Someone needs to go back and dig up some of the early criticisms of Reagan when he became a national conservative figure. The comparison to Palin's treatment now may scare the Dems even more.

emjem, that's exactly what jerks like zzzz and silver crap want you to think. That's why there are trolls on this thread. They want to demoralize us and think that we can't win, i.e., have Palin as president. Don't let them or the lamestreams define the outcome of this contest. I think Palin will run and win because her numbers are rising, and Obama's is sinking. Keep the faith.

I have nothing against Palin, and think she’d be a good president at another time in history, but I don’t think she’s a good presidential candidate this time. Unfortunately, no matter how “strong” a woman appears to be, a female should not be president, secretary of state, head of homeland security, head of defense, or in charge of any government entity related to the defense or negotiating powers of the USA at this time. Our enemies believe women are objects to be controlled and used. Having females in control of our nation’s military and homeland defense capabilities reduces our standing in the eyes of our Islamic militant enemies and invites attacks upon US soil. They will only respect someone with the perceived strength and cunning of a John Wayne like character. Ronald Reagan was such a character – just the threat of his swearing in as President forced the release of the hostages in Iran.

Bulls**t. Ever hear of Margaret Thatcher?

Palin has a spine of steel. She won't blink and she won't back down - look at what she has taken from the lamestream media - and that was personal. She would humiliate the Arab world because they would have to deal with a powerful woman who isn't afraid to kick their asses, and that is exactly what we need.

If the socialist collective is so damn good, then why do the collectivists fear the free individual? In my opinion, it is because socialists know, deep down, that the free individual is the road to success for all – but they are so power hungry that they cannot abide the free individual working to improve himself, his family, his country and, ultimately, his allegiance to God.

Well said. While the far left claims that they are the ones who stand for individual choice and freedom, nearly every policy they espouse takes away individual choice and freedom.

In the name of "fairness" they seek to give big brother the power to decide what speech is allowed and what speech is "hate speech" that must be censored. In the name of environmentalism they deny individuals the right to use their own property or remove any oil or coal on that property. In the name of health they seek to force individuals to pay for government-run healthcare and even control their diet. In the name of animal rights (and now climate change), they seek to ban the eating of meat and to limit the use of water or anything else that might harm the most useless of endangered species. In the name of over-population, they seek to control reproduction and even force the use of sterilization and abortion to accomplish those ends...

In short, the left wants to empower government to tightly control what individuals can do. I challenge anyone to describe a typical liberal utopia that does not include a controlling "big brother" and a lot of facism.

But it is their job to be unbiased and at least put respectful pictures on the cover. It is definitely NOT the job of Newsweak to be “her opponent”.

Where is the bias or disrespect of putting a picture, that Sarah Palin posed for, on the cover of your magazine? Yep, I question the context, does it make sense, does it add to the story?

I did not suggest that Newsweek was her opponent, or that it is their job to be her opponent. Many outlets often use unflattering, embarrassing, poorly cropped, and out of context pictures of many individuals. Even MM does it.

Ever watch a sporting event? Ever see someone digging in their nose, or an overly gratuitous shot of an attractive woman? There is no conflict with regard to one being the opponent of the other. It is our tacky nature.

I mentioned, in the post (#843699) you are referencing, salaciousness and the sophomoric nature of how we portray people. Not speaking to the rightness or wrongness of doing so, just that it happens and is part of the reality of how people are presented in a variety of outlets.

I agree, but Newsweak, in practicing their unprofessional biases, have taken sides, and it is not Palin's side. I don't recall any similarly tacky photos of Obama or Democrats, but then, I try not to read tabloids like this unless I am in the dentist's office.

Misscheryl,

It was difficult to even type that, but it does get the point accross.

Even those who tried to promote Obama as "sexy" (the "I've got a crush on Obama" video by "Obama girl") portrayed him as an adult man, not a "schoolboy".

I really like the lady, she makes common sense to me. Last evening I happened upon MSNBC and Kieth Oberman, boy was he tring to do a number on Sarah Palin. Sounded like a pre-teen who lost out on a date and was bashinging the girl for giving him the brush off. Yuck-o, then at the end of his broadcast he says, "Sarah Palin" and throws his script at the camera. I have not seen a clown show like this in years, pitty the advertisers who are paying for it.

What is driving the attacks on Palin, the tea party movement, and conservatism is fear. And it is a fear deeply felt in the emptiness of liberalism. We must realize that liberals will say and do anything to accomplish their ignorant and insane ends, including ever more vitriol and violence.

It constantly amazes me that the elitists infesting much of academe, particularly in Harvard and Yale, fear intellectual debate over which is the best governing system for human beings. If the socialist collective is so damn good, then why do the collectivists fear the free individual? In my opinion, it is because socialists know, deep down, that the free individual is the road to success for all - but they are so power hungry that they cannot abide the free individual working to improve himself, his family, his country and, ultimately, his allegiance to God.
