Sunday is my 50th birthday. Got a AARP “membership kit” on Friday, right on queue.

Dog is chewing on the temporary membership card and the cats are shredding the return form as I type.

May stuff what remains in the return envelope after they get done with it.

I turn 50 next year. I started receiving these solicitations in the mail this year. I usually throw them out, but now I think I’ll return one with my own special message to AARP.

I’m 57 and have been getting AARP crap in the mail for a while. The day this thread began I got one for their auto insurance coverage. In the spirit of the thread I marked it up “no thanks liberal AARP” and sent it back to them.

It is a shame as I know a group like AARP, without a political agenda, could benenfit seniors greatly. Is there a conservative version anywhere?

A question though….
Would it not cost them more money to fill it out partially/wrong and then send it back?

Sure you want to express your opinion but I want them to F A I L.

So perhaps we should be trying to take up their staffs time and thus their money be filling out the form nice and neatly but all wrong or only partially.

What ya think?

I usually save all the coupons (pizza, dry cleaners, landscaping, etc) we receive in the mail and stuff them in the envelope to mail back.

If I am in a particularly nasty mood I throw in some of the material from our home shredder as well.

Max out the envelope and send it back!

When I received my first one I made the mistake of wasting my time writing a nice letter back telling them I would never join and to stop wasting my time and their money. Now I just crumple up the whole mailing with my pre-printed name and all and drop it in the mail box. I hope they have to pay extra postage for the odd sized envelope!

I belonged to AARP for a year or so before it became clear that they were merely a socialist/statist organization; since then, I toss the “time to renew”, “come back”, “please join” mailings.
But, now that I saw this idea, I will send the postage-paid envelopes back to them – with a political comment only, or empty, of course – so that it costs them; just like with the RNC.
