mostly brain-dead?

You gave me an idea…why not start a movement and everyone send their congresscritter a box of Ex-lax?

Yep, that should do it (on many issues).
