The Stimulus Jobs Inflation Map
A few weeks ago, I said we needed a new metric for all the bogus jobs claimed by the Obama White House. I called it the “Stimulus Jobs Inflation Index.”
The Examiner does even better — creating a handy, interactive Stimulus Jobs Inflation Map.
More than ten percent of the jobs the Obama administration has claimed were “created or saved” by the $787 billion stimulus package are doubtful or imaginary, according to reports compiled from eleven major newspapers and the Associated Press.
Based only on our analysis of stimulus media coverage in the last two weeks, The Examiner has created this interactive map to document exaggerated stimulus claims. The map, which will be updated as new revelations appear, currently reflects an exaggeration by the Obama administration of about 75,000 jobs, out of the 640,000 jobs supposedly “created or saved.”
The map reflects reports from The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, the Sacramento Bee, The New York Times, USA Today, the Las Vegas Sun, the Detroit Free Press, the New York Post, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Associated Press, the Chicago Tribune, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It remains a work in progress because relatively few newspapers have scrutinized stimulus spending so far.
The Obama administration has claimed that the $787 billion economic stimulus package “saved or created” some 650,000 jobs. But almost as soon as the White House trotted out this figure, news organizations found huge exaggerations in the reported data. Many of the jobs reportedly created do not exist or cannot be accounted for.
All the map needs is one of our Wreckovery.gov logos!

Obama:I don’t need no stinkin map, I won, and I’m driving the bus now!
More like 90% of the jobs were imagined, and the other 10% were in government.
Let’s see…a government program creates waste and/or fraud (shocking, I know), and we’re supposed to buy that another massive government program, the health care bill, is going to be funded by elminating waste and fraud?
The (hopefully only) four year joke without a punchline continues.
Just looked at Power line about an article similar. Seems under the stimulus package, Wis gained a large number of congressional districts. Veeerry Interesting.Loved that district number 00. Har Har Har.
The rationale behind the estimates of Stimulus Program jobs is so reminscent of the body count mentality from the Vietnam era.
mmm mmm mmm Lyndon Baines Obama
*The saddest part is that all of this overreaching effort and intervention by the Feds from TARP going forward will have caused millions of jobs to be lost forever; The private sector creates jobs and careers, but P-BO and his administration has seen fit to sideline them until who knows when.
Just today, Bernanke stated that the economy has to create 100,000 new jobs each month just to keep pace with population growth. We have lost over 7 million jobs over the past 18 months or so and are still hemorrhaging jobs at about 200,000 jobs per month.
Bernanke also stated that he sees very little job creation potential until 2011 although he considers his opinion to be rosier than the consensus among leading economists.
We will continue to lose jobs even if “manufacturing” activity grows because we import most of the parts. Our imports are programmed to exceed our exports.
And the CAPEX and venture capital that creates tomorrow’s jobs is also being outsourced to China and India. In other words, our companies are not investing in future America jobs, they are investing to create the very jobs we will be forced to compete against.
So let’s sum up. Dollar continues to plummet. Economy stagnates. Higher global commodity prices. Fewer jobs available. Sounds like STAGFLATION to me!
Guess they learned to do this “creative” math by community organizin’…
Is there an Alinsky rule to lie? Ah, yes, how about this one:
In war the end justifies almost any means.
Remember, also, to “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
The “stimulus” was never about stimulating the economy.
It was about redistribution of wealth – taking from us who pay taxes and giving it to Democratic Socialist causes.
They are literally taking Billions of our tax dollars and using them against us and our interests.
It was about creating a slush fund for the 2010 election cycle.
Democrats = Liars.
I’m upset at Obama for taking credit for all the jobs saved. First of all, he didn’t fund the stimulus, we did. And second, I think I should get some credit for the jobs I’ve saved. Why just today I gassed up my car and saved a job at the gas station. Then I bought groceries and save a job at the store. I left my lights on at home and save a job at the power company. I heated my house and save a job at the gas company.
But, in the spirit of fairness, I must admit that I have been watching Fox news instead of CNN and Lou Dobbs lost his job. I guess I can’t save every job. But the ones I did were saved without any stimulus money and without help from Obama.
I also managed to redistribute wealth without Obama’s help when I payed my bills. I’ve been doing that my whole life. That’s why, after 25 years of hard work, I’m still poor. Come to think of it, my wife has done a more efficient job of redistributing my wealth than Obama could ever hope to do.
Here in Oregon, we got 2.2 BILLION Dollars. $1.9 billion went to “Health and Human services,” meaning food stamps and Medicaid and creating ZERO jobs, $497 Million on “education,” meaning raises for existing staff, creating ZERO jobs,
and I guess they just squandered the rest…..
So let’s see. $787 billion divided by 650,000 jobs… That’s 1… carry the 1… check the remainder…
$1.2 Million Dollars per job. (Actually 1,210,769.23 per job if we give them the benefit of the doubt that 650,000 is correct. In reality, the number is higher.)
Have I got a deal for them! They can save a big chunk of change by paying me directly to “save” my job for a mere $750,000.
We’re quibbling about 75,000? Why isn’t someone asking about the rest of those jobs that are claimed to have been created/saved?
10% is a “huge exaggeration”?
Maybe the Chicago way works in Chicago, but try it on the whole country and it will blow up in your face.
Prepare for 2010!
SixDegrees,
Did you read this part?
If they’ve found 10% with just a cursory examination, imagine what a full investigation would produce.
I was hoping that I would never relive the Jimmeh Cottah years, but here we go again! Where’s the next Ronnie Reagan?
Obama will soon have you looking back on the Carter years as the good old days.
I heard on one of the local talk radio shows that the Brits are now selling certificates to give as gifts that say you have paid, the value of the certificate, on the national debt.
Who’d of thunk?
If I had checked that voluntary $1 donation to the Presidential Campaign Fund on my tax returns, I would have saved 238 jobs.
Jeez, I’m such a selfish, unpatriotic b@stard!

