Demcare dunce of the day: Sen. Bennet says he’ll sacrifice job…that he’s already losing

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 23, 2009 10:11 AM

Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet made weekend headlines with his noble declaration that he’ll stand by the Demcare takeover — even if it means losing his job.

Since he was already well on his way to losing his seat thanks to his reckless vote for generational theft and bogus government job inflation, where’s the sacrifice?

This isn’t called standing on principle. It’s called cutting his losses preemptively.

Democratic “martyrdom” at work:

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet said Sunday that he is willing to trade his job for health care reform, if that is what a vote in favor of President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority eventually costs him.

The Colorado senator made the remark at the end of the opening segment of CNN’s Sunday morning program “State of the Union,” appearing to surprise host John King, who quipped, “All right. That tape will be held.”

Bennet faces a tough election next year in a state that polls suggest is increasingly unhappy with the Democrats’ expansive agenda.

King asked him, “If you get to the final point and you are a critical vote for health care reform, and every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill, you will lose your job, would you cast the vote and lose your job?”

Bennet replied simply, “Yes.”

The remark was quickly picked up by partisans on both sides but seemed to especially cheer those on the left, who have become accustomed to the hemming and hawing of swing-state Democrats in the Senate over health reform.

Hey, keep thumbing your nose as your constituents, Dems! The stampede of independent voters bailing on Big Government never sounded so sweet.

I fear that many American still niavely hope that their government cares a whit about what they think or want. The political rogues now are in Congress and the Brahmin imperial Presidency. Rogue with respect to the Constitution, the rule of law, and the will of the People. Now the greatest threat to America and the world is the renegade US Government.

It makes sense to me. I’m from Denver and NO ONE could understand why Gov Ritter picked this guy. Everyone was baffled by the decision Ritter made and now we know it was because Bennet was the stooge the Dems needed to get the progressive agenda through. Bennet and Ritter knew what Obama was going to jam down our throats in the months to come. They had special meetings together during the DNC convention here last summmer.
Michael Bennet… you sold out your country and your childrens future. Go to hell….. Oh Wait…. Your seante seat will be cold but I believe there’s a seat being warmed up for you in hell..

The Dems know that they will suffer huge losses next year. It doesn’t matter. They also know the Republicans won’t win a super majority, so the Dems will ram as much of their agenda down our throats now, then obstruct all Republican attempts to fix their mess after the elections. The Republicans would need a veto-proof super majority, the cojones to use it, and the integrity not to abuse it — and that ain’t happening anytime soon.

Yeah, but you just know the MSM will spin it Bennet’s. By the time they finish playing him up as the most altruistic human on earth, a man of “great” principle and “high moral” character, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see him reelected.

What is scarier is that once the Republicans Assistant Democrats re-take control, nothing will change. The Assistant Democrats are only interested in being in charge. They don’t actually stand for anything.

I am confident that this bill is going to fail. The Senate is hoping to get their version of the bill into joint committee by Xmas which means there will be another vote on cloture requiring 60 votes again to get it out of the Senate. The bill as it current stands will not get 60 votes and it takes 60 votes to make any amendments.

Whatever bill that does emerge will not survive in joint committee and so this would carry well into next year when it will run into a wall of Tea Party resistance as election season gets going.

I think this bill is dead. We should be focusing on the Tea Party issues and make sure we make both parties pay in 2010. No incumbents.

Busy day today. I think the bill will probably not pass as it is but a form of it will. The Marxists, communists in our government are working overtime to make these changes before people really know what’s at stake. Some will go along with it anyway. It may be able to reverse some of what’s done but as we know, once the government puts a program in place, it’s nearly impossible to change.

Rush is talking about the Dems sacrificing some of their own toward the bigger goal. Bennet is one he just spoke about.

These are dangerous times and I’m afraid for our future.

He was never elected, he was appointed by Ritter to take Salazar’s place. Most Dems in CO wanted Andrew Romanoff to get the job.

On top of being a Dem lapdog, Bennet is a carpetbagger from back East. He came in to help straighten out Denver Public Schools with their typical inner-city issues. He was actually doing a fairly decent job with DPS, he should have kept that job.

We got a card in the mail over the weekend for a Bennet open house on Dec 5th. It would have been interesting to attend (we have a school concert that day).

Unfortunately, with the large influx of people from places like CA and NY, Colorado is no longer red. I keep telling people that we’re moving to Wyoming as soon as the kids graduate from high school.
