How Scozzafava repays NRCC and RNC

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 1, 2009 05:54 PM

Hey, how did that six-figure RNC donation to the NRCC plus $85,000 to the New York GOP plus nearly half-million-dollar investment in advertising and other independent expenditures on behalf of radical leftist Dede Scozzafava work out?

She repaid the GOP by endorsing Democrat candidate Bill Owens. Some gratitude, eh?

“Since beginning my campaign, I have told you that this election is not about me; it’s about the people of this District,” Scozzafava wrote in an e-mail sent to supporters this afternoon.

“It is in this spirit that I am writing to let you know I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same.”

I repeat: One thing is guaranteed at the conclusion of the NY-23 special congressional election: The Beltway Republicans who endorsed radical leftist Dede Scozzafava are going to have indelible egg stains on their faces. And GOP establishment fund-raising organizations will be the poorer for it.

Suckers.

TCOT Report: “The NRCC and RNC Just Spent $1 Million on Dede Scozzafava. This is their reward.”

The shadow of Big Labor looms:

At 10 p.m. last night – right in the middle of the Halloween festivities – Scozzafava’s husband, Ron McDougall, president of the Jefferson/Lewis/St. Lawrence Central Labor Council issued a statement through the AFL-CIO that he is endorsing Owens against Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman.

According to his statement, it basically all comes down to support of the labor movement’s top priority, the Employee Free Choice Act and its controversial card-check provision, which Owens and Scozzafava supported – much to the chagrin of the right – and Hoffman pointedly does not.

“This has been a difficult day for my family. But the needs and concerns of the men and women of the 23rd Congressional District remain paramount,” McDougall said. “As such, I wholeheartedly and without reservation endorse the candidacy of Bill Owens.”

“As a life-long labor activist, I know that Bill Owens understands the issues important to working people. On the other hand, Doug Hoffman has little regard for the interests of workers.”

“Hoffman’s opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act, coupled with his support for the failed policies of the Bush Administration make him a poor choice to serve the citizens of the 23rd Congressional District.”

If they ignore it hard enough, the mess isn’t there. I predict that they’ll never admit to screwing up by the numbers on this. They’ll just keep repeating that the conservatives are to blame for causing party infighting and driving away good republican candidates. If there is any blame or fault, they’ll forever point at the conservatives.

There is no question that this debacle is the fault of the Republican leadership, both locally and nationally. Accordingly, there is a real need for a reassessment of where the party gets its candidates and where it is going in terms of its principles. Power over principle is the way of the Democrats. When Republicans adopt their strategy, then the people have no place to turn but a third party.

I would be most interested to hear Gingrich explain this entire episode and apologize to the base. It ought to be obvious that this woman, selected by the Republican leaders locally, is a Democrat in Republican clothing. She now has not only abandoned the Republican Party, but all of the Republicans who worked for and with her over the years. She is an Arlen Specter.

I doubt she will be welcome in the Republican HQ and I suspect that other heads will roll here – and they should. New leadership for NY-23 is not only for elected officials but unelected committeemen and women.

When the Repubs slip below a third party movement in terms of competence at waging political battle, then they will collpase..no one will take them seriously.

My prediction for NY-23. The people who voted with Scuzzyfavor were probably those who were stuck in the LOTE mode, and supported Scuzzyfavor only because she had an R after her name. I think most of those will go to Hoffman anyway.(If they really supported Owens in the first place, they could have gone over to Owens early on).

I think because of the Republican “leadership” (that is kind of an oxymoron isn’t it?) in this race, the race between Hoffman and Owens will be closer than I’d like.

Do you all recognize the code words?

    CONSTITUTION OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

    Amended July 8, 2001
at the 27th National Convention, Milwaukee, WI

    PREAMBLE

The Communist Party USA is the party of and for the U.S. working class, a class which is multiracial, multinational, and unites men and women, young and old, employed and unemployed, organized and unorganized, gay and straight, native-born and immigrant, urban and rural, and composed of workers who perform a large range of physical and mental labor—the vast majority of our society. We are the party of the African American, Mexican American, Puerto Rican, all other Latino American, Native American, Asian American, and all racially and nationally oppressed peoples, as well as women, youth, and all other
    working people.

Yep, Bill Owens understands the issues important to working people
the Communist Party, and card-check is one of their top priorities!

Scozzafava’s whole purpose was to secure the Republican nomination so that regardless of whether the Democrat or RINO won, Nancy Pelosi (and SEIU, and CPUSA) would be a guaranteed a vote for card-check from the Representative of NY-23.

Thank God for Hoffman and people like Michelle Malkin who are fighting (and winning) the battle to wrestle control of the Republican Party away from RINOs and back into the hands of conservatives!

Note to AP, there was NOTHING moderate about Scuzzy in comparison to what the GOP is supposed to stand for.

I have yet to see a single issue she supported that suggests she was a moderate or a Republican.

    Agreed.

A very good friend of mine is a Vietnam veteran Marine who has been heavily involved with the POW/MIA effort ever since he returned from Vietnam. He has invested decades of his life, and thousands of his own dollars, in this effort. He tells me the following:

    1) John McCain and John Kerry teamed up to betray POWs, MIAs, and their families. (Relevant WND post)

    2) During part of the time that McCain claims that he was being held in “solitary confinement”, McCain was not even in Vietnam at all… rather he was being treated very well in Eastern Europe.

In my opinion, it appears that McCain worked harder to beat Romney and Huckabee than he did to beat Obama.

The only reason that I voted for the Republican ticket in November 2008 was because of Palin.

We are past the point where a donation to their campaign will matter that much, what we need now is to reach as many voters as possible within the next 36 hours and let them know Americans are focused on helping elect elect Bob McDonnell, David Harmer and Doug Hoffman.

Today I am emailing to ask if you will take a moment now to make phone calls to voters. We have set up phone banks for Bob McDonnell and David Harmer and you can begin calling voters immediately. Tomorrow we will launch a phone bank for Doug Hoffman. Even if you can only make a call or two, you will help make a positive difference in the final hours before votes are cast on Tuesday.

Also, if you know friends or family who will have a chance to vote on Tuesday for one of these candidates please make sure they do. Huck PAC volunteers have already made over 20,000 calls in Virginia and helped Bob immensely. I know if we make these final calls we can do more of the same.
