The Beltway snipers and the Fort Hood killer: Peas in a jihad-inspired pod; Update: Hasan is awake, talking

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 9, 2009 09:16 AM

John Allen Muhammad is scheduled to be executed tomorrow for the Beltway-area sniper spree that left 10 innocent people dead in 2002.

Several family members of the victims will attend.

At the time of the murderous rampage that stretched over three, horror-filled weeks, I lived in Montgomery County, Maryland, where Muhammad and his young partner in crime, Lee Malvo, wreaked bloody havoc. I covered two main aspects of the story that were underplayed by the MSM–Lee Malvo’s illegal alien catch-and-release story and Nation of Islam convert Muhammad and Malvo’s Muslim hate-mongering. Snide MSM’ers and the CAIR propagandists attacked those of who called these thugs what they are: terrorists.

The parallels with the Fort Hood case — jihad-inspired killers, media whitewash — are striking. They’re the parallels you can’t talk about without being labeled a bigot, racist, or “extremist.”

A reminder of what Muhammad and Malvo plotted:

Malvo testified that Muhammad, driven by hatred of America because of its “slavery, hypocrisy and foreign policy” and his belief that “the white man is the devil”, planned to kill six whites a day for 30 days.

Malvo alleged that Muhammad had said: “We are going to go to the Washington DC area and we are going to terrorise these people.”

They then intended to move to Baltimore for stage two of their campaign, to shoot a policeman and then blow up explosives at his funeral.

More explosives would target the ambulances that would then rush to the funeral. Another plan to kill three busloads of schoolchildren was thwarted because the pair were arrested when Malvo fell asleep while keeping watch at a Maryland petrol station.

Muhammad’s ultimate plan, Malvo testified, was to indoctrinate 140 young homeless men at a Canada compound who would “shut things down” in cities across America, unless they received £5 million.

And what kind of indoctrination would Muhammad and Malvo’s army have received to prepare them for their terrorist assaults on American cities? The jailhouse drawings of Malvo are worth a thousands words. I’ve dug them up again from the Wayback Machine to refresh your memories:

But hey, let’s not “rush to judgment.”

ABC News reports: Intelligence officials were aware of Fort Hood killer’s attempts to contact al Qaeda.

From the NEFA Foundation:

The NEFA Foundation has obtained a statement issued by Anwar al Awlaki, an Al-Qaida-linked U.S. citizen, titled “Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing” in which al Awlaki profusely praised the Fort Hood shooter: “Nidal Hassan is a hero. He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people…The US is leading the war against terrorism which in reality is a war against Islam. Its army is directly invading two Muslim countries and indirectly occupying the rest through its stooges.” Al Awlaki continued, “Nidal opened fire on soldiers who were on their way to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. How can there be any dispute about the virtue of what he has done? In fact the only way a Muslim could Islamically justify serving as a soldier in the US army is if his intention is to follow the footsteps of men like Nidal.” Further, “The heroic act of brother Nidal also shows the dilemma of the Muslim American community. Increasingly they are being cornered into taking stances that would either make them betray Islam or betray their nation. Many amongst them are choosing the former. The Muslim organizations in America came out in a pitiful chorus condemning Nidal’s operation.”

NYPost on Hasan’s mosque of evil:

Army massacre fiend Nidal Malik Hasan attended a Virginia mosque at the same time as two of the 9/11 hijackers — and the FBI is now investigating whether there is a connection between the men, an official confirmed yesterday.

Maj. Hasan — the Army psychiatrist accused of fatally shooting 13 people and wounding 29 others at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday — had held his mother’s funeral at the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., in May 2001.

The mosque’s imam at the time was the ultraradical Anwar Aulaqi, thought to have ties to Osama bin Laden.

After 9/11, the controversial imam admitted to the FBI that he had met with Nawaf al-Hazmi, one of the hijackers who crashed a jet into the Pentagon.

Al-Hazmi and another hijacker, Hani Hanjour, had attended the imam’s mosque in early April 2001 — the same time Hasan’s family worshipped there.

The Falls Church mosque is one of the largest on the East Coast, and thousands attend prayers and services there.

The mosque’s outreach director, Imam Abdul-Malik, said it’s a mistake for people to tie regular attendance at a mosque to extremism.

Many Muslims pray at the mosque several times a day, he said. “It’s part of family life. It’s like going out for ice cream after dinner,” he added.

The possible association among Hasan, the hijackers and the radical imam only fueled fears that the Fort Hood murders were more than just the work of one disturbed person.

Hasan was scheduled to be deployed soon to Afghanistan, and that might have fueled his deadly rage, officials said.

But clearly, the massacre might have been an act of terrorism, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said yesterday.

“I want to say very quickly we don’t know enough to say now, but there are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act,” Lieberman told “Fox News Sunday.”

Either way, the Army should have booted the deeply disturbed Hasan the moment he showed any signs of Islamic extremism, said Lieberman, who heads the Senate’s Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Hasan’s classmates at the Uniformed Services University, the military college where he recently took master’s courses, said they repeatedly griped to higher-ups about his constant anti-American rants.

One said he warned superiors that the raging Hasan was a “ticking time bomb” after he made a presentation defending Islamic suicide bombers.

Another classmate said he complained to five officers and two civilian faculty members.

