GOP Sen. Jim DeMint supports Doug Hoffman
It’s way past time for the spoiler radical leftist Republican Dede Scozzafava to get out of the race.

Hey Jim, Newt says you are “misinformed”.
Another poll that seems to support the CfG poll yesterday. Though with the same caveats (small sample, commissioned by group supporting Hoffman).
Thanks DeMint for the support. Please give your support to Rubio and Christi also. Thanks again. Come on TRUE R’s get on board.
L
Do you think Newt would get the message if Hoffman were to win even if Dede stays in?
If Steele can talk his way out of this fiasco, he should win “Dancing with the Stars” by acclimation.
This is getting to be downright embarrassing for the RNC.
*Way to go Sen. DeMint; Where is Romney and Huckabee?; Very telling; I’m hoping Marsha Blackburn will endorse soon; She is one of the keepers currently in the house.
Conservatism works every time it’s tried, but it has to be in its purest form. Keep it simple, keep it honest, keep it for life. Way to go DeMint!
Time will tell what others have to say. Take notes…those who support traditional conservatism will rise to the top. Those who don’t will show us their stripes. It’ll be a target-rich environment.
As well it should. Hopefully they’ll take a hint about what the base thinks of the Dem Lite approach.
It’s no wonder they lost big in 2006 & 2008. Clueless idiots running the party.
Nice…
DeMint is one of the reasons we don’t need a third party. We already have the conservative leaders like him who can rebrand the GOP and lead us to victory. There may be a few seats lost in the process at first … Snowe, Graham, etc. When you pull weeds in your garden there are a few bare spots at first. But you gotta get the weeds out of the way so the good stuff can flourish.
The Battleground Poll (Ed Goas and Celinda Lake) shows Hoffman by 5. It doesn’t matter who commissions them or sample size (within reason – I don’t care what somebody’s brother-in-law says), if the pollsters are using balanced samples (samples that mirror the political makeup of the district in question) and neutral questions. The problem with polls arises with push polls (loaded questions like you find in fundraising letters) and with unbalanced samples (like 40% Democrats and 25% Republicans, as ABC and some others are wont to do) designed to influence the result rather than to reflect it. Anyway, only one poll really counts – election day. If Hoffman wins this race, there’re going to be major earthquakes in both political parties – maybe biggest among the Republican establishment. The Dems can always argue that it’s a Repub district anyway and just keep trucking – although the two governor’s races may get their attention.
That is the question, isn’t it? Research 2000, which was commissioned by Kos, shows all its data, questions asked and crosstabs. That is curiously missing from either the CfG or this poll.
I like DeMint a lot. The RNCC should wake up to what we want: Reagan conservative values.
I also like what I am seeing with Marco Rubio running for the Senate (see Hotair’s latest). He is a true conservative, a Christian, and a Cuban who believes in legal immigration. As a Floridian I intend to work to see Crist defeated.
Is the pendulem swinging back towards a conservative movement? I sure hope so!
We received a GOP Census today and I intend to write “not another dime” until the RNCC supports true conservatives” and list the values. The last money we spent on a candidate was when Palin joined up with McCain—it was Palin we supported.
Valleygreaser has it right. Weed the damn garden so the good stuff doesn’t get choked out. Weeds have been keeping the good stuff from growing for a long time. Weeds also cross-pollinate with good stuff and you eventually get crap that doesn’t produce fruit.
Speaking of weeds and crap, it’s those like Gingrich and Steele that keep good seed from getting into the garden in the first place. They are the biggest weeds, a lot like poke…can’t hardly get that stuff out!
I tend to trust the Battleground Poll, because it’s essentially non-partisan – Goas is a Republican, Lake is a Democrat.
Let us not forget what the NRCC did with the dis-invitation earlier this year of Sarah Palin. That was a terrible tactical error…one they will pay for in the future, I believe.
Donate money to the RNC? Why would I do that, based on their recent history? Why would I give someone a loaded gun, if they all they do with it is keep shooting themselves in the foot? I wouldn’t, and I won’t!
Perhaps if the Republican Party really wants to flourish, it should stop using entrenched electees to serve on the national committees, and start looking for fresh minds and ideas nationwide.
And return the six-figures of cash that the RNC transferred to her campaign!
Now that’s funny, like she’d really ever do that.
I wouldn’t care if they were just shooting themselves in the foot, but they keep shooting us in the foot too. We’re the ones who end up paying for their stupidity and cowardice.
I would ask anyone who places ‘principle over Party,’ would they abandon the Republican Party, as Hoffman has, to run on the Conservative Party ticket?
Is it time for a real third party option? Or, are these Republicans opportunists? Put your money where your mouth is, and run where your principles are. Leave the Republican Party and join the Conservative Party.
All politics is local and an elected official will represent the interests of the local constintuency. Would a politician support raising import taxes on a product that is also produced in that district? If that politician is a Republican? A Democrat?
Would a politician support price supports (subsidies and Government spending) on a product or commodity produced in that district? If that politician is a Republican? A Democrat?
I like DeMint and hope to see him part of the ticket at some point. Seems to be grounded firmly in his beliefs and not afraid to say them out loud, nor afraid to go against the grain when called for. What a breath of fresh air. Are you listening Mr. Steele?
And, yes, we should all demand the monies turned over to the ACORN lover be returned. She’s DOA in the polls and a bandaid is not going to resusitate her.
Hey Newt! How’s that crow taste now?!
Newt: “Minty”
Link? Please forgive me if I’m less than trusting today; I’m still a bit crispy from getting burned by a “reliable” media source.
Which is exactly why I predict she won’t and that Newt & Co. are urging her to stay in. Anything to cause pain to the hated conservative base.
We really are in the age of Obama and all the GOP chickens are finally coming home to roost.
Amazing how the R leaders like to tell us what to do and we are supposed to obey. Now we are not. Whats going to happen?
I thought these leaders all met and figured out a strategy to win back the White House and Congress. Was this it? Fight with your base to get them to moderate?

