Saturday in the Senate: Cash for Cloture; Reid gets 60; Update: 8:15pm Eastern cloture vote – 60-39; Voinovich absent; Dems invoke Teddy Kennedy; Reid: “Ted would be happy.”
Scroll for updates…8:15pm Eastern. Backroom Harry Reid wrapped up the hurry-up debate with a screen bashing Bush, likening GOP opposition to Demcare to supporting slavery, and then complaining about the need for “discussion” and “democracy” while assailing Republicans for taking their case to the American people. Final cloture vote 60-39. GOP Sen. Voinovich absent. Ghost of Teddy Kennedy presiding.

The bribes are working.
The Senate is steaming ahead toward tonight’s Saturday cloture vote on Demcare.
The “moderate” Democrats are falling like flies.
With her $100 million – $300 million special payoff in hand, Louisiana’s Sen. Mary Landrieu announced this afternoon that she’ll march behind Harry Reid.
@Christinakb dubs it “Cash for Cloture.”
Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln followed shortly after — which gives Dingy Harry his 60.
Via AP:
“The truth is this issue is very complex. There is no easy fix and it’s imperative that we build on what’s already working in health care in America,” Lincoln told her Senate colleagues.
Hours earlier, Landrieu had delivered her news. The two represent votes 59 and 60 for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who needs that many in the 100-member Senate to go forward. The Senate’s 40 Republicans are unanimously opposed.
“I’ve decided that there are enough significant reforms and safeguards in this bill to move forward, but much more work needs to be done,” Landrieu said, with the 8 p.m. EST vote looming.
Most everyone would be required to purchase insurance under Reid’s legislation, and billions in new taxes would be levied on insurers and high-income Americans to help extend coverage to 30 million uninsured. Insurance companies would no longer be allowed to deny coverage to people with medical conditions or drop coverage when someone gets sick.
A largely overlooked provision in the Senate bill would send $100 million to Louisiana to help it cover costs for Medicaid, the federal-state health care program for the poor. In her speech, Landrieu rejected the notion that she was voting to advance the bill simply because of the money.
“I am not going to be defensive about asking for help in this situation,” she said, recalling the devastation inflicted on her state by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and her Republican governor’s support for the provision. “I’m proud to have asked for it. I’m proud to have fought for it. And I will continue to.”
Both Landrieu and Lincoln vow to vote against the Demcare public option…later.

Update 8:15pm Eastern. Here’s the AP piece reporting the cloture vote tonight. It left out all the hysterical rhetoric of Harry Reid, but made sure to mention the invocation of Teddy Kennedy.
I’m watching Reid/Dodd presser right now. Reid mumbles that Ted Kennedy was watching over them tonight. Widow Vicky called him right after vote.
Harkin: “I can’t think of a better vote to have right before Thanksgiving.”
Baucus is not at the presser (left to be with sick mother).
Reid again talking about Kennedy: “Ted would be happy.”

I hate to be crude but all I can say is . . . “what a bunch of dirtbags”.
Enjoy your last year in office Harry.
Beck is starting the Revolution from the looks of it, and I can’t wait to get on the train.
I was in McLean, VA earlier this afternoon and have photos and video of Doctors protesting Obamacare up at my blog.
Politicians only care about themselves, not the constituents who vote for or against them, our Constitution, nor our country. I hope this changes in 2010 when many are voted out of office as they pass bills such as these.
They’re hoping no-one will notice their payoffs for votes. The sad part is that many Americans don’t care anyway.
If you really want to puke, read their statements. It is so hard to sell out your constituents while desperately grasping at straws of self-respect.
I predict that most of these mentally tortured “yes” votes on cloture will vote against the final bill when it only needs 50 votes to pass. Hypocrisy is corruption too.
I can’t wait for 2010. No incumbents. Democrat and Republican. They all must go. I’ve had it with Kabuki theater politics. The only way to know we’ve rooted out every crook is to vote them all out to the last weasel.
Pasadena Phil – I was in line at the post office last week. The gentleman in front of me was from Russia and we were talking politics. He does not like what is going on in this country right now. He said this was the reason he left Russia.
