Suicidal tendencies: The GOP and its deadly alliances

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 2, 2009 04:15 PM

I noted earlier this morning the GOP’s need to purge its suicidal ACORN/WFP/SEIU alliances.

Last month, I spotlighted Republicans in Illinois who continue to take gobs of money from ACORN’s alter ego, the SEIU.

Anita MonCrief has a related must-read in the Hot Air Green Room on “How NY23 Revealed the Republicans’ ACORN Problem.” Excerpt:

ACORN is a Democrat scandal and it is hard to separate one from the other. Corruption is the overriding theme and it comes mostly from the left. Another particularly odd pairing continues to be the radical reformers of ACORN and top Conservatives and Republicans. The ACORN 8, a group of former ACORN board members, have formed a Scozzafava-like partnership with the Republicans. In attempting to expose ACORN, some appear to have ignored key facts and overlooked a pattern of withholding key information to coincide with opportunistic timing aimed at aiding Democrats. An example of this is the complete removal of two longtime Obama ACORN cronies from a complaint filed with the United States Justice Department last January by the ACORN 8. Madeline Talbot is described by Stanley Kurtz of the National Review Online as “the woman who first drew Obama into an alliance with ACORN.” And Keith Kelleher is Talbot’s husband, the Chief Organizer of SEIU Local 880 in Chicago.

Another example of the GOP ignoring the evidence in front of it involves investigative reporting by the National Legal and Policy Center, a group that “promotes ethics in public life through research, investigation, education and legal action.” The NLPC uncovered more on ACORN’s relationship with Scozzafava. The GOP seems quick to support organizations and people with strong ties to ACORN as long as they technically are not ACORN. Unfortunately for conservatives, the credibility being bestowed on such groups receives little scrutiny beyond the blogosphere and Fox News . Key ACORN opponents have formed relationships of convenience with little thought to the outcome. As the NLPC reports, even the unions are involved:

“The powerful New York City-based health care workers union, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1199, also has endorsed Owens. But common sense says that if Mrs. Scozzafava is elected, she effectively will have established a Republican congressional beachhead for ACORN, who would claim its ‘bipartisanship.’ It’s not as if her own party will be against her. Top GOP members sending her checks include House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Minority Whip Eric Cantor (Virginia), National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (California), Rep. Jeb Hensarling (Texas), and Rep. Peter King (N.Y.).

“How did leading Republicans, some of whom (like Boehner) have been ACORN’s toughest critics, come to endorse a candidate with a history of endorsements by its main political front, the Working Families Party?” (emphasis mine).

Good question. In NY 23, the GOP candidate selecters chose to ignore the evidence of Scozzafava’s ACORN tainted background…

…The question now is whether the GOP can overcome its fear of being labeled “racist” by the left and learn to respond to these attacks. Fear of that seems to be the tipping point for their ultimately disastrous relationships with liberals who wish to keep Democrats in power…

***

Learn your lesson, GOP. Don’t be suckers again. You can bet conservatives who regret giving money to the RNC and NRCC won’t be forking over any more tuition to the learning-challenged party elites:

The top-ranking House Republican told reporters on Monday that he regrets having supported former GOP House candidate Dede Scozzafava.

Scozzafava, the official Republican Party candidate in the special election in New York’s 23rd district, dropped out of the race over the weekend and then endorsed the Democrat.

“This lady clearly has as agenda that’s different than most Republicans; she was out there promoting herself,” House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said, noting that he has encouraged all members of the GOP conference to support Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

All together now: D-U-H.

I don’t understand these politicians (like Newt) who think we should water down basic ideas in the pursuit of a “big tent”. If we have a big tent, and it’s full of crooks and con artists, then we really have nothing.

Throw these rascals out of the GOP, and let’s reclaim it as the party of Conservatives.

The RNC had better get a clue, or they are getting not one dime from me.

Careful now Vicki….some who comment here regularly don’t quite get that when the brain and the heart both have cancer, it’s best to put the horse down and find a new one to ride. They somehow seem to think that it’s best to polish the saddle on the horse you have.

And if the Liberals DO gut shoot the RINOs – what is the downside? Expel, at least marginalize, the RINOs, actually STAND for something, make your message clear and I dare say the tent will get bigger. Literally millions of people are sitting on their hands with no place to go. The Tea Parties were the first political function for some in years. “Moderation” in such times is like warm beer-fine for Europeans but rejected by adults.

