It’s because they have no economic opportunity!

It’s because Denver is up to its eyeballs in minority gangs, and hesitates when taking action as a result. Black gangs are one thing, but Hispanic gangs are a whole other beast.

Despite the potential danger to people in downtown Denver, a police source, on a condition of anonymity, told CALL7 Investigators that the Denver Police Department was withholding information about a series of attacks and assaults that have occurred in roughly the same area in the past two months.

“In each of the cases a lone male victim was walking in the area when attacked by multiple suspects. The suspects are generally described as black males and black females, with ages ranging from mid-teens to mid-20s,” Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

I live and work in downtown Denver. I read the newspaper. I pay attention. I heard nothing about this until the arrests were made. Nothing. I can assure you that if the crimes had been something different – attacks on blacks, rapes of women – they would have garnered much more attention. But attacking white guys? Who cares.

I live in Denver and there were stories here and there in the local news about people being attacked downtown by large groups of people, but race never entered into it until a couple of months ago. This does not surprise me.

As an aside, I grew up here, worked in LoDo and live just outside downtown. A good rule of thumb is to stay well away from LoDo and 16th street as last call approaches, unless you want to be a part of the mass drunk exodus from the bars that line the streets. Easy pickins for thugs like these.
