I’m sure I heard in the Hannity/Steele interview that Steele said that only 4 of the eleven voted for DeDe. I’m not sure how that adds up. I was not there so it is just opinion on my part.

I am not sure about that, but I do know every person’s vote was weighted by the population of the county they represented.

In other words, the people’s choice prevailed. In less staunchly conservative areas, the less conservative candidate won out over the more conservative candidate. And that’s how it works.

Ahem… still unclear on the concept? We aren’t trying to elect a REPUBLICAN majority to the House. We are trying to elect a CONSERVATIVE majority.

That doesn’t change his point, on which he was correct in general. Take Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins for example. There’s no way a Conservative is going to win those seats, or any seats in those states, for that matter. It’s just not going to happen. So, you can either take what you can get in a Republican, or let the Dems have it.

However, there are seats we could win with Conservatives….like NY-23, like Lindsay Graham’s seat, like John McCain’s seat, etc. There is NO reason we should be running RINOS for those seats when we could win with true Conservatives.

When the truth of the matter is that the local people decided to pick this woman. What were their criteria? That she would best represent the republicans in that very blue state, that she could get elected over the democrat … in that very blue state – but above all, that this person, who lives there, would be voted in by other people who live there. If Hoffman ends up winning, (BECAUSE of all this national attention that has been brought down to this local race) then so much the better. It would seem that the local people there in NY23 decided on this woman for many reasons. As an example, If they picked Fred Thompson from South Carolina to run in New York … chances are that he would lose to the democrat. Is Fred Thompson, if he decided to run, a better conservative than Scozzafava? Yes. Would he be a better candidate to campaign and win in New York state? I don’t see that.

In 2004, the Illinois Republican State Central Committee picked Alan Keyes to run against Barack Obama. It was a disaster, Obama won, and then later ran for president and won that as well. Mr. ‘it’s too soon for me to run for president, I haven’t done anything yet because I just got elected as a senator from Illinois’ wouldn’t have gotten the chance and the national exposure if it weren’t for the bone headed pick of Alan Keyes.

But anyway – It’s fun to argue who is so damned popular or not in a local political race … claim that the national organization is imposing their opinions on the local people … and then have all of us, from a national perspective, donate money to Hoffman so he can beat out the local people’s choice. Like I said, if Hoffman wins, so much the better. I just find all of this ironic.

Come now. None of the three candidates is walking away with this race.

And how can you say they are not listening to their constituents? Scozzofava has been a state representative since 1998. That means she has won 6 elections in that district. Its not like they chose some nobody that never had the support of the constituency (or at least a large portion of it, her assembly district comprises a large part, but not all, of the congressional district).

The 11 Republican County Chairs of New York’s 23rd Congressional district have selected Assemblywoman Diedre “Dede” Scozzafava to run on the Republican line in the the expected special election to replace Rep. John McHugh, who has been tapped by President Barack Obama to become the Secretary of the Army.

Scozzafava’s selection came after an interview and seletion process that pit her against a handful of prospective candidates, most competitively against Matt Doheny, a political newcomer and investment banker who put $500,000 of his own money in the race, and raised $300,000 in the weeks leading up to the selection.

You can have your opinion about Steele mandating that the County Chairs of New York’s 23rd Congressional district picked Scozzafava. But it is not based on any fact whatsoever.

I call BS on your opinion.
