The “media justice” mob strikes again

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 30, 2009 12:19 PM

Earlier this week, I introduced you to the “media justice” mob — Marxist-inspired activists seeking to crack down on conservative political speech under the guise of combating “hate” and crusading for “diversity.”

“Social justice” = redistribution of wealth and economic “rights.”

“Media justice” = redistribution of speech and First Amendment rights.

Well, they’re at it again. Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters blogs about the latest campaign:

Called StopTheWitchHunt.org, their goal is “to give voice to the millions of Americans who believe it is time for talk-show hosts and elected officials to stop stoking the racial anxieties of the fringes of America.”

They accuse the quintet of spewing “lies and hate speech…in a nationwide witch hunt” against President Obama.

They even call Limbaugh’s “I hope he fails” remark “the verbal equivalent of putting a razor blade in a candy apple.”

Yes, these witch hunters are decrying witch hunters. Pot and kettle.

One of the organizers is Makani Themba- Nixon, Executive Director of The Praxis Project and a member of the Echo Justice coalition.

The Praxis Project explains its name, partly inspired by Marx:

Although there are other organizations with the name Praxis, and there’s even a Praxis Project in the Midwest, we’ve had our name since 1995.

The name is drawn from three meanings for the word Praxis. The first is from Catholic pedagogy where it means practicing one’s religion or applying the principles of religion to day to day living. This value, practicing or living out one’s beliefs—especially as they relate to social justice, is an important part of our organizational philosophy.

Karl Marx took the term to apply it more broadly to the process of applying theory through practice as a methodology for developing more informed theory and practice for social change. Of course, this requires attention to both reflection and direct action, and their relationship to each other. This process is the core of our work.

The final meaning is drawn from more modern roots—Star Trek lore. (If you have no idea about Star Trek, please bear with us while we talk to other trekkies…)

Praxis was a Klingon moon that imploded leaving their world in disarray. The Klingon people had little choice but to make a strategic alliance with the Federation in order to save their world. Klingons had long warred with the Federation. They were an “exotic”, messy addition to the Federation’s fairly homogenous alliance…

The Praxis Project is a signatory to the FCC/left-wing churches/open-borders alliance’s petition to shut up illegal immigration critics on the airwaves.

Know your enemies.

I wonder if this leftist group will ever say a word about the poisonous pen of Maureen Dowd of the left’s beloved New York Times. Dowd once wrote that after Paul Wolfowitz left the Defense Department he could “return to being Ariel Sharon’s advisor”. This was a nasty slur, an accusation of dual loyalty to another country. It a particularly vile slur to select a Jewish employee of the Defense Department and accuse him of being loyal to Israel. It was really a charge leveled at all Jews who work at DOD. A number of people wrote to the useless Barney Calume at the NY Times public editor office. Calume, who viewed his job as that of an advocate for the reporters and editors, not the readers, rushed to Mo Dowd’s defense. It was all good natured banter insisted Calume. Can anyone imagine the reaction from the liberal media if a conservative columnist had made the same vile accusation that Dowd did? It would end the career of any conservative who wrote what Dowd did.

Actually the moon in question exploded, not imploded. If you’re going to try to be a geek at least get your imaginary facts straight.

Then again, since the Star Trek franchise was taken over by Marxists 22 years ago I can see why the “justice” crowd would look to it for inspiration.

    From their website:

    Who We Are

The Praxis Project is a national, nonprofit organization that builds partnerships with local groups to influence policymaking to address the underlying, systemic causes of community problems. Committed to closing the health gap facing communities of color, we forge alliances for building healthy communities.

Our internationally recognized staff employ their broad experience in training, advocacy, policy development, media relations and technical assistance to support local organizations as they work to advance their vision of a healthy, just community.

We help local groups hold institutions and governmental agencies accountable by designing community-based plans, conducting research, developing media strategies and developing policy initiatives – to achieve sustainable results.

Our goal is to build power at the local level to increase the capacity of communities to become effective advocates so that they are leaders and catalysts on the legislative and policy decisions that affect their lives.

Why do liberal groups always have this same gobbledygook of meaningless jargon? It seems as if they all take a class to learn the same empty phrases to make it sound as if they actually do something useful. I know from experience that the people involved in these groups spend far more time writing mission statements, reports, strategies, proposals and endless meetings and seminars to review the aforementioned than they do performing real work. Which is probably a good thing as they do less damage when they are busy writing about their vision.

