Adam Lambert at the AMAs: Bottom of the barrel

I don’t care about Adam Lambert’s sexuality. What he did at the American Music Awards was just gross. More to the point: It was certainly not “music” or “entertainment.” It sounded like kittens being boiled in hot oil while a kindergarten class pounded on ’80s synthesizers and a Rock Band drum set.
Egad, this is desperation draped in glitter drenched in liquid eyeliner smothered in hairspray and cinched with a spiked collar:
Lambert preemptively hyped this abomination as “sexy.”

Rolling Stone called it “shocking” and “racy.”

Er, no. Try ear-splitting, migraine-inducing, banal, and bottom of the barrel.
Hollyweird strikes again.

No wonder the American Idol producers loved him and Americans did not.
I watched the Lakers game – couldn’t care less about the bottom-feeder “music” “awards”!!
What a poor excuse of a “performance.” This guy is no singer, then again, what qualifies as “talent” usually has the lifespan of a second in what represents popular music or “pop” these days. This performance is yet another reason why Adamn Lambert should not have won American Idol to begin with. At least David Cooke has some class. This guy? Not so much.
That Jordan to Shannon for the dunk was insane, Shannon really needs to be in this years slam dunk contest.
There was some sort of music show on?
I just saw this posted online (hasn’t aired yet in the PST).
I’m not sure what appalled me more, the disgusting and craven attempt at controversy or the horrible vocal performance.
YouTube has removed the video due to a “terms of use violation.” I was spared the torture. It’s just my lucky day, I guess.
Wheeeeee, further perpetuation of the stereotype that you cant be homosexual without being compelled to make a spectacle of yourself in the public eye.
Hurrah!
BTW, if anybody feels compelled to watch said spectacle, the YouTube link posted on the Rolling Stone article still works (as of ~10:50PM PST)
Welp, I’m certainly worse off for having endured that.
Ya. Pretty typical Gay-oriented Hollywood crap:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJqjf_T-GQk
I refuse to watch self-congratulatory shows from modern day Babylon.
Well, I guess it isn’t surprising to see y’all engaging in a round of queer stomping.
Sickening, but not surprising.
Many years ago award shows were entertaining and classy, even the Oscars. These days I haven’t watched any award shows in years. They don’t mean a thing to me now; too full of sex, politics and “mutual admiration”. Besides, award shows are a “dime a dozen”.
I guess he’ll probably run for public office now…
Looks like the video is gone, which, probably is for the best if the still shots depict what they appear to.
I really don’t care about anyone’s homosexuality (or hetero for that matter), I just don’t want it thrown in my face.
The still on the video showing a guy in straps and someone crawling on the floor tells me more than enough. I won’t bother with the actual video.
I went to bed before that that little gem of depravity came on, but I was already disappointed when I saw Carrie Underwood’s performance. She is way too talented and beautiful to turn her act into a quasi-striptease/burlesque show. And Whitney Houston’s ode to oh how strong she is and how she is back on her throne now — she even has the white light and backup choir to prove it, forget the fact that her voice is basically shot from years of drug abuse. It’s just all very, very sad.
I was going to watch the AMAs but the Cowboy Channel was running a Red Ryder Marathon so I missed them again.
Throw another fagot on the fire-it’s cold in here.
Actually SixDegrees, the performance bashes itself.
But your righteous indignation is noted. Not important, but noted.
Note to self: decline invitation to dinner at Malkin home.
Why watch the AMA’s when you can watch perfection like this:
Oops link
I missed this, as I do miss most TV; which is crap anyhow. It has long been in the pooper. Regardless, I suppose condemning public gay sex acts is the new hate speech. Thank you, our open-minded and tolerant Democratic party; behold what your one-dimensional view has wrought upon the rest of us.
awww poor baby
The so-called awards show was so incredibly bad that it seemed good that Taylor Swift, who can’t sing, won entertainer of the year.
Taylor has class, most of what I saw on the show had no class…or talent.
On another site the AMA’s are discussed and many of the acts were equally, if not more, shocking. Such is life.
Interesting…when I watched American Idol, I thought Adam had talent. And I guess he does, in a sick sort of way. Watching that video made me think of numerous images from the Bible…Sodom and Gomorrah for one. Worshiping the golden calf for another. The day of reckoning is coming and I have only pity for these degenerates.
