The theory it self is not evil, the professor may be or not be evil. Stanford repression of knowledge IS evil. Of course it is only protecting revenue streams, but choosing money over knowledge is evil for an institution of learning. But that “little” evil is nothing compared to the evil of those eagerly use this theory to rob people of FREEDOM…these people know that it is just an unproven theory, but grab it eagerly. Of course they have no problem renaming it from Global Warming to Climate Change….what ever…..as long as they can use it to KILL FREEDOM. Far to many people in our government believe that they and only they know how the masses must live, that they will not do so willingly so they must be forced,

I graduated in 1965, just before they started burning the ROTC building, etc.

I did get to vote for Goldwater in '64 though!! And Ronald Reagan FOUR times!

Irony of this story: the Stanford motto seems to have been dumped on the ash heap of history.

Valerie - I got that issue of the alumni/ae magazine the day the Van Jones story really broke - irony, indeed.

Okay, I will grant that I have heard evidence of lighter roof colors deflecting heat, keeping temps cooler. He's (Chu) still a goof if he was the one that wanted to also paint streets white. Talk about a waste of precious resources...the $ in man hours to do that! I've heard no Progressives saying the money would be better spent in a thousand other ways. It all comes back to a boondoggle waste of money and redistribution of wealth.

I doubt it would amount to much savings. As far as climate, consider how small a number the total roof space is vs. area of planet (3/4 is H2O). Seems pretty stupid just by using simple reasoning. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to detect stupidity.

The savings on my roof are mine. I'm not talking about lowering global temps.

GISS compiles its reports by collecting the USHCN temperature readings and then subjecting them to secret adjustments, allegedly to correct for artificial influences such as land-use changes.

I love "secret adjustments" as a scientific tool...

I like trees too.

Really.. we have to push Lindsey Graham OFF the pickle boat altogether. He doesn't have a brain and therefore doesn't deserve to call himself a republican.

“To get a bipartisan bill on climate change, you're going to have to make it attractive for Republicans to vote for a cap-and-trade system,” Graham said

Lindsey, if there is not ONE iota of empirical data to indicate that ALL GHG cause global warming let alone the TINY amount that we add to them then WHY CREATE AN "ATTRACTION" TO SUPPORT A LIE?

The better idea is to plant trees all over the place because, instead of reflecting heat or absorbing heat to emit later, they just grow and keep things cool.

Agree on Chu, but reflecting sunlight off the roof rather than absorbing it can keep your building cooler in summer, and reduce your air-conditioning bill a bit.