Keep in mind that the line was out the door and I said loud enough for everyone to hear that come 2010 if they were in office now I was voting against them – I did not care if they were Republican or Democrat. Everyone in that line, young and old, Black and White, agreed with me.
I really do believe that there is change coming for these crooks and it is not what they are going to like.
That is what I am seeing everywhere myself. Even those who first state that they can’t wait until Republicans get back in are easily persuaded that it’s about incumbents, not party. It’s time to test the old William F. Buckley claim that we would be better governed by picking people at random out of the NYC phone book than what we have. Throw them all out. If this is the best that all of that “experience” can get us, let’s try electing inexperienced but honest idiots.
Would someone please wake me from this national nightmare? I cannot believe what this country is becoming. It’s time to be governed by the first 100 names in the phone book (or however that famous quote goes).
I won’t stop fighting, but damn, is it tiring…
I totally agree with you, Lindsay. I wonder how many of the undereducated voters will do the same, or just vote for the politico with the better handout? The only reason many of these people are in office right now is the the social welfare state put in place by the likes of FDR and LBJ, both Dems who knew how to buy votes to keep their power.
I’ve always been a skeptic about humans because I’ve just seen some dishonest shenanigans in my own family, politics, and larger society. This gimme gimme gimme mentality is a contagion that needs to be stamped out and eradicated. If we cannot fix this mentality, it will continue to feed the corruption that continues to exist in DC.
I’m 34 years old and I’m fed up with both parties. I’m an independent but my vote isn’t for sale like it is with many constituencies. Time to get rid of the old welfare state programs like Social Security, Welfare, and Medicare/Medicaid and rise to a new, modern standard of responsibility.
I have hope, if only a small hope. This country is circling the drain and I don’t know if anything can stop it. People are bent on self-destruction and it’s very hard to reverse such a propensity. It’s sad.
On Monday, I will tell my employees that I have decided to close my business because it has become too difficult to succeed in the United States.
I began this business over 40 years ago, and triumphed over all types of competitors. I cannot and will not support the tyranny that is coming out of Washington. I will spend my remaining years and efforts in defeating every liberal Democrat and those Republicans who put us in this position.
I am, of course, troubled about the future of my long term employees, but they should understand that actions have consequences – and the actions of Congress have severe consequences. I am hoping that they will join my efforts to defeat the left, but that is up to them.
ALL THOSE INDEPENDENT VOTERS WHO DECIDED DEMOCRATS WEREN’T THE SAME OLD TAX AND SPEND SOCIALISTS OF OLD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I HOPE THE DISEASE YOU HAVE IS THE ONE CUT FROM THE ROLES OF COVERED PROCEEDURES.
Democrat leftist scum! May you all be damned for destroying America! America, the last great hope for mankind!
PW9999 – If you really do shutter your busines on Monday, I hope you point out to all the IDIOTS who voted for ODUMBOBAMA that THIS is the result!
To hell with Democrat leftist scum! Eat dirt off the floor for all I care! I hope you leftist scum all STARVE!
Will the fate of Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky be revisited?
You and all the other traitor scumbags can march right into hell for all I care. How does it feel to be bought like a whore??
I hope Beck advances a national tax strike against Obamacare. I openly put my name in front of the line.

Many years ago, my Dad was invited to run for the state assembly (Vermont), but turned it down. He told me he “didn’t want to sacrifice his morals and ethics”. I didn’t understand that then, but I do today. Seems these days, to be in office, one must go with the corrupt or find himself out of the loop.
I am not surprised in the least. These PUKES in the house and congress don’t give a damned what the public wants.
Tared and feathered is too good for this bunch.
oops should have been senate.
“The word ‘politics’ is derived from the word ‘poly’, meaning ‘many’, and the word ‘ticks’, meaning ‘blood sucking parasites’.” – Larry Hardiman
Americans are vastly opposed to this takeover, but Dirty Harry and the Dems don’t care. Blanche Lincoln and Mary Landrieu are facing almost certain defeat at the polls next year, but they don’t care. It used to be said that the Senate was a deliberative body, but they don’t care to deliberate, they prefer to ruin the country for some socialist agenda instead. As Rush would say, the age of American exceptionalism is just about over if this becomes law, and now that appears all but certain. Oh, Dirty Harry will get Landrieu and Lincoln to vote for cloture on the actual bill, and they’ll probably vote against final passage, but by then Harry will only need 51 votes because he’ll invoke the nuclear option. You know, the rape of Senate rules that will allow a vote on a “budget” spending bill by a simple majority intead of 60 votes, the trick Republicans could never pull off when they had judges languishing under Democratic fillibusters, courtesy of Teddy Kennedy. Then the bill again goes to the closed-door, House-Senate conference committee. And when it comes back to the Senate? It’ll have abortion fundiung, public option and coverge of illegals in it, guaranteed. And it will again be voted upon using the nuclear option — simply majority, 51 socialist votes. What has our country become?
