I half-agree with you here — I don’t think it’s just a “coincidence,” but I am not willing to let Rush off the hook for any backlash he receives; he has rightfully earned it. I refuse to accept that this is all a fabrication that has nothing to do with anything he has ever said or done, or the inflammatory persona he has spent 20 years creating and profiting from, that it’s everyone else’s fault because they can’t handle the truth. Please.

I’m calling BS on this tired notion that some prominent figures on the right are being persecuted and victimized by some faceless, conspiring entity in a manner that is any different than they do to their own political opponents. Rush is a character assassin and race-baiter as much as the likes of Sharpton and Olbermann, some of you just condone it (or are completely oblivious to it) because he speaks to your political interests. Whether or not he is a racist is not a concern of mine – that’s not an accusation I toss around lightly — but I know for a fact he does occasionally make racially provocative comments, and it appears he benefits from the attention far more than he suffers …well, except for this one time.

And really, what does this have to do with Keith Olbermann? Does he own a sports team that I am unaware of? But since you brought it up, I would like to go on record right now as fully disavowing and disapproving of Keith Olbermann as a sexist, self-serving pseudo-progressive who sees nothing wrong with degrading women with violent, misogynistic commentary that I personally find both distasteful and disturbing. The “bag of meat” comment is vulgar and gross on so many levels I don’t even know where to begin, but I refuse to accept that as being a reflection on me simply because it came from Olbermann’s mouth. He does not and never has represented me or my beliefs, and I am ashamed to have someone like him claiming he does. If he tries to buy a football team I would be happy to see him shot down, although I doubt being a misogynist is a disqualifying trait in the NFL.

But they’re not mine, and they’re not the property of “the left.” They would belong to the people — whoever they are — who decided to deny Rush the priveledge of purchasing a football team. If these people turn around and sell the team to Keith Olbermann or Al Sharpton, you’ve got yourself a pretty strong case that those specific individuals are acting in bad faith. But the idea that this is part of an ongoing vast left-wing conspiracy to keep conservatives down is absolutely ludicrous.

So the fact that the entire Same Stream media, not just one news station somewhere in obscurity, but the ENTIRE NATIONAL MEDIA propagates a KNOWN SERIES OF OUTRIGHT LIES about the man for days and not one investigation of the veracity, and a congress woman (Sheila Jackson) makes comments about the appropriateness of Rush not being a part of the purchase because of his supposed views, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are on TV talking about why Rush shouldn’t be a part of the NFL, and professors from black universities are consulted to pontificate on the rightness of denying Rush the “privilege”, but for you it’s “nothing to see here, folks. move along!” Not like Rush, who is routinely propped up by the Left as THE leader of conservatism is actually thought by them to be the face of the conservative movement or anything. Nooo, couldn’t possibly be that in trying to black him they are saying something to conservatives in general! Just some ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND ABSURD “right wingers” get all wee-weed up.

That mentality will be the same one that leads people to scratch their heads in ignorant bewilderment wondering “Well, shoot! How did things come to this pass?” when we finally have a “Kristallnacht” against conservatives in this country.

The frog in the pot is often boiled slowly and the first time someone sounds the alarm, he sure looks like an “alarmist” and “ridiculous”–until he’s right. It’s called being atop the slippery slope and seeing it for what it is.

And nobody is putting Rush forward as some kind of poor, abject sad, forlorn, “hapless” person. MM and others have plainly stated it looks like a case of blackballing someone for their ideology. Especially when you try to analyze the reason given by execs: Rush is “polarizing”. And as has been pointed out, “So KEITH OLBERMANN is not??” The stated reason doesn’t add up, so that leads people naturally to find the “real” reason.

I don’t know, the ones who decided they don’t want him buying the team? The ones victimizing poor, poor Rush? Who are they? I honestly don’t know.

The reason I don’t understand the specifics of the situation is because I don’t care enough to understand them. I have no idea what the owners of a football team even do, or why that would be something someone would want to do. I hate professional athletics for myriad reasons, not the least being the fact that wife-beating, drunk-driving, animal-abusing cretins are treated like saints and paid millions and lead lives of insane priveledge if they can throw an f’ing ball. I am all too familiar with the presence of polarizing figures in athletics, which is why I don’t pay attention to any of it.

What I do care about is that people are whining about Rush being some sort of poor, hapless victim when he is nothing of the sort. The man has done very well for himself doing what he does, and if that comes at the occasional “price” so be it. Nobody is threatening his life (at least in this particular instance) or causing him harm in any way, he is being denied the priveledge of purchasing a football team. Cry me a river.