HI DAN708. I lived through the Carter years also. I feel a lot worse now than I did then–Comrade Obama (PBUH) is Jimmy Carter II–on steroids! He has trashed the country and economy far faster than Jimmy Peanut ever did.

As far as looking for the next President Reagan–her name is SARAH PALIN–she lives in Alaska. Study her personal life and her actions as Governor in Alaska. I don’t see anyone else that can win who has the real conservative “fire in the gut”.

Obama qualifies for too stipid to know how stupid he is.
Rush Limbaugh is reporting that the Obama administration has a $16 million website reporting these “jobs created or saved” in congressional districts that don’t even exist.
I’m listening to THE ONE talking to the Chinese right now, and I want to slap some sense into this moron. I swear, as dumb as GWB is, Obama makes Bush look like Winston Churchill in comparison. Obama’s stupidity boggles the imagination.
I think Obama’s failure will come to shock Carter someday. As bad as Carter’s presidency was, Obama’s will make a lot of us pine for the 1970′s again. We’re going to face an economy more like FDR’s than Carter’s.
I think most people with any common sense don’t trust the numbers coming out of our government these days.
However, there is one number produced by the Obama Administration that is incontrovertible:
This Administration has been in office for 10 months. There has been a net loss of American jobs in every single one of those months.
Way to go, Barry O, you’re batting zero, zero, zero.
Let’s not jump to any conclusions.
Let’s do the math. $787,000,000,000 divided by 657,000 = $1,165,925.93 per job created or saved!
Outstanding!
This may be the most successful leftard program ever conceived!
Well Obama lied …
The Democrats lied …
The Republicans lied …
***YAWN***
Not news.
If you can’t believe anything these people tell you, why in the world would you not be clamoring for the BIRTH CERTIFICATE? Everything else they tell you is a lie. Why not that?

He can’t be that stupid.
First of all, he sold this package of snake oil to the American people, and they bought it with the income of their remaining lives, as well as their children. He was very clear during the campaign that he was going to do all of this. Who’s more stupid? The politician with bad ideas or the voters who elect him?
No. Obama is a very shrewd and smart man. He is destroying our economy on purpose. He knew beforehand that the “stimulus” wouldn’t keep unemployment down. In fact, he probably knew we’d be looking at 10-15% in record time.
This is all a ploy to get you to buy into his “solution” when things get so dire that no one has any choice but to give him what he wants. What do you think he was talking about in February when he suggested we may never recover? Are you really so foolish as to believe that he thought his stimulus would actually help? Or are you wise enough to know that he knew even then that his so-called “stimulus” would only hasten the country’s economic demise.
It’s all part of his plan. Make no mistake about it.

Remember when Obama said there were 57 states? HELLO! That’s where all those missing districts are!
For all the protestations from the “administration” that these errors are simply typos and such, I have yet to hear of any numbers that were accidently understated. It seems the only errors are the ones that sound good.
