You have to view this segment of the Meet the Press interview with Army chief of staff General George Casey to believe it — to believe that our army could be led by someone as incompetent in national security matters as this man showed he was, first by claiming that the army hadn’t “missed anything” in regard to the in-your-face warning signs exhibited by Major Hasan that he was a fanatical Muslim jihadist and an imminent threat to massacre our troops, by admitting that the army’s diversity policies had trumped its security policies, and worst of all by making this statement: ‘As horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.’”
Once again: Political correctness is the handmaiden of terror.

Napolitano should resign today. It is only through an atmosphere of political correctness, and also fear of intelligence personnel doing their jobs and getting prosecuted for it (hello Eric Holder) that this was allowed to happen. Heads need to roll. This is so incredibly disgusting, I’m speechless. Everybody on this blog needs to write letters to their senators and congressmen demanding accountability. Mine are going out right after I submit this post. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Casey’s constant drone about avoiding a backlash this weekend sickens me nearly as much as Hasan’s actions. There is no evidence of a backlash. If we cannot identify and root out radical Islamists among us then we are defeated. The leader of the Army does not sound like a man that understands this. I suspect he takes marchign orders from the CiC
I don’t know if one of your other posts has this, but ABCNews is reporting (via Drudge) that Major Hasan made contact with or attempted to make contact with Al Qaeda and our intelligence apparatus knew about it.
If our “homeland security” department could take some time out from trying to classify political opponents as extremists and our President could take some time out from borrowing spending money from our kids and apologizing to our enemies and actually “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States”, it would sure be appreciated.

The radio keeps reporting that Hassan is “in stable condition”. Some medic needs to “unstabilize” him and do the world a favor.

Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, recognized Mr. Owens election and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”
Maybe if Janet Napolitano hadn’t been spending so much time scrutinizing “tea-bag people” she could have connected the dots on the worst domestic terrorism since 9/11.
Instead of asking “are there more like him?”, our government is more concerned about ensuring that there’s no backlash against Muslims. (Obviously, by “backlash” they mean preventing people from saying anything when one of their colleagues says non-believers should be beheaded).
General Casey is an idiot and a wuss.
“Backlash against muslims” in the American military because of Ft Hood? Haven’t our soldiers been killed by the thousands in Iraq and Iran by Sunni and Shia muslims? And have our soldiers retaliated by shooting the muslim Americans serving in OUR military?

I long for the days when disgraced soldiers like Casey would be publicly stripped of rank, their insignia literally ripped off their uniforms, and drummed out of camp.
Ralph Peters was on O’Reilly on Friday night and he was amazing. He called the Fort Hood slaughter what it is–terrorism. Rush just talked about his article in one of the papers. I didn’t catch the name of the paper but I’m sure it would be easy to find it.

On a side note, this is all amazing considering all military installations are non-armory gun free zones. Because when seconds count the MPs are only minutes away.
We have to replace homeland security with its earlier concept, civil defense. During World War II, civil defense was every American’s responsibility, not just a group of bureaucrats trying to look professional. “Loose lips sink ships” was a popular civil defense aphorism.
In the present circumstances, enlisted personnel should be encouraged to contact outside outlets over their suspicions if the chain of command is bottled up by dolts like Gen. Casey.

The US military is also being infiltrated by the Leftist cancer. Remember that many Pentagon bureaucrats came out for Kerry and later Obama. A defanged military is a major goal in their takeover plan.
Hasan is BIG example of the PC, social engineering experiment that the military, and especially the Army, has become. I would love to ask Gen. Casey how it’s working out for the Army accepting any and anyone who hasn’t graduated high school, done drugs, or has a rap sheet. The “good” general is willfully blind because he’s paid to be good little political general. I’m beginning to think that some Lt. and full bird colonels are not far behind him in that regard.
It is pretty obvious that Hasan couldn’t spell but that he wasn’t that talented a shrink. He was out and out proselytizing his patients and arguing with them over the war. What military shrink would do such a thing? He should have been discharged a long time ago.
No, I think Hasan, like many in the military medical corps and JAG, use the military (AKA the taxpayer) to fund their schooling and do the least amount of “mediocre” service in the military before they can get out. It’s too bad that dupes like Casey, Gates, Schwartz (of the Air Force) don’t have the slightest clue the huge amount of losers and users that now “serve” in the military.
For people like Hasan, who showed early signs that their military service wasn’t a priority, the military is the only way to get ahead. Unfortunateley, there are many people like Hasan in the military who will never understand or adhere to the following motto: “service before self.” They just don’t have it in them.
Political correctness is the shield terrorists hide openly behind. It has to stop for our survival.

