Here comes Harrycare!

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 11, 2009 01:12 AM

A few weeks ago, intrepid Harry Reid was telling us he wouldn’t be “bound by any timelines” and wouldn’t rush the government health care takeover through the Senate on a White House-imposed schedule.

Neeeever mind:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) late Tuesday laid the groundwork for the Senate’s healthcare reform debate to start next Tuesday.

Reid filed a motion to introduce the bill on Monday, Nov. 16. Anticipating a Republican objection, the bill would be pushed onto the Senate calendar.

“A motion to proceed to the bill would be in order the next legislative day,” said Reid spokesman Jim Manley.

In doing so, Reid heeded the advice of former President Bill Clinton, who visited Senate Democrats Tuesday at their weekly caucus lunch and urged them to move quickly to pass health reform…

…Reid’s action late Tuesday sets up a critical vote next week on a motion to proceed to the bill. Such a motion would require 60 votes to succeed — an important, early test of the Democratic caucus’s unity on procedural votes.

Yes, by all means, keep heeding Bill Clinton’s advice and may Obamacare/Pelosicare/Reidcare go the way of Clintoncare: Straight to the graveyard of failed ideas.

Speaking of which…the White House is still leaving the door open to abusing the budget reconciliation process to ram the government health care takeover through.

Has anyone seen the Harrycare bill yet? It’s still vapor.

Once again: Welcome to the death of deliberative democracy.

I phoned my (my) Senator Reid’s office today and told his assistant Jamie that I expect her boss to make enrollment in the plan compulsory for every Senator who votes for it.

I reminded her that right now, the House plan is good enough for illegal aliens, but not good enough for Congress.

If it’s not good enough for Congress, it’s not good enough for me.

    Jamie did not laugh.

Bring it Harry. BTW, have you checked your latest job approval polls? Hovering around 20% last time I looked. You know, Harry, your assessment regarding when a war is lost is not very reliable. The other one wasn’t, this one is…and this is the one you will chose to fight?

You’ll need to empoly reconciliation. You know it’s the only way to get ‘er done. Then this whole steaming pile of pork droppings will be struck down as unconstitutional, and you and your bizarre bunch of politicritters will crash and burn.

    Bring it Harry. Please!

In a case that raises questions about online journalism and privacy rights, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a formal request to an independent news site ordering it to provide details of all reader visits on a certain day.

The grand jury subpoena also required the Philadelphia-based Indymedia.us Web site “not to disclose the existence of this request” unless authorized by the Justice Department, a gag order that presents an unusual quandary for any news organization.

Yes, by all means, keep heeding Bill Clinton’s advice and may Obamacare/Pelosicare/Reidcare go the way of Clintoncare: Straight to the graveyard of failed ideas.

An earlier list suggested that both VA senators could be worth calling, despite not being up for re-election. Some of the electorate do remember things, after all, and if this bill went through the results might be apparent before some of these senators are up for re-election. (There almost certainly would have been dramatic public fights over some of the stupider provisions by that time.) So don’t not call your person just because they’re not up!

You know, a part of me – deep down inside – is wondering if Bill Clinton didn’t make those “tea-bagger” comments specifically to direct more ire at Congress.

After all, Obama pretty much screwed over Hillary Clinton in the primaries, and has overshadowed the legacy Clinton, so wouldn’t it be schadenfreude for Clinton to help kill Obamacare?

    Just a theory…

Till then–be prepared–”arm up” just in case. But at present–Comrade Obama (PBUH) and his “democRAT” / liberal / socialist / statist / marxist / communist supporters are getting more rope to hang themselves with every day. Never intervene when the enemy is trying to commit suicide!
    ***
When the tax increases and more Malvo style sniper attacks and / or Fort Hood style terrorist attacks hit home they will be toast in the 2010 and 2012 elections. At present it is TIME FOR BALLOTS–NOT BULLETS! No need for the much less effective bayonets yet.

SARAH’CUDA for POTUS, JOHN BOLTON for VP. The AMERICA FIRST ticket you can believe in. Close the Republican primaries to crossover voters to keep the democRATS from picking our candidates. Vote out all democRATS, RINO’s, and corrupticans.

“Ok, we know it will get stopped here!…”
“wait, we just know it will get stopped here.”

When will you people wake up?
The lunatics in the house and the senate don’t care if they lose the elections in 2010. They are set for life financially and will live like kings and queens while the rest of the US suffers and dies under tyranny. Healthcare isn’t their “latest powergrab”, it is their final sprint to the finish line.
Michelle and others have spent the lat year organizing tea-parties and various protests which have had what effect? None that is measurable. Where one item is defeated, it is merely re-introduced with even more garbage attached.
Should we have sat back and done nothing? No. But focusing readers hopeless causes is a waste of time when you could be studying history and learning how to survive the coming changes that this country is going to go through.
Conservatives have been accused of “clinging to their guns and bibles”, but conservatives also have a bad habit of “clinging to the way it was”.

When the continued economic damage and international arena damage to our country increases over the next few years they are toast. They will not be able to win the 2010 and 2012 elections when all pay the much higher taxes and energy costs their plans and actions are bringing us soon.

Vote them out in these elections. Teaparty them at all opportunities. The American “sheeple” will wake up soon and see who is screwing them over now.

You’ve got it right, JonB. People are only deluding themselves if they think all of this phone-calling and letter-writing is going to make any difference.

You know what would really get the Left to thinking? A sudden stone silence from the right, followed by major ammunition purchases, purchases of survival gear, and purchases of survival food.

You see, as long as Conservatives are whining, complaining, and writing, the Lefties know the Right is expending it’s energies on those activities. When it becomes obvious that the Right is preparing for a civil war and bloodshed, Then the Left will know it’s reached the “threshhold”.

Nothing else will get the message across. Americans have the RIGHT and DUTY to throw out a tyrannical government. Our founding fathers said so.