“An honest politician is one who, when he is bought, will stay bought.”
- Simon Cameron
That’s what I don’t understand, even though it’s a common thought. That assumes all men/women are weak and have their price.
When it looked like Hoffman was winning in NY-23 I started to wonder if once in DC he would become corrupted (since I believed he would’ve started ‘clean’.) Maybe he still will win ‘sooner’ or later.
I do believe there are people who won’t cave.
We must ‘vet’ our 2010 candidates.
Unless the majority of the voters in the state can be ‘bought off’ also. Gimme Gimme
“voters in the state can be ‘bought off’ also.”
We need to count on them being buyable. Why do conservatives insist on not meeting people where they are and by using what they have given us in terms of their values.
The selling point of conservativism is precisely that people get more of what they want for themselves. Does that not sound like a selfish motivation? Of course it is.
We need to start teaching people the way they get more is NOT by liberalism but by conservativism. At the end of the day liberalism reduces lifestyle for all people. Conservativism elevates it for all people.
Go with the values that have been telegraphed and show people how conservative ideals get them what they value better than liberalism.
This is all ultimately because of the evil one, obama. The vile, evil Communist from Africa who sometime in his sorry, pathetic life got a rat up his butt against America. I wonder what it was? Did someone call him a bad name once in the school cafeteria? And ever since that day, he swore that one day he would bring America to it’s knees?
Something like that happened.
97% of the bills that get past this point pass.
Does anyone know if a bill to reappeal this leviathan could be done before it’s implementation?
Obama is not bringing America to its knees. America is not Obama.
And Obama is the front end for a very well funded and powerful backend. Soros and his buds pulled this off. Obama being black was not by chance. Carefully selected and the nomination given to him because of the likelihood he would get elected over Hilary.
Make no mistake about it. The left is not going to go away easily. We have plenty of work to do to restore our country to the people.
“The bribes are working.”
And when Republican senators did and do the same thing its hard to fault the democrats. Republicans STILL doing it!
Trent Lott one of the best at it.
I guess I’ve become cynical. I really want to believe that’s true, but with the current state of the GOP and Congress, I’m struggling with it.
The question I have for all the d’s in the house and senate, do any of you have children or g-kids? If so, have you seen to it you can give those kids or g-kids what you are not wanting to give the taxpaying citizens? Have you gotten enough graft to crater our Republic to do this? I hope when I stand before my God you are there to tell your side of what you did.
All I can do now is ask God to please bless this wonderful nation You created.

We are living through the perfect storm: An elected body that fails to listen to it’s constituents. An economy in the toilet. The dollar is falling by the minute against other world currencies. Our banks and what’s left of our manufacturing base are under the umbrella of the govn’t – with more to follow I’m sure.
What else could go wrong? I’m not sure, but we must plan and set aside monies and/or means to take care of ourselves and those we love. Outside of secession I can’t see an answer.
*I don’t mind saying it; Landrieu and Lincoln are no better than D.C. whores, selling out the citizens of their own states by letting Harry Reid have his way with them; They are both cheap and easy!; They both know that cloture means a bill will be on P-BOs’ desk by year end.
*But the people know full well that the mandates are unconstitutional and the additional spending will speed the country into bankrupcy; I predict China will intervene behind closed doors to stop this insanity.
letget – That is not all you can do, but it is certainly the most important thing you can do!
Lincoln made it pretty clear that wasn’t an option, and that was before the military was a strong as it is now.
We’re lost. We can’t even leave because there’s nowhere left in the world where the state doesn’t simply view the citizens as slaves.
