Yes, let’s talk about Al Sharpton’s racial demagoguery, shall we?
Here is Al Sharpton fuming over Rush Limbaugh calling him out on his poisonous career of racial demagoguery:

Yes, Al Sharpton, perpetrator of the Tawana Brawley racial hoax crime, is braying about false criminal allegations. The charlatan knows no shame.
Sharpton says he’s going to sue Rush Limbaugh unless he gets an apology.
He’s not going to get an apology.
And he’s not going to sue.
Sharpton has long enjoyed the silence of his coddling enablers about his race-hustling ways.
He loves soaking up the spotlight as a legitimate public policy player out on the trail with Newt Gingrich and Education Secretary Arne Duncan, yukking it up on cable TV, and hanging with politicians in both parties:

But let’s talk about Al Sharpton’s racial demagoguery, shall we?
1987: Sharpton spreads the incendiary Tawana Brawley hoax, insisting heatedly that a 15-year-old black girl was abducted, raped, and smeared with feces by a group of white men. He singles out Steve Pagones, a young prosecutor. Pagones is wholly innocent — the crime never occurred — but Sharpton taunts him: “If we’re lying, sue us, so we can . . . prove you did it.” Pagones does sue, and eventually wins a $345,000 verdict for defamation. To this day, Sharpton refuses to recant his unspeakable slander or to apologize for his role in the odious affair.
1991: A Hasidic Jewish driver in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights section accidentally kills Gavin Cato, a 7-year-old black child, and antisemitic riots erupt. Sharpton races to pour gasoline on the fire. At Gavin’s funeral he rails against the “diamond merchants” — code for Jews — with “the blood of innocent babies” on their hands. He mobilizes hundreds of demonstrators to march through the Jewish neighborhood, chanting, “No justice, no peace.” A rabbinical student, Yankel Rosenbaum, is surrounded by a mob shouting “Kill the Jews!” and stabbed to death.
1995: When the United House of Prayer, a large black landlord in Harlem, raises the rent on Freddy’s Fashion Mart, Freddy’s white Jewish owner is forced to raise the rent on his subtenant, a black-owned music store. A landlord-tenant dispute ensues; Sharpton uses it to incite racial hatred. “We will not stand by,” he warns malignantly, “and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business.” Sharpton’s National Action Network sets up picket lines; customers going into Freddy’s are spat on and cursed as “traitors” and “Uncle Toms.” Some protesters shout, “Burn down the Jew store!” and simulate striking a match. “We’re going to see that this cracker suffers,” says Sharpton’s colleague Morris Powell. On Dec. 8, one of the protesters bursts into Freddy’s, shoots four employees point-blank, then sets the store on fire. Seven employees die in the inferno.
If Sharpton were a white skinhead, he would be a political leper, spurned everywhere but the fringe. But far from being spurned, he is shown much deference. Democrats embrace him. Politicians court him. And journalists report on his comings and goings while politely sidestepping his career as a hatemongering racial hustler.
Jeff Jacoby wrote that in 2003. After the Washington Post wrote another in an endless series of gushing profiles whitewashing Al Sharpton’s lies and crimes, I wrote:

Hmmm . . . you posted a pic of Sharpton on O’Reilly Factor, but not on another FOX News show that constantly has him on: “HANNITY.” Why? Is it because you frequently go on one, but not on the other? Call them all out and be consistent. Sean Vannity even participates in Sharpton’s National Action Network “debate” events. And, frankly, Sharpton appears on one cable news network more than the others: FOX News Channel. Why not call out your employer for constantly giving him a gushing forum, where he constantly walks all over them?

I still contend that the NFL didn’t want Rush involved in negotiations between the players and owners. There will likely be a lock-out and the NFL wants to control the message as much as possible. They wouldn’t be able to control Rush with his 20 m listeners.
Sharpton might take credit for Limbaugh losing his bid, the media might give him credit, but it is mostly about the NFL not wanting incendiary rhetoric to derail the delicate negotiations with the players union.

I live in NYC the Crown Heights debacle was a mess! It was a time bomb.

Let’s not forget that Sharpton is a convicted tax cheater. He had one trial in New York for cheating on his state taxes, played the race card and got the jury that he wanted. Although he was acquitted in a case of jury nullification, Sharpton did not want to try his luck a second time. He either pleaded guilty or no contest the second time he was charged with tax cheating. The records are readily available if anyone wants to check. Also available if anybody wants to check is the deposition Sharpton was forced to give after the jury decided he had libeled Steven Pagones. Sharpton went through gyrations trying to explain his finances. And when the Harlem landlord tenant dispute that resulted, thanks to Sharpton’s calls for a riot, in the death of several immigrant workers from South America in the fires that ensued, the landlord was African-American. The African-American Landlord rented a store to the Jewish guy who sublet to the Black guy. When the African-American landlord put the squeeze on the Jewish guy, he in turn had no choice but to evict the subtenant. He didn’t even want to do it. The African-American landlord was the boss. But Sharpton ignored this. It was too easy for him to turn it into a Black-Jewish controversy and reap the whirlwind. Yet Sean Hannity, who should know better, loves the guy.

My town’s experience with Al Sharpton back a few years ago was hilarious IMO. A table of AA ladies got slow service at the local Cracker Barrel restaurant and accused the staff of being racist. Never mind that the waitstaff was never that swift in the first place, no matter how much melanin you happen to have had in your skin.
Sharpton came down and made a big fuss, organized a protest, etc. Cracker Barrel had to put up a diversity plaque and hire diversity personnel for their HQ. Now a portion of the money paid for each dish has to pay the salary of somebody essentially warming a chair at Cracker Barrel HQ. But at least my food gets to me faster! LOL!

RSS doesn’t know the difference between RACIAL (of or pertaining to race) and RACIST (a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others).
Nothing Rush said was RACIST. He made observations that included race. Were sports writers being soft on McNabb because he was black? Does it matter to you? Would Barak Obama have been elected President if he had been (fully) white, given his background and (lack of) experience? Is it racist to ask those questions? Some people don’t drink the ‘political correctness’ Kool-Aid. Does that make them racist?
Sharpton, along with anyone else, should be judged on the content of his character; not the color of his skin.

I did not call him a tax cheat. I said he took a stance on a relatively arcane aspect of tax law (hobby vs. occupation) that was not probably not supportable. One can argue with the IRS and not be a cheat. But it doesn’t mean you are right.

I was talking about the crips/blodd quote taken out of context. Rush admitted to saying that to a black woman caller in the 70′s when he started his career. But, bashing Rush for something he said 30 years ago doesn’t cover up the fact of the racial comments Sharpton & Jackson have spewed throughout their careers. Why give Irreverent Always Sharptongue any air time? We all know who he is, and what he is. His efforts to enflame race relations has made him a world traveller, a cause celeb, and a rich man.