    Not anymore.

We are dealing with a dominant political party that from the top down has sold out to left-wing extremism. They thrive on conflict, either through stoking class warfare of by fixating on select “enemies” who must be destroyed before Utopia can be realized.

These same political heirs apparent to the failed legacy of Marx & Engels — the Cognoscenti comprising the donkey party leadership and their appendages in the donkey media — are supported by an alarmingly large number of followers who would gladly do away with a lot of other Americans’ freedoms: either out of ignorance, stupidity, jealousy and greed (the i.e., the Ignorati) or through the malevolently narcissistic belief that they’ll be spared when the round-ups of the modern-day Kulaks begin (i.e., the Glitterati).

They have the White House; they have Congress; they’re filling the Justice Department, the FCC and the courts with fellow-travelers. They have already demonstrated that they no respect for the Constitution.

Just how long do we expect to be able to hide behind the “Crime-Coddling Bill of Rights” when faced with such people?

    Yes.

We see “fairness” and “justice” as equality of opportunity.

They see “fairness” and “justice” as equality of results.

So, if there is inequality of results, they believe it is their moral imperative to “spread the wealth” and bring about “redistributive change”. I.e. to play “Robbing Hoodlum” (a.k.a. Robin’ Hood’).

This whole thing is nothing more than jealousy. They are jealous that Right-Wing talk shows have high audience numbers while Liberal shows can’t keep an audience let alone attract one. So they act like the immature little children they are, have a tantrum and do the equivalent of, “If we can’t have a show, then nobody can have a show”. Typical Liberal babies.

Thing is, they haven’t figured out why that is; why is it that Conservative talk radio guarantees a large audience while Liberal talk radio can’t.

    It’s very simple:

Conservative talk radio carries a positive message. It encourages people to take control of their own lives, to be accountable for themselves, their actions and their lives. That they and they alone know what is best for themselves and their families, that no one has the right to take their hard-earned pay, that they have rights and the Government should keeps it’s nose out of their business and hands out of their pockets and wallets and off their paychecks. They are up-beat and positive, in general.

Contrast with the Liberal talk shows where the hosts are constantly whining about one thing or another. They are constantly saying how unfair everything is, how everything is someone’s fault other than theirs, how everything is somehow tied in with racism, how no one is responsible for their own actions, how no one is entitled to their money or property, they are generally mean spirited, mocking, joking, laughing at others, making hateful and hatefilled comments, and generally making you feel angry and worse off for having tuned in while mocking and degrading anyone with a different opinion than theirs or the generally accepted Liberal talking points.

Even their fellow Liberals can only take so much before they don’t want to hear anymore.

Who wants to tune in to a show that has constant whining, b**ching, pissing and moaning all day? They just don’t grasp that concept, which is why Air America and every other Liberal Talk Show format is a constant epic fail.

And what is their solution? More hateful/hate-filled whining and caterwauling. And this “Age of Obama”, this “Age of Hope and Change” that was built last year on just those principals has lasted less than a year, as the people of this nation who fell for the usurper’s Snake Oil do what those who tuned in to Air America et al have done: get tired of the whining, the lack of personal responsibility, the scapegoating etc., and are turning away from them, looking for positive people and politicians who will actually uphold the ideals that this nation was founded on, who accept and encourage personal responsibility and freedom and not look to blame others and scream racism and look for scapegoats.

Sorry bout the length guys…but this is a real sore spot.

Consider new Texas GOP Chair Ms. Adams’ positions on just a few issues.

On Children’s Health Care for working Texas citizens and their families:

“We do not have a children’s health care crisis.” (Texas Eagle Forum Alert, 2/21/99 via Texas Freedom Network)

    On President Obama:

“While many question Barack Hussein Obama’s ‘religion’…the more important question is whether he has a ‘relationship’ with Jesus Christ because that is the only HOPE that any of us have to obtain eternal life. I personally see NO evidence that Obama has that kind of ‘saving faith’.” (Texas Freedom Network, page 40)

    On Hispanic Texans:

“If mom had a baby at age 15, are her morals going to be setting different standards than someone who has grown up in the American culture where that is not typical?” (Dallas Morning News)

On Stem Cell Research to Cure Cancer, Alzheimer’s and other diseases:

“Scientists are on the verge of cloning humans, injecting them with diseases and studying them, then killing them.” (Source: Texas Eagle Forum via Americans United) (Ed ???)

