Maybe the support staff (janitors, food service, etc.) are in the SEIU and most likely have school email acct’s.

The state workers are members of SEIU.

Immaterial. Md. Code Ann., State Pers. & Pens. (ASPP@) ’2-304 (political activities); Md. Code Ann., State Gov=t ’15-101, et seq.; and 5 U.S.C. ’1501, et seq. (Hatch Act) specifically prohibit use of public money/resources by public employees to engage in political activity. Arguably, the e-mail is an inducement to do so. Completely inappropriate.

Sending emails is easy — our email addys at school are public information, posted on school and district websites.

If the email is coming from outside the district, no law is being violated. If it is being sent form within the district, it may be illegal — though the question is whether or not it really constitutes partisan activity or is simply a personal email between colleagues (which is permitted in most districts).

I teach high school down here in Texas. Today one of my colleagues (I’m not sure which one — I’ll be checking on that tomorrow) sent A STUDENT to me DURING CLASS TIME with a piece of cardstock with the email printed on it.

Could you imagine how the crap would hit the fan if I sent out kids with conservative messages for my colleagues during the school day?

Another thing that caught my eye in that e-mail is this:

How about the “newborn babies” who are denied the most basic health care simply because they managed to survive an abortion? Anyone think that Merle Cuttitta cares about them?

I can’t even remember what I was doing back in October of 1970

I was a star football player on my hometown WI football team. Well, OK, I warmed the bench, but my heart was in it.