We were so freaking intent on spreading democracy that we lost our Republic.
Living in Arkansas I certainly wasn’t surprised at Blanche Lincoln’s “yes” vote. She voted for shamnesty…and her and Pryor can be counted on to do the wrong thing.
I tried to call her office all day yesterday and most of today….always got a busy signal. Bet they just left the phones off the hook.
The “Blue Dog” thing is a sham to get them elected in a conservative state.
Works every time.
If the GOP members had a spine they would simply walk off the Senate floor shouting one word..
UNCONSTITUTIONAL….
but alas they have to save face and vote against it rather than let the dimocraps own it lock stock and barrel….don’t vote except with your feet…just make the statement that you are actually for the Constitution and We The People rather than corrupt business as usual….
845530,
I have no price. I have a backbone.
And I am not afraid to use it.
I decided to run for office and filed this past July 7, and hope to unseat our incumbent Barbara Mikulski precisely because of these types of events.
I am sick of incumbency and the corruption they seem to love.
Call me crazy, but I’ve been to a few Tea Parties and a Town Hall – because they refuse to listen to us – my answer is:
I want your job, and you out of it.

Middleton is correct, of course. It’s more than just the Evil One. Soros and his associates orchestrated this from the beginning. It was brilliant. Choose a light-skinned black man to appeal to idiot liberal whites and who can deflect virtually all criticism by crying “race” and you have the perfect instrument to destroy a nation.
It’s diabolical. Timid, liberal whites afraid of being labeled racist actually voted for this shallow, empty-suited communist provacateur. And now they have 60 Senate seats and there is nothing we can do to stop them.
If Minnesotans hadn’t voted for the freak al franken. That’s 59. It’s the vile arlen specter hadn’t switched. That’s 58.
Thanks John McCain for refusing to delve into jeremiah wright during the campaign. Thanks for calling the Evil One a “good man” and rolling over like the weakling you are. Thanks for “suspending” your campaign to go back to Washington, you sorry f&#k!
My Grandfather never fought in the war, but he spent the entire war time working in a factory building tanks. I have a copy of his draft notice that he finally received dated August 13, 1945. Japan surrendered two days later and his notice was recalled. (God Bless Harry S) I’m sorry that my generation let the country slip away.
I would bet money it was Frank Marshall Davis who most molded what ObowMao is today.
As for this vote, why has nobody in any state yet mentioned starting a recall petition for those voting for this abomination?
They are on the record now, no matter what BS excuses they offer for voting for it, they have chosen not to listen to their constituents.
START THE RECALLS!
Without starting them now, they will not get the message when Dingy Harry is handing out his 51 bribes for final passage.
And if they doe lose their seats Dingy Harry or the Obaminites will find them nice thank you jobs in some Non Governmental Agency. Tom Dashel ring a bell? Let’s just hope they pay their taxes.
Some whores are more expensive than others. Loading .308 this week end.
Both women and all the other 60 are no more than traitors to the American public, the exact people that pay their wages, provide expensive perks and just happen to be their boss.
We have to take our country back next year, in 2012 vote out the rest, clean house top to bottom…every dept. every bureaucratic office in the government.
By the way, I bet that Lincoln votes for the bill no matter changes or not, she’s a qualified democrap, a liar.
I wonder how Mary Jo would feel.
There’s no need to say it is a 100-300 million dollar payoff. According to her own statement, she proudly says:
“It is not a $100 million fix, it is a nearly $300 million fix.”
(It makes you wonder if her use of the word “fix” is code for “the fix is in”.)
These politicians, like Mary Landrieu, are not only willing but proud to sell their votes. And their constituents are just as willing to see them do it. How much longer will our republic last?

*When Teddy’s happy, everyone else needs Preparation H!
*The Tea Party Nation needs to move on to Plan B; Phone calls, protests, and Town Hall visits seem to have little effect; It’s time to starve the beast, and better that we do it than China; Time to slow the revenue stream to a trickle over the next few months; They WILL get that message.
I am however, feeling ill. Thank goodness, I’m not in gov’t care yet.
First, even if this happened, can Obamacare be repealed or we’re still forced to “pay insurance” in the face of a gun?
Second, this emboldens the movement for Free Housing on Obama’s next term. Trust me, it’s been long waiting on the “black leader” agenda.