Call and ask for a REFUND NOW….No money to be given to DEDE….No cash for RINOS…
How ironic that the Dems have the radical fringe left pulling on them, and the Repubs have the conservative right pulling on them. Both are doing their absolute best to separate these two bedfellows.
Not just backing Hoffman, but term limits too! I’m liking this guy better all the time.
Can we convince him to move to Maryland? We on the Eastern Shore would welcome him.

I follow politics, but not closely enough to know which of the current crop of lesser fish GOP players jumping on the Hoffman bandwagon are sincere, or are just thinking of self-preservation. At least, not without doing a good deal of research. I am very suspicious of anyone throwing their suport to him after waiting weeks to and putting their finger to the wind first. No matter, People who live in their states and districts can handle them. As a registered Ind. I am not the GOP as my standard bearer. You think they would know that, but apparently not from the amount of GOP e-mail I receive. I delete it every day. What I see is a party that is so enamored of itself and so locked into beltway thinking that they are beyond any hope of getting it. They are exactly like Democrats in that they think they know what is best for us. They cannot understand the “I’d rather be right than victorious” attitude I now have. And they never will. I hope Hoffman wins in a landslide. But if he does not, that’s okay, it is the message that it sends that counts and real change takes time.. The GOP has to learn that we are not going to accept the crap they offer any longer.
I don’t think a third party is necessary.
I think the Republican party is going to learn its lesson very quickly.
the big tent HAS to be anchored by the conservative base. to allow in rinos in very blue districts who disagree morally or politically with one or more planks of the conservative base is the big tent reagan theory which won. to go with the rnc theory that the rinos will allow conservatives in has lost and is losing in ny23. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY MUST BE THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY, OR THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY WILL BECOME THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY.
Can’t.
Doug Hoffman’ Conservative Party is a local party in New York.
The national Conservative Party is an option, though. There are other options as well.
Sadly, the best way to beat back the Republicrats would be to unite these conservative parties. When that happens, America will be rid of liberals, hopefully for good.