Seems to me that the “queer stomping” was done on stage by Adam Lambert. When people act this badly, how can you blame normal, decent people for criticizing? Gays need to keep their sexual practices in the privacy of their own homes, not on stage and TV, not in parades down main street in San Francisco, just keep it private for God’s sake!! They are flaunting this and then expect us to remain silent. Just keep your private acts private…geez! How hard is that to understand? Satan is alive and well in the entertainment industry, and we are supposed to just smile tolerently and try to shield our children from the worst of it. Disgusting…filthy and terminally evil. By the way, MOST gays understand this and are decent people. I’m talking about the flaming liberal gays who think we all should love their lifestyles no matter how ugly and disgusting they act in public. They don’t realize that they are setting the gay agenda back by turning most people off. They even turn off other gays who just want to be left alone to live their lives.
I turned it on only long enough to see Janet Jackson grab her crotch a few times, and turned it off in disgust. (Do tell, Janet: Was that er, lousy, performance an homage to M.J., or are you just suffering the crabs?) That that incident didn’t even make the outrage radar shows how low we have sunk.
Lambert is a very talented singer. It’s too bad he’s decided that a career as a gay porn star is the way to go.
Nice….but it’s not The Charlie Daniels Band.
An exceedingly visceral depiction emanating from Michelle’s venerable capacity for superlative elocution.
I’d call it a steaming pile of horse s#&t. Probably why I’ll never be a syndicated columnist.
It is what you have to resort to when you have no real talent; kind of like any idiot can get a laugh from a dirty joke.
Now try and be a Tim Conway or Abott and Costello……
Lambert is a “wanna be.”
Kind of “on topic”: A guy friend of mine (we’re both straight, and yes it’s pertinent to my little story) went to a Pet Shop Boys concert in Minneapolis a while ago and I’ll be danged if WE weren’t the most flamboyantly dressed (I tend to wear Hawaiian shirts a lot). So, my point is…gay doesn’t HAVE to equal flamboyant. I say let the talent stand on its own.
I am so very proud to say that I have no idea who this “guy” is, nor what the AMA’s are.
And I plan to keep it that way.
Think I’ll just sit back and wait to see if his marketing scheme works.
Heh. Like my music teachers at Berklee used to say, there’s only two kinds of music, good and bad.
zzzzzzz… nothing to see here… don’t even bother with the vid clip… please move along…
c’mon ‘chelle… what’s up… this isn’t blogworthy or snortworthy… who cares?
When I become the queen of the world, one of the first things that will go will be the vile Folsom Street Fair.
I disagree. We need to stay aware of the sleaziness out there. We need to know what we are trying to fight, and what we need to protect our children from. Did you want to ignore it in hopes it goes away? Not going to happen.
I wish Hollywood producers would notice that “pushing the envelope” is passe’ and “thinking outside the box” IS the box. Most of the stuff coming out of unHolywood bores me.
What are we supposed to do? Cheer?
Here’s a newsflash: the gay movement went from being the love that dare not speak its name to the love that just won’t shut up.
I don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms. That’s between them and God.
But I do care when they start attacking my First Amendment rights, the fundamental family unit, and the basic freedoms of all individuals to find such sexually explicit behavior – gay or straight – distasteful and offensive.
This sort of stuff is thrown in our faces again and again and again and we’re not only supposed to tolerate it, we’re supposed to celebrate it, lest we be labeled homophobes or prudes.
I don’t think so.
If you don’t want people commenting on your sexuality, then don’t bring your bedroom onto the public stage.
It’s tragically hilarious. This guy thinks so little of his own singing talent that he has to make a spectacle of himself like that just to get bad publicity. Will it sell records or concert tickets? Maybe one or two. Sad thing is, his agent probably told him this joke of a performance would make him rival Elvis. Apparently he was stupid enough to buy into that nonsense.
You know ABC/DISNEY was really happy to have this on their network last night. Between this performance and the Desperate Housewives Commercial, brought to you by Sprint, could ABC/DISNEY turn their theme parks into Sado-masochist dens of horror?
It’s a small world after all…….
Well said!!! Excellent post!
Comment of the week…and it’s only Monday!!