Governance by the lowest common denominator. Reid, Pelosi, Obowma, nuff said.
None of the three are fit to sit on a local school board…..yet they find themselves in a position to strip out the greatness of America.
That’s strange: most prostitutes have at least a little shame.
I guess it’s good I don’t own a home??
I’m thinking selling everything off and moving to some deserted island??…this isn’t representative government, it’s nothing more than a marxist/communist regime a la chavez/castro…all this is for show that they are being deliberative when in fact the back door deals, graft, and bribery are what really is at hand…we are nothing more than a banana republic on a larger scale…thanks all you “zero liability voters” you have killed America and replaced it with the USSA…don’t forget at some point that handout you get will be taken by that needy illegal immigrant….enjoy it while you can you brain dead obamabots!!!! Oh that small business you might work for…well they’ll be laying off a bunch of people, it’ll be cheaper to pay the fines than pay for your health care…enjoy the 2-3 month wait for a routine appointment as doctors quit and don’t forget to brush up on your foreign languages, your new provider might not speaky English…
oh the Senate is now in recess until November 30th at 2:00pm…start hitting your lame a$$ Senators offices during the break…oh and the comodian closed the Senate session…what a bunch of clowns we’ve elected!!!
Bob, your quite right, i was so pissed I did not think it through.
Not sure about a “repeal” but once we take back the country we have to do everything we can bury this socialist crap and make sure it never rises it’s ugly head again. Start enforcing the laws, stop molding them to suit politics. I heard Mark Levin, a constitutional scholar say it can be repealed. but highly unlikely to change a program once started, in fact he couldn’t think of one.
Paying for this crap starts next year, health care goes into effect 2013…figure that one out.
$300 Million for pig Landreau, and bankruptcy for our Country now, and financial ruin for future generations. Goodbye America; it was nice knowin’ ya. Ill just be hanging out on my front porch with a beer, clinging to my guns and my religion. It’s all that we middle America “neanderthals” have left.
Being part of America’s worst generation couldn’t feel worse. Our children and grandchildren will rightfully despise us. The only reason I can look at myself in the mirror is that, as a proud conservative, I had nothing to do with putting these marxist traitors in power. God help this Country.
Sen. Mary Landrieu has always been a political whore. Now we know her price.

I am sad and mad…
Amazingly Terrifying that the Obama has accomplished this in ONE year — and we’ve three/seven(?) to go!
Of course “Free Housing” is really much more than that; throw in the free water and electricity and appliances, do the math. And there’s a massive constituency eager to get that show rolling!

I’ve seen some discussion on a couple of boards about trying to do a class action law suit against congress as they are NOT listening to the majority of We The People…Judicial Watch has been contacted…is it possible to do this? We should all contact Judicial Watch and see if they can start action…If it is possible we might want to help fund it…what a hoot that would be for We The People to sue our employees for wrongful and unconstitutional actions on their part…I like it….
Nausea. I can only hope these Democrats lose in the next election, as they drive our economy down the drain with this bill for illegal aliens. May they get what they deserve on the backs of American taxpayers.
I seriously doubt that a lawsuit can be brought. Lawmakers have a general and wide reaching immunity from those types of suits. That is what the ballot box and recalls are for. I believe that’s the only recourse.
Off topic, but not..maybe, just maybe our Republicans in congress are starting to hear us.
A month ago I sent a thanks but no thanks to a solicitation form from National Republican Congressional Committee. I told them no money after the bs they pulled in N.Y. 23rd dist. along with all the other RINO moves they’ve made in recent years.
Well, two days ago I received a letter from the NRCC Chairman Pete Session. Now I know you can’t hardly trust any politician anymore, but he gave me “hope”, my kind of real hope in this letter. The 1st three paragraphs he explained how they knew we are pissed and disappointed and working to regain our faith in them. The last paragraph is what gave me hope they are hearing us and hope we can retake our country while cooperating with the Republicans. Here is the last paragraph that should give us all “Hope” for the future.
“I challenge you to watch our actions over the next several months. As you know, action speaks louder than words. As we act in accordance to your expectations, I hope we can count on your renewed support at that time…”.
