Probably true in societies where a homeowner is not allowed to kill invaders.

In more sane societies the criminal knowing the homeowner owns a gun and has the full right to gun down intruder in cold blood should act as a serious deterrent.

I had Indian food at lunch today. I keep finding good places to eat out in my neck of the woods. This place was slightly spicier than most other places I have been lately but it was quite good.

Some of the spice combinations are quite unique and take a bit of getting used to but it is worth trying. Oddly enough, I found after visiting several Thai restaurants that I really don’t like the combination of citrus and coconut milk. But I haven’t run into any such combinations at Indian places yet. Live and learn.

Apparently according to Wikipedia the 5.7mm round ued by the Five SeveN gun is about 62% the velocity of the average FMJ ball round for the 5.56 NATO
(I mislisted it earlier as the 5.45NATO,my bad)which is about 3000 fps. If the same round at that velocity generates about 1200 ft-lbs of energy, then the 5.7 would put out roughly 62% of that which be about 744 ft-lbs of energy, if it were about a 55-grain projectile. Since the 5.7 round is 31 grain, we can deduce that the energy is about (31/55)x744=419.35 ft-lbs of energy which would put it in the light (125 grain bullet).357 magnum category for energy/9mm +p (thereabouts).

So Elmer Creek Smith you are right it doesn’t really qualify quite as hand cannon…but I do wonder about the frame circumferemce…maybe FN managed to make it slim enough for most people to shoot..?

Okay, it’s Elm Creek Smith, not that there’s anything wrong with the name Elmer, I guess. I have long fingers so the FN 5.7 isn’t any worse than most high capacity handguns. Probably due to the “high strength polymer” frame, I figure most people could handle it more easily than a Beretta 92S (M9).

The 92S was adopted by the mil. after testing against a standard GI pot helmet from WWII. Penetration was FAR superior to the .45 colt round. A series of tests, then followed for the contract, and 15 rounds and Beretta’s ability to provide the quantity sealed the deal. Licensing was the kicker. The Beretta also had slide problems during the tests, quickly fixed AFTER the contract went down. (This is all from memory, your milage may vary…)
Then the FBI adopted the 10mm, who’d a thunk it?
I REALLY like the impact energy delivered by a 1911 .45 cal. but for pure

I wish ALL my people America would become familiar with firearms-bullets exit pointy end.

IF you were ever forced to use force to protect home and hearth do not call 9-1-1 until after you have called you lawyer-at least leave a message.

Say as little to the police as possible-”I feared for my life, could not reasonably retreat and wish to say no more until I talk to my lawyer-thank you”. There are many fine books on home defense from the NRA or do a web search. You might want to start with “Dial 911 and Die.” Even the largest police forces are several minutes away-a 9-1-1 operator is going to want to talk to you while you need to be doing something.

Obama Makes Polygamy a 21st Century Issue
by Phyllis Schlafly November 6, 2009

No sooner had we celebrated the exit of Barack Obama’s Green Jobs Czar, Van Jones, because of his Communist connections, another off-the-wall Administration embarrassment surfaced. President Obama nominated for commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) a woman who signed a radical manifesto endorsing polygamy.

We thought our nation had settled the polygamy issue a century and a half ago, but this nomination makes it a 21st century controversy. Obama’s nominee for the EEOC, a lesbian law-school professor named Chai R. Feldblum, signed a 2006 manifesto endorsing polygamous households (i.e., “in which there is more than one conjugal partner”).

This document, entitled “Beyond Same-Sex Marriage: A New Strategic Vision for All Our Families & Relationships,” argues that traditional marriage “should not be legally and economically privileged above all others.” The American people obviously think otherwise, and current laws reflect our wishes.

Feldblum is not the only pro-polygamy Obama appointee…

A “Gun Free Zone” means a “Sitting Duck Zone”… a “target rich environment” for a shooter.

The only thing that stops a shooter is someone else with a gun.

That was true at Columbine, true at Virginia Tech, true at Fort Hood.

Making an area a “Gun Free Zone” does NOT make it more safe.
It makes the are LESS safe.

A “Gun Free Zone” only disarms the law-abiding gun owners, and means more people die if a shooter selects it as a target.

Kerry Robertson, 17, and Mark McDougall, 25, haven’t broken any law. But they are on the run from the authorities, and from their home in Dunfermline, Scotland.
Less than eight weeks ago the couple were excitedly planning their wedding. They had booked church ceremony for the 5th of September, a Saturday. She had already chosen and bought her wedding dress. They had bought the rings, and invited 20 guests. Two days before the big day, however, social services told them that their wedding would have to be cancelled. Fife Council wrote a letter, objecting to the marriage, to Dunfermline Register Office, who consequently refused to marry the couple.

Social services claim Kerry cannot understand what marriage means, because she has learning difficulties. They are mild, it seems. She is able to read and write, and is going to college to “catch up.” Her partner Mark told the Daily Mail: “’I didn’t even know she had learning difficulties until we’d been dating for two months.”

Kerry is 29 weeks pregnant – with a boy they have named Ben. “Although Ben isn’t born yet,” Kerry says, “I already love my baby and know I will be a good mum. Mark and I talk to him inside me every day and tell him we love him. We’ve already bought him clothes and my cousin, who recently had a baby, has handed down a beautiful crib for him.”

Social services say that Kerry – a college student – isn’t intelligent enough to bring up her child with Mark. They plan to allow the couple only a few hours with Ben after he is born. Then Ben will be taken from Kerry and Mark, and placed with foster parents.

Forced sterilization, euthanasia-with dignity of course-shall we call it the John Holdren Project-AKA WackJobsUnitedForEvil- or do they have one of their own to use?

Here in Virginia, come Tuesday, an Islamic killer is supposed to get the needle. I lived in No. Virginia during the “terror” of the Beltway Sniper. In this case, I am wholeheartely in favor of the death penalty. I remember being very uncomfortable filling my gas tank, and, like others, looking around all the time for anything suspicious, plus the times when roads were closed as they looked for a “white van”. The shooting of Linda Franklin at the Home Depot occurred about 2 miles from my house. I’m sure the others here, like Gabe, can remember the days well. I no longer live in the D.C. area; having moved to the Hampton Roads area. I see he and Malvo scouted this area out too. Thank goodness for bridge bottlenecks and traffic. He noted that escape would be difficult around here. Kaine won’t issue anything for him and I doubt the court will do the same. If he expects “paradise” he may be in for a surprise. The punishment will continue.

    graysonret,

Yeah. I lived in Clarendon at the time, shopped at that Home Depot earlier that day, and my soon to be wife was terrified. You never really realize just how many white panel vans there are on the road.

I was on my honeymoon, actually, when they were captured. That made for a nice gift.

Know Clarendon well, Chap. At one time, many, many years ago, I dispatched for Red Top Cab, there on Hudson Street. I was also one of the original people to move over to Blue Top when it went into operation. Far cry from the medical field, now. :)

    Gosh, you’re easy to please.

In case you’re still around, I apologize for joining in with WarEagle in refering to you as a “tool”.

Anyone notice the Progressive Insurance commercial where the wife emasculates the man by making him wear a ‘European Man Bag”?

This kind of ’subtle’ message regarding ‘gender neutrality’ or whatever the libs/tranny/freaks call it really piss me off.

How about “Progressive” marketing to gays and lesbians.
