Obama’s Fox News policy: Isolation over engagement

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 19, 2009 12:02 PM

President Obama’s New Era of Engagement does not include Fox News:

Senior Obama administration officials took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse Fox News of pushing a particular point of view, one week after the administration fired its initial salvo to try to isolate the news network by accusing it of being a GOP mouthpiece.

“A lot of their news programming, it’s really not news. It’s pushing a point of view,” senior adviser David Axelrod said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“The way we — the president looks at it and we look at it, is, it is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective,” White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel added on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The open assault on Fox News began last weekend when White House Communications Director Anita Dunn accused the network of being a “wing of the Republican Party.”

“What I think is fair to say about Fox — and certainly it’s the way we view it — is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party,” Dunn said on CNN. “They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that’s fine. But let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is.”

Despite calls to the White House this week, the administration did not offer a guest for this weekend’s “Fox News Sunday” to talk about Dunn’s comments, although administration officials appeared on all four Sunday morning shows to speak on various issues.

President Obama has had interviews with all of the other Sunday talk shows except “Fox News Sunday,” including a whirlwind weekend in late September where he appeared on all other Sunday talk shows.

Is the issue access? And, asking every concievable question with the appropriate follow-up?

As for isolation, this would be true if Major Garret, or Wendell Goler, were not called on during press conferences, or were kicked out of the White House press corp.

Moreover, Fox news still reports on what the Administration is doing, or not doing. There are other media outlets covering the Administration, too. And, yes they are not doing themselves any favors by taking any individual, or media outlet, to task in this manner.

The reason they are demonizing FOXNews is because Duckworth was caught lying:

The White House stopped providing guests to ‘Fox News Sunday’ after Wallace fact-checked controversial assertions made by Tammy Duckworth, assistant secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, in August. Dunn said fact-checking an administration official was “something I’ve never seen a Sunday show do.”

“She criticized ‘FOX News Sunday’ last week for fact-checking — fact-checking — an administration official,” Wallace said Sunday. “They didn’t say that our fact-checking was wrong. They just said that we had dared to fact-check.”

And don’t you DARE fact-check an administration official. Oh, the arrogance of this administration.

Either Anita Dunn is a novice in the world of public relations, or she’s just naturally clueless.

Obviously, the researchers and investigators at Fox are getting too close to the truth about Obama. His cowardess, anti-constitutional, and yes, anti-American tendencies are floating to the surface, and must be monitored, not dismissed!

He is NOT being presidential, but is showing signs that are tyranical in nature. A tyrant attacks everyone, and everything that is in contravention to their ideology. They hide their past, pretending to be something they are not, in order to gain power.

He asked us to judge him by the people with whom he surrounds himself. Fox is, and he knows they are exposing his interpretation of “Radically changing America.” Hiding in plain sight, parsing words without definition, circumventing oversight, and outright prevarication is his modus operandi.

He is not embracing dissent from conservative America…he is fears it and the probative nature of it’s questions.

Lefty whiners hate FNC not because it’s “faux” news, or is an “echo chamber of the right” (if that’s so, then why do I find myself shouting at the TV so much when I watch it?). It’s that they can’t stand the thought of non-lefties having any forum of expression at all.

“Scratch a ‘liberal,’ and you’ll find a totalitarian underneath.” The left’s yearning for absolutism is so easy to see: when they’re finally in a position of power, they’re still a bunch of miserable SOBs because it isn’t absolute power. When all but one of the broadcast “news” media willingly submit to becoming nothing but propaganda organs for the donkey party, they’re still unhappy because of that one exception.