I didn’t get my check book out and starting writing them a check, I was taken with the sound of honesty in the letter, admitting they had screwed up and they know they will have to work to get our support back. It may very well bs, no more than typical political statement, but it’s a lot more than I’ve ever received from the impotent RNC. Lord knows we need help from somewhere.
Enjoy it while you can. Second amendment rights do not apply to felons. Those who refuse to bow down to Harrycare can be charged with a felony. Do the math…
I posted this on another thread, but it seems appropriate here…May God have mercy on everyone who takes part in this treasonous takeover of our country. History will record their names. They won’t go unpunished.
I am sick to my stomach. Congress is out of control and cannot be reined in except to be voted out. This healthcare bill will be our Stamp Act.
What a dirty trick. It should be illegal.
They bribe a Senator with my money to get them to vote for something I don’t want!!!!
18 states allow Senators to be recalled: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin. Start your recall petitions now.
… and most of America is STILL comatose. I can’t take this anymore.
How is this NOT illegal, that’s my question.
Elections have consequences.
Sixty Democrats elected to the Senate
EQUALED EXACTLY
sixty Democrat votes to hijack and destroy the best medical care system in the world.
Voting for Democrats has consequences.
Landrieu, aka, “The Whore From Lousiana,” is a traitorous piece of scum!
Ted Kennedy happy? I don’t think so. He is in hell right now, burning.
Right now, Ted Kennedy would give ANYthing to jump into a lake full of water!
Burn, Kennedy, burn!
ThunderHawkk is not happy today.
With a majority of votes, freedom goes out the window. 60 votes trumps the will of the people every time.
Oh I was just trying to think happy thoughts like going some place remote like Arizona where you can harm no one and practice shooting outdoors… and enjoy the fresh air and unlimited blue sky…for that reason alone is why I’ve enjoyed rifle shooting since age 13 when the Boy Scouts taught me how to shoot .22s…it just always relaxed me.
I still have a few more weeks until I’m done with my BS in Economics at UW-Seattle, and I’d like to get some duck hunting doen near Othello, WA. on the 28th of Dec.
But believe me I understand what you guys are saying…
Read the Declaration of Independence, people:
In fact, read a little farther and substitute Osama Obama and Harry “the traitor” Reid for “he”:
It’s time to heed the words of the Founders.
It is not only not illegal, it is the way representative legislative government is done: Swapping political favors on behalf of your constituents.
If issue (A) is not really important to your constituents one way or the other, and issue (B) is really important, then you go along with issue (A) in order to trade for votes on issue (B).
If you don’t like the way your representatives in Congress make trades, then you vote them out.
Nope. What we have is freedom. It is not the fault of our system that the voters are so bloody stupid they elect people who represent them poorly.
Indeed. It is time we elect representatives who will impeach Obama and remove him from office.
Of course to actually get a Senate that might do that will take at least another few years, and by that time we can just vote to remove him.
However, we get back to the original problem: The voters are not worthy of freedom. Today’s average voter is the kind of worthless, dumbass twit who will trade her freedom to a conniving liar for a kind word.
Lets just hope it’s not too late to salvage what’s left of our country before we can get these [expletives] out of there.
Very true. They will first have to actually suffer before they figure out where they went wrong.
That’s all well and good, but in this instance the “average voter” gets to pull the rest of us down with them, thanks to the traitors in D.C.
The same might have been said in Colonial times, as the Revolution was begun by a relative handful of patriots.
Also, very true, Mr. Scribbler. As I recall, it was Samuel Adams who remarked that 10% of colonists were for the British and 10% were against the British with the remainder of the colonists non-aligned such that they would go with whichever side was winning during the American Revolution…
“Ted would be happy”
Yeah, because it’s
Saturdaya day that ends in “y” and he’d be so trashed he wouldn’t know the time of day.Sorry, had to stop and correct myself.
Teddy is dead, and that’s exactly where this socialist healthcare manifesto belongs . . . dead.
That in of itself spells corruption.
Today’s Democrat Senators are modern day sacrificial lambs. Matters not if their re-election bids are on the line, just so long as a tool is installed to rule over the people and further bloat government.
Is that the same Teddy Kennedy the father of Patrick Kennedy who says RI bishop banned him from Communion?

