I agree! The importance of starting to work NOW to ensure honest elections in 2010, cannot be overstated!

Demanding a recount in NY-23 would be a good way to expose any potential sources of corruption that may exist in that district.

According to the article:

Conklin said the state sent a letter to the House Clerk last week explaining that no winner had been determined in the 23rd District, and therefore the state had not certified the election. But the letter noted that Owens still led by about 3,000 votes, and that the special election was not contested — two factors that legally allowed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to swear in Owens on Friday. “We sent a letter to the clerk laying out the totals,” Conklin said. “The key is that Hoffman conceded, which means the race is not contested. However, all ballots will be counted, and if the result changes, Owens will have to be removed.”

What if Doug Hoffman was the winner in the NY23rd House race, and not David Owen? The short story here is that “errors in the vote count have narrowed” between Democrat David Owens and Conservative Doug Hoffman in the special election for the U.S ……

Can anyone show any evidence of any of these election snafus ever causing a Democrat to think they should concede or to have lost a race? When are we going to wake up and smell the corruption?

I do not believe that his “concession” has any lawful import. If he wins when the ballots are counted, he has the right to be the sitting Congressman.

Whether he wins or not, I’m thrilled about this turn of events. Maybe it will kind of shut up these talking heads that had to continually toss insults at the conservatives for “splitting” the Republican party.
I say keep our fingers crossed for Hoffman, and lets go for it conservatives!!!

This really had very little to do with the outcome of the health care vote.

Pelosi told enough Dems they could vote against it (to supposedly save themselves) yet she could still have it pass.

Without Owens, she would have released one fewer Democrat – or more likely, twisted one more arm. (It’s kind of like on Jeopardy, where the victory is almost always by $1.)