He wrote in a document sent to Pentagon officials that fear in the military of being seen as politically incorrect prevented an “intellectually honest discussion of Islamic ideology” in the ranks.

Lieberman said, “If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the US Army has to have zero tolerance. He should have been gone.”

Where’s blind, deaf, and dumb DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s “situational awareness” now?

***

Jim Geraghty notes that the DHS website has no mention of Fort Hood four days after the massacre.

Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hassan is awake and talking.

U.S. Army hospital spokesman says the man suspected in a deadly shooting spree at Fort Hood, Texas, is conscious and able to talk.

Dewey Mitchell, a spokesman at Brooke Army Medical Center, says Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan remains in stable condition. Mitchell says Hasan has been awake and able to talk since he was taken off a ventilator Saturday.

Hasan is at Brooke Medical Center in San Antonio, about 150 miles southwest of Fort Hood.

Wonder if he asked for a Koran yet.

To the best of my knowledge Hasan did not have an American flag or pro life sticker on his car so he is not really a terrorist.

If they would hang him on Pay For View we could raise a big sum for the families of the murdered.

It is key that this not be labelled a terrorist attack. Key to Barack Obama’s Islamic appeasement agenda and key to the administrations claim that “No terrorist event has happened on our watch”. Most have forgotten about the DC killers. I remember them very well since we lived in Howard County Maryland at the time. It is difficult to describe the underlying fear one has when you live in an area where people are hunted like animals and shot to death. It became a daily ritual for me to turn on the televsion in the early morning to see if something had happened the night before and where.

Since the news reports did not reveal the victim immediately for obvious reasons, but told you the place where it happened and who was dead. I remember watching the video closely to see if any cars were recognizable to me and if it had occurred in the area where my sons lived. When I went to the supermarket, Home Depot or just about anywhere, I remember being careful to not walk out in the open and in a straight line, because people were advised that it made for a better target. If that isn’t terrorism then I’m crazy.

This man, along with the illegal alien that the immigration people lost track of, murdered 10 people in cold blood in the name of Allah. these two ‘American jihadists’ targeted people getting gas for their car, one pregnant women who was shopping at mall with her husband and one young boy age 13 was shot in the early morning as his aunt dropped him off for school in Carroll County. He lost a kidney, had serious internal injuries and was in the trauma unit for months. I do not know what happened to this child, and how this atrocious act altered his life and future. God knows if he survived. I hope so.

The government’s ‘excuse policy” for Hasan was predictable, driven by the Obama administration and the cultural relativity that overrides anything else, including the safety of our soldiers in our own country at a military base. Ultimately it puts us all at risk and makes us look like fools.

Not all Muslims should be blamed for this man’s actions, but there are many that agree with it who live right here in this country. They do not belong in the military. Someone that is counseling returning soldiers from Afghanistan and Iraq and has no business accusing them of murdering Muslims and offending Allah. He should have been removed from the service immediately, but ‘fear of profiling’ overrode the danger he presented. We paid 1/2 million dollars for his medical school education….. in lieu of his borrowing money for medical school, it was free and he was obligated to the military for a number of years of service. He didn’t want to do that…. he hated what the military and the US stood for but was quite willing to take their free education. He murdered as many young soldiers as he could in order to effect terror on the country to change our policies in the middle east….that is, of course, what terroism is all about. He is a terroist regardless of what Shepherd Smith on Fox continues to say. Just like the DC killers.

Every one of these people need to pay for what they have done. They are dangerous enemies and should be treated like the animals they are.

Yeah, if it fails they’ll yank his Nobel Putz Prize.

I was a kid during the “Cold War”. In grade school the Civil Service people came and conducted nuclear attack drills. On cue, everyone in class had to “duck and cover”, under your desk. (and DO NOT look out the window) Then we had to crawl single file on hands and knees into the central hallway, and sit with our backs to the bricks and put our heads between our knees. (We figured to kiss our a$$ goodbye). In Boy Scouts we studied how to build a fallout shelter in your basement – A cool idea I thought, but dad wasn’t interested.

I swear, I am 100 times more worried about our national security now than I ever was then.

May the families of Muhammad’s victims find peace.

For 1500 years now-but let us not rush to judgment. From Fort Hood to the Beltway to Constantinople it is always a damn Mohamed or Hussein. Richard the Lion Heart-you are needed.

I object to the fact that human blood was used to save Hasan’s life. They should have used pig blood.

Arizona, you are so right. “Lets not rush to judgement.” – 1,500 years was not long enough ponder that question?

Maybe it’s time to shut the Mosque of Evil Down. It Gives Islam A Bad Name.

I can’t imagine those people going to that Mosque don’t think for a minute law enforcement isn’t paying attention to what’s going on with the clergy, and the attendees.

Hasan had been in since before 2001 that’s at least 9 years in service he is a Major since May….he has no dependents just himself. Hasan would have had a good size BHA because of his grade and time in service. His apartment was reportedly around $300.00 and something a month. He got more than that for BHA. So what’s up with that he was probably pulling down 6 figures a year. Someone needs to check exactly his Officer Grade and Time in Service. He was living modestly, and he didn’t have to.

I don’t care if Hasan talks or not – the only thing that should happen is that his head is put on a pike outside Fort Hood as a warning to others…