Whining and moaning, but no action from conservitives, no surprise, and those of you hoping for 2010 to change crap, don’t count on it.
One they are polititions, two redrawn voting districts will see to it liberal majority area’s will continue to have say, three Obama, As long as he’s in office even IF half the senate (which is not up for grabs) changes hands he still has power of Veto to ensure his legislation currently passed or in next year stays. Once 2012 is here everyone will be used to it enough to just go “meh” to conservitives.
After all leftist have been protesting for YEARS over Iraq with no results, and its not as the war is popular that they have failed. What made us think our tea parties would be different?
And lastly too many are depended on the goverment, from those who are in favor of it, to those on this site that is oppossed to it. You will never be more than an annoyance as you dare not fight.
i’ve lost faith in America, in the Republic, and in the People. May god be merciful, or may the Chinese, the system never changes. And now I weep the passing of America.
Before anyone states it I’m aware its not on the presidents desk, but if bribes can get it on the table, why not passed also?
Now that said it all!
The way things are going, the Republicans and Democrats are going to be forcing us to call these things “incentives” instead of bribes before long.

I’m not trying to dump more cold water on folks’ enthusiasm, but I’ve been saying this for years. Rush and Hugh Hewitt always go on about the “American people” not accepting this or that from the Left. “Middle America” is “waking up” etc., etc. Yet, to date, I have not been wrong once about the march of the Left. The “average” American is asleep or in the grip of an Oprah-induced coma.
The reason the Left continues on is because the gains of the conservative viewpoint are always superficial since we’ve let the liberal control all the levers of cultural change: academia/education (including K-12), the Arts, the public media and even Washington culture. Speaking of Washington culture, you ever notice that the political entropy of that place works such that you have to fight to be and stay conservative but you never have to fight to stay liberal?
It’s the inevitable result when even conservatives hand over their children to the government schools (they need “socialization” don’t ya know?), send their kids to ultra-liberal colleges, and let their families soak in hours of media and news that all militate against their beliefs. What else would you expect to happen?
The Tea Parties were just a tickle and a passing interest. If we really want to make a difference, we have to make the Tea Party attendance look like insignificant by regularly conducting, traffic-stopping, unmistakably huge gatherings. We have to completely STOP patronizing places that support the left (like Pepsi and Google) and we have to make a sustained effort to educate our families about the founding documents of this country and WHY they speak as they do. This needs to happen continuously from now through election time as we speak out as if the future of this country is at stake–because it IS.
Oh and put a stake through the heart of choosing “electable” candidates. You MAKE someone electable by your support. Dn’t believe me? Just ask yourself who had even heard of Obama 5 years ago. Choose principled people over old-standbys and “known” Washington faces.
Dittos to Major O.
The attention span of conservatives is NIL. Yeah the tea parties were cool and so was the big march, but no one has the gumption for a sustained massive protest and no one has the guts to revolt. Conservative leadership is busy enriching themselves playing the game, but I hate to tell ya, books, tea parties, blogs, and Fox News is not going to be enough to change anything.
While the left has had a slow methodical plan to forward its agenda over the past fifty years, Conservatives have spent those same five decades whining, complaining, exposing hypocrisy, and playing by “the rules.” No planning, no commitment, no long term strategy, no nothing. That’s what gave use Compassionate Conservatism, and sissy weenies like Trent Lot, Bob Dole, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, etc, etc.
This is our own fault. Meanwhile Conservative “leadership” gets rich off the backs of Conservative fools who think that there is a Conservative politician who will actually do something to take our country back.
We need a revolution to install a Constitutional government in the USA. We need millions of people to band together to get the job done. Will it ever happen? Of course not.
I agree. I think they should really make Ted happy by killing the bill and burying it with him. And if the devil has any sense of humor, he will make Ted read the bill all the way from beginning to end, or until the end of eternity, whichever comes first.
The original Louisiana Purchase cost $15 Million and gave America all of the land drained by the Mississippi River. This Louisiana Purchase will cost us $300 Million in funds for Louisiana, 1/6th of our economy, all of our health care, and put us on the road to Communism.
This Louisiana Purchase is a bad deal and Mary Landrieu (along with everyone else that voted for cloture) should be tarred and feathered.