On President Obama’s Address, urging schoolchildren to work hard and stay in school:

“This is eerily like Hitler’s youth movement.” (Texas Eagle Forum)
(I had a similar feeling- Ed)

On issue after issue, Cathie Adams is either uninformed or intentionally spreading the same garbage one expects from Rush Limbaugh, another sign that failed one party Republican rule has nothing better to offer Texans.
    Sincerely,

    Kirsten Gray

I recall that back in the 60′s all the hippies were saying to not trust ‘big brother’ government for anything, (heck, I was agreeing with them back then!). That they seem to have reversed themselves is that much more proof that pot causes irreparable brain damage.

NY23: Dems Bringing in Big Money Against Hoffman

Lots of union people pouring into upstate New York, and I guess big time TV ad buys against Hoffman.

Oh, story by Robert Stacy McCain. I never would have recognized that name before he was accused of describing inter-racial dating as repugnant. Interweb searches on multiple search engines all lead back to a single source, a blog that accused him of that without source or attribution.

But here is where, if rural upstate New York, dairy farms and ski mountains and Fort Drum, Home of the 10th Mountain Division, is anything like the put down of Pennsylvania I have heard (Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, with Alabama in between), ie, fly over yokels who clong to guns and Bibles, explicitly making this a referendum on Obama is probably a bad move.

The offices of the Clinton County Democratic Party here in Plattsburgh — Owens’ hometown — were busy this afternoon, as young Democratic staffers were ready to begin a weekend of door-to-door canvassing operations. Staffers were preparing to distribute stacks of door-hanger GOTV cards that tout President Obama’s endorsement of Owens, telling voters: “Those standing in the way of Change want you to say home on Tuesday — don’t let them win.”

Precisely. Add to that the fact that liberal radio exemplifies the typical government program: a liberal program that can’t stand on its own, can’t pay for itself, and thus, needs constant, usually involuntary, infusions of cash from taxpayers to prop up their very existence. Or they steal from orphanages, or get liberal socialist sugar daddies like George Soros. It is populated with whining, talentless, socially crippled individuals like Al Franken.

Conversely, conservative programming exemplifies that which is free market and conservative. It is self supporting and, as RetFiremen states, attracts a large audience, voluntarily, that agrees with the upbeat message. Look at Glenn Beck for instance: interesting, humorous, entertaining, and above all, factual.

Simply put, liberal programming is a losing concern, while conservative programming is a financial boon to radio stations, and a welcome, needed counter to the former monopoly of liberal programming (in all senses of the word). If they were ineffectual, the Obamaroids would not need to attack them, and if they were wrong, the WH attacks would be effective. They are not.

Then I imagine Mr. Hoffman has them scared-always a good sign. Should Mr. Hoffman win the Obaminations will claim it is NOT a referendum on Obama-should Democrat Bill Owens win by more than two votes the New York Times headline reads:

GREATEST LANDSLIDE IN HISTORY-NY 23 AN AFFIRMATION OF LOVE FOR HE WHO HAS WON ONE

HI ARIZONA NEANDERTHAL. Good post. I also would like to see our brilliant Secretary of State–Hilliary Clinton–get a “real world education” into the lives and status of women in backward Islamic countries. She would be a lot less likely to want to cynically “cut deals” with repressive regimes after enjoying some of their “benefits”.

Ironically, their final explanation of their name is completely wrong also.

    They state:

The final meaning is drawn from more modern roots—Star Trek lore. (If you have no idea about Star Trek, please bear with us while we talk to other trekkies…)

Praxis was a Klingon moon that imploded leaving their world in disarray. The Klingon people had little choice but to make a strategic alliance with the Federation in order to save their world. Klingons had long warred with the Federation. They were an “exotic”, messy addition to the Federation’s fairly homogenous alliance…

The Federation was hardly homogeneous before the admission of the Klingons. The Federation is supposed to be an alliance of alien races. How in the world is that “homogeneous”?
