SEIU thugs lash back over Boy Scout debacle
On Monday, I spotlighted SEIU thuggery in Allentown, Pa., over a Boy Scout’s volunteer work. SEIU’s Nick Balzano threatened to file a grievance when a teenager pursuing his Eagle Scout badge contributed too much free labor clearing walking paths and improving his neighborhood.
The story, first published in The Morning Call, was picked up by Fox News and provoked a big backlash against Big Labor bullies.
SEIU is hopping mad — and spinning. Badly:
A little fact vs. fiction is needed in the latest right-wing smear against SEIU.
Fiction: An SEIU local is filing a grievance against the city of Allentown, PA because a Boy Scout cleaned a local hiking trail.
Fact: There is no fact to this claim being pushed by the disreputable Fox News and other right-wing outlets like Michelle Malkin’s accuracy challenged blog.
Fiction: Nick Balzano, who unfortunately provided the initial response to queries on the matter, is the president of SEIU or an SEIU local.
Fact: Nick Balzano is with the Allentown chapter of SEIU Local 32BJ and is NOT the president of the local or the International. Indeed, his comments were completely unauthorized and inappropriate.
Fiction: SEIU is picking a fight with the Boy Scouts of America
Fact: Nothing could be further from the truth. SEIU has a history of supporting the Boy Scouts. Indeed, just last year SEIU 1199 President George Gresham was honored by the Greater Boy Scouts of New York.
Fact: SEIU has apologized to Mayor of Allentown for this misunderstanding and is in the process of getting in contact with the Allentown Boy Scouts of America Council to apologize to scout as well.
Fact: While Nick Balzano misspoke in his exchange with a reporter, his frustration over the recently laid off workers in Allentown is a sentiment shared by families all around Pennsylvania and this country. In the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton Metropolitan Statistical Area, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate 9.5%, up from 5.9% just one year ago.
SEIU 32BJ will continue its ongoing efforts to find these men and women jobs to support their families during the upcoming Holiday season and beyond.

Fact: The Morning Call continues to describe SEIU officer Balzano as “president of Allentown’s largest union.”
Fact: The audio makes it unmistakenly clear that Balzano was not “misspeaking” about his intent to file a grievance against the Boy Scout and against any other volunteer who dares pick up a hoe or shovel in Allentown.
Fact: The SEIU Purple Shirts have been caught with their brass knuckles showing. And it won’t be the last time.

Have to go with Pasadena Phil here. The reason I check in here every day instead of reading a paper or the Mudstream Media is I know the facts here are checked and rechecked. Michelle knows her stuff, rarely makes an error, and when she does she is the first to correct it.

About those 38 laid-off muni workers in Allentown:
The SEIU was awarded a gift contract that let them take a 7.9% pay increase this year, probably through Pennsylvania’s corrupt and flawed arbitration scheme. The local refused in spite of burgeoning deficits and falling fast revenues (10%+ unemployment, barely any housing sales) to give back any of their increase. The mayor, no friend of the taxpayer — he’s a Debtocrap who actually does come from Chicago — said, fine we’ll chop heads. And so, 38 walked, burned by their union. They were/are must-join-union employees so “Frankly, madam, we don’t give a damn.”
Meanwhile, in the real world, no one except local government gets those sorts of across the board pay increases.
Also, what doesn’t show beyond the headline 7.9% increase, are the sundry schemes that add about a percent per year of ’service’, or the sweetheart retirement donation (get a pension for only 3% of your own money) nor the golden health care packages. Yeah, Allentown still has defined benefit pensions and damn the costs to the taxpayers.

GPS
A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.
When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.
The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house.. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house.. It would
Appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.
Something to consider if you have a GPS – don’t put your home address in it. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen.
MOBILE PHONES
I never thought of this…….
This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet… Etc…was stolen.
20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says ‘I received your text asking about our Pin number and I’ve replied a little while ago.’
When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text ‘hubby’ in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.
Moral of the lesson:
Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.
Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad,
Mom, etc….
And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts,
CONFIRM by calling back.
Also, when you’re being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don’t reach them, be very careful about going places to meet ‘family and friends’ who text you.
And take the vinyl caricature figures of your family members off of the car window. The roster of your kids and dogs is personal info too.

I gather my information about current events from a variety of worldwide sources. The leftist attack dogs seldom provide relevant sources. They just attack. And, when challenged, are often caught in their unsubstantiated lies. At least the conservative writers tend to research and cite their information sources. This is a regular pattern and those of us who read MM and similar sources know where to go for the most accurate, researched information.

Wasn’t spam. I said it was from a business associate, and they didn’t encourage forwarding. Besides posting is a whole different thing than forwarding an e-mail. If one person that reads this board mentions this little advice to their daughter, especially the one about texting, then I’ll consider it worthwile to ignore posting police admonitions.

I am sure he would not have spoken for the SEIU if he did not have some leadership position. I just did a google search for Balzano and every news article, blog,…..everything refers to him as either the “President” of the local or as a “Union Official”. Unfortunatly, no listings about contracts signed, newspaper articles, etc., of the SEIU local prior to the boy scout incident mention Balzano by name. But it is fun looking for that all important nugget and I will continue doing so. In the meantime, considering how every mention of him by so many sources other than “the disreputable Fox News and other right-wing outlets like Michelle Malkin’s accuracy challenged blog.” has named him as a union leader, I will go with that unless the SEIU can prove otherwise. I can certainly recognize a desperate effort like demonizing FOX News and MM for what it a typical left wing tactic of saying something loudly and repeatedly in the hope it will be accepted as “fact”.