I’ve known some “gay” people–of both sexes. Most kept their “business” private–like most “straight” people do. What goes on in private between adults is nobody else’s concern.
***
But vile “in your face” stuff offends normal people–and does not advance tolerance for these lifestyles–gay or straight. Watch the videos of FRISCO’S FOLSOM STREET FAIR or degrading PORNOGRAPHY for details–you will come away feeling dirty if you are a normal person. And if you like this C**P you are a pervert. Presenting this stuff as “normal” corrupts children–and that is the agenda.

Frankly, American pop music is something Islam can justly condemn. Adam Lambert’d have about an hour’s life expectancy in Tehran.

So, only a gay-bashing homophobe would have been offended by that “performance”?
There are no gays and/or people who support gay rights who have a problem with public simulated sex (gay, hetero, whatever) when what they thought they were going to get was a music awards show?
OK I watched this. Honestly, it was a really weak performance. The producers must have had an agenda, and he was the willing participant. They saved him for last so they would have eyeballs for their commercials during the program, but basically it was laughable – no cutting-edge talent, just stupid really.
Actually – out here in our time zone it may have been edited…
This is 2009 American culture. It is what today’s Obama-loving America is all about. When America goes down in flames, it will done to the ear-torture of nobodies like Adam Lambert droning on and on about hedonistic perversion.
Entertainers used to care about their reputation and being respected by being respectable (not all, but most did, and even if they did bad, they hoped to keep it under-wraps). Nowadays, they don’t care if people know what sort of degenerates that they are, and they even RECEIVE kudos when they let it be known what sort of destructive behavior that they engage in.
If Al Qaeda were to destroy Hollywood in an act of terrorism, they’d do America a HUGE favor. It would also (ironically) cause our village idiot “entertainers” to hysterically call for military action against them.
Entertainers used to care about their reputation and being respected by being respectable
————————————–
They still do; the only problem is, in order to get a “good reputation” on their planet these days, you have to be the opposite of what most of us can “respect”. It is a sad thing.
I did not watch the AMA’s because I knew some act of stupidity would take place. I see I wasn’t wrong. Was there plenty of Obama love too?
I predict he will implode on himself in about 5 yrs. He will be buried in perversion (yes, even more) & drugs – probably along the lines of Boy George.
That was a gross performance & several of the comments on the Rolling Stone site seemed to state that it was over the top & pretty bad.
He states in the article that if it’s cut it will amount to discrimination – what a freaking joke. Just because ABC may think it’s not right to have you shoving guys heads into your crouch it’s not discrimination.
Grow up little gay boy.
Oh no, queer stomping is not good- it gets all over your shoes. I do not advocate or have any interest in doingb harm to anyone except in self defense. I don’t hate homosexuals, I pity them.
I mirror the sentiments above. We have a right to be extremely offended by these sick perversions. That is not “gay bashing”, it is common decency. These people need to grow up and realize they are ruining things for every gay person out there who wants to live his life in peace and not be looked at in disgust. That performance was pornography.
We don’t watch that crap. My son was watching a football game, I was catching up with the news online, and my daughter was reading a book. My youngest son was on a date with his girlfriend.
No. It’s his blatant sexual molestation of two people, one female and one male, that I’m stomping. I hope they file charges. Or better yet, I hope they sue his sorry butt in civil court. The money he earns from his record sales can go to cover his legal fees and the pay the jury verdict to the plaintiffs.
Next?
Anyone who followed Adam Lambert on “American Idol” knows his singing voice is far better than what was on display last night. (Must have been the acoustics.) Of course, this doesn’t excuse the production number.