Putting a few women in a long metal tube full of horny seamen for months at a time puts a huge unnecessary stress on everyone involved. Those currently on the subs know it is a very bad idea.
Why do their opinions not count?
Believe me, I’m not leaving out the likes of people like Casey for who’s responsible for the current PC, social experimentation of the military. I’m not letting him, or any of the other political, Pentagon appointees off the hook.
However, I’m not discounting how these same political appointees have enabled the likes of Hasan to serve in the military when they shouldn’t have. When someone like Hasan says he’s a Muslim before he’s an American that should have compelled his colleagues to lodge formal complaints as to his competency to serve in a position of trust like that of a military shrink.
As a military spouse, I’ve seen how not only active duty personnel, but even the medical contractors have no business in positions of power like that. Not just because of their vociferous oposition to the wars, but their very bedside manners and personal behavior to suggest that they’re too imcompetent to put the military first.
While most serve in the military for the right reasons, people like Hasan aren’t. I’m not saying that all Muslim servicemembers are like him, but I’m saying that the military has loosened restriction on who and who cannot join. This incident needs to be looked at, studied, and used to reexamine who and who cannot serve in matters of not only physical, but mental competence.
This guy had Coward written all over him. An officer refusing to deploy when the men and women he is supposed to be leading go? Even if you decided for whatever reason you are a CO, an honorable officer would still go and face what they faced.

As I recall, this was Markos Moulitsas’ (Mr Daily Kos) take on his military “service”. The military exists to give young people travel and cultural enlightenment, and provide them with training and funds for college. They should never be asked to shoot at someone.

Islam has never had a reformation. The result is that it remains violent in its outlook and behavior. If you offend a Muslim in someway, and you are an infidel, then the Muslim feels that he has a right and even duty to kill you (as they do in many countries around the world). If, on the other hand, a Muslim offends any other religious person, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, HIndus, etc, then that is to be expected and tolerated. This can only lead to violence.
Frankly, the constant federal government attempts to appease Islamic religious fanatics will lead to a world war as was the case when much of Europe appeased the NAZIs. Frankly, we don’t need Muslims in the military if we make it clear that Islamic games will not be tolerated and that discussions will be held on the basis of mutual respect not political correctness.
If there is one thing these people respect it is force. They certainly do not respect any law other than that in the Koran.

I noticed a while ago at Hot Air that LGF had jumped from the “Right Channels” to the “Left Channels” column. Guess Charlie Johnson has gone Hollywood with the PJTV crowd. Johnson was one of the key players in Rathergate. It’s a shame.
PC is one of the reasons I escaped from the Navy after twenty years. I was originally going to stay for 30, but I knew I would be slashing my wrists if I saw the Navy deteriorate any more.
PatriotRider, from your handle I will assume you are prior service military. Do you advocate arming the troops on every base? You obviously have never had to take a loaded pistol away from a drunk, depressed and angry Marine at the barracks at 2 am as the Duty NCO; I have and I can tell you it is a bad idea. The answer is to be VERY critical of those of Middle Eastern lineage- PC be damned. Just like regular crime, the answer is not new laws, it is prosecuting the existing laws without watering them down in order not to offend.
Frankly speaking, if the Army cannot rid itself of elements like this then I fear the Republic is already terminal if not yet deceased.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that many in authority knew what this guy was doing and simply did nothing. In the end, it doesn’t matter why they abrogated their duty to the service and the constitution. They knew what was going on and they did nothing. If the Army has come to this then no segment of the government can possibly do any better.