I find the travails of the GOP mildly amusing since I no longer consider myself a Republican and no longer believe anything any of them say.

Once you realize they are lying to you all the time it is quite refreshing. The fact that Scozzafava flung manure all over the GOP doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, she was doing it for years before this and they knew it and still practically begged her to do so while paying for the privilege. The only difference is this time, she flung the manure before she got to Washington, DC unlike Specter, et al.

Here is a simple reminder…ANY politician, regardless of party affiliation, that claims to be a moderate,” is actually a liberal. No ifs, ands, or buts….

The Big Tent mentality started years ago to make the Republican Party more inclusive, only served as a wedge for liberals to infiltrate the party in order to get elected in conservative districts.

Remember how we got here…Vote only for conservative candidates, or change party’s. It is just that simple.

This has been a costly lesson. But along with the sterling examples (via actions — not utterances, of course…) of Sphincter (Idiot-PA), Snowe-Cow, Newt Gingrich (Idiot-Ga), Miss Lindsey Graham (Idiot-SC), House Minority Leader John Boehner (DUH-Ohio), and of course the conductor of the two-face express John McCain (McCain-MSM) we see where the sympathies and ideology of RINOs and DIABLOs really are. Not with the Citizen, but with The New Royalty.

The Progressives are afraid, and it has made them panic — which is why Scuzzy officially supported the Obama-flavored candidate when she saw the chances of digging her claws into the power-pie vanish. She vomitted her support on her ideological cousin, Owens. This tells us the hierarchy of desires these squishies have, where their loyalties are: Power for themselves 1st, the Progressive Tyranny 2nd. In my opinion, this exposure has made it worth the cost of admission.

We can now discount the “noseholders” as the agents provocateurs they actually are…. The same needs to be said of those who mis-characterize our efforts on the blogs. Their purpose is to nibble away our efforts, steal our time and resources, and wedge between us. Like army ants, they need no direct communication, they simply know the goal group-think their efforts. The time it is easiest to detect these ants is when they constantly misconstrue others postings, attacking and belittling Conservs/Libertares and our values. There are a few on this board, and doubtless they’ll poke fun at me, Alinsky-ing up MM’s board. Ridicule was one of his favorite weapons, and their small, underdeveloped and immature minds cannot frame an argument in any other terms. Try a cogent well thought out argument with them, and listen to the snide sneering start.

We need to just ignore these know-nothings after it is obvious that they are simply agents provocateurs for the Progressive Cause. Then never again respond to any futher attempts at baiting us!

In my case, my grandson setup a “blog reader” for me to make reading blogs easier. When that when I click on a poster’s name, a context menu has a few choices, one of which is “ignore postings by this poster”. I use it whenever I see a poster who twists others posts. There are a lot of posters here who I never see. It helps my bloodpressure. [grin]

Also, there is another way We can tell those who, knowingly or not, are working for the other side:
Those who spout Big Tent-ism, quoting Reagan in part while forgetting the rest of the speech (where RR invited those unchangeable Progressives to leave the party…) {hear THAT, sNewt!!} are either so dense as to be a lost cause or dishonest and willful in their sympathies to those who want to destroy this country.
Those who put “party over principle”, those LOTE voters — who gave us Progressive’s liegeman for the Republican candidate in the last election, those who think it a kindness to hang a man slowly, those who argue we need to Progress, and leave behind our narrow Constitutional view of government.

If these things were true, if the Citizenry had really left the concept of our Republic behind and wanted to be a Mommy-State papoose, President Cucaracha wouldn’t be running full-bore to obtain complete control of all information conduits.

I no longer have patience for those who claim that “we need to moderate”, “we need to just get along” — you don’t “get along” with a house fire, you put it out!

And Our House, Our Country, Our Republic, is on fire! The “Transformational Change” that Cockroach wants is the carbonized hulk of our American Society and Culture! There are video clips aplenty where his minions say so, in almost so many words!

Folks! As I said, Our House is ablaze! We need to put it out: We need to put them out! — so far out of office that their Great-grandchildren will blanch at the mention of these next two elections!

I don’t believe that it is too late to use the Constitutional Methods to correct our course, but the time given us is fleeing on the flutter of the “O”-ssiah’s wings and the flash of “Shine” off his halo! That “too late” time is not to far off if the Citizenry doesn’t awaken.

But reading the blogs, watching the news, and listening to people as I travel, I hear things. It does seem that the Citizens are rubbing the sleep out of their collective eyes… and that comforts me.