Thus, your moniker.
How upset would we be if Osama eliminated Hollywood? Isn’t this one of the religion of peace’s arguments that we have a perverted, anti-religious society? Therefore, much of the hatred directed at us is because of Hollywood.
Adam who?
I don’t watch any award shows. What did he do? Act like Madonna? Oh, now THAT’s scary in itself. He can’t even be original.
Hey Rogue Cheddar,
Thanks alot for posting that link to Lucia Micarelli and allowing me to discover her…….WOW>>>WOW>>>WOW
I should spend more time listening to music rather than bloging. I listened to her youtube videos for an hour after seeing the one you posted. I’m going out today to buy her CD. She’s an amazing musician.
Sure, the fact Adam Lambert is gay has nothing to do with this outburst Michelle. Seriously, you’re not fooling anyone. Straight performers do this ALL THE TIME. Literally ALL THE TIME. And they don’t get their own vile MM.com articles. Please, Adam Lambert got more votes in American Idol than John McCain did in the presidential election. His album is selling very well; he is popular, I’m afraid. Young people really don’t care one iota about the sexuality of anyone, especially not musicians. When your children are teenagers, and they meet other teenagers from outside whatever church group you coerce them into attending, do you really think they’ll think on homosexuality as something disgusting and inferior to heterosexuality? Of course they won’t. The music industry is tasteless and crass and sex sells. It’s always been this way, the only difference is that there are gay artists now. Get used to it.
OMU, you obviously haven’t read the posts here by people, myself included, who “don’t care one iota” about Adam Lambert’s sexuality; what they care about is his on-stage antics. You say if someone was offended by this, they should be offended by graphic simulations of hetero sex? I am.
“Sex sells”? True perhaps, but an artist with talent – which I understand Adam Lambert is – shouldn’t have to resort to that. Susan Boyle may have been given a bit of a makeover, but she is not nor will she ever attempt to use her sexuality to sell her music, and she’s doing just fine now.
And to my earlier point: do you really believe there is not one person who is gay and/or supports gay rights who does not advocate this kind of public display of homo sex? I find that hard to believe.
Also, I must defend our hostess against your calling what she wrote “vile”. There were no pejorative terms – for gays or otherwise – used, and she is free to share her critique of his “performance”. You make it sound as if she had joined Fred Phelp’s “church”. Lighten up.
Who?
Oh and: Nice haircut, kid.
Translation: You’re all prudes!
As I said above, if Lambert doesn’t want us commenting on his sexuality, he shouldn’t be simulating sexual acts on stage. We’re all getting sick of being told to celebrate perversion (gay or straight; JLo wasn’t exactly wearing age appropriate garb up there) and having all manner of sexuality hailed as “normal” that this backlash is to be expected. I am not going to applaud that which I find morally repugnant in order to stroke someone’s ego.
If you don’t want us to say anything that hurts your feelings, stop producing crap that’s a hair’s breadth away from being porn.
Oh, and Lambert’s performance? He didn’t run it by producers or do any of that in rehearsals, I was told on the news this morning. This is why ABC dropped him from GMA. That also says a lot for his true intentions and integrity as a performer…
Hi there!
If you really want to see for yourself just how sick and depraved the homosexual community really is, simply google studies regarding homosexuality and homosexual behavior. There are numerous studies that expose the claims by GLAAD and others that homosexuals are no different than other people.
Adam Lambert is just an open example of the perversion that comes from the homosexual community. (And, by the way, I don’t want to know about anyone’s sexual behavior — but once they throw it in my face, I will be forced to make a judgment call. When it comes to homosexuality, or for that matter any hypersexual and related immoral behavior, it gets my condemnation.)
