Thanksgiving 2009

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Keep our troops on the front lines and around the world in your prayers.
Video from the DFAC at COB Adder in Iraq:
Greetings from soldiers at COB Speicher:
Here is President Obama’s proclamation.
But you can’t do better than George Washington’s First Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1789:
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor – and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be – That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation – for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war –for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed – for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions – to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually – to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed – to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord – To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us – and generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
GO. WASHINGTON.

Am so very thankful for being a citizen of the greatest country in the world.
A miracle (and blessing) to be celebrating these many years. Thank you George Washington for your insight and proclaimation to place God above all. The troubles of today are directly attributed to a nation of people where all too many have placed God somewhere near the bottom of the issues.
Happy Thanksgiving Day, and God bless our troups, countrymen, and families from coast to coast.
Perhaps I shall click on President Obama’s proclamation Friday. George Washington is fine for today.
Yes indeed remember our troops here and deployed and all good people away from their families today. I am
helping-watching my wife make the pies to take to the dinner. A heroes work is never done, is it? We are also taking six dozen tamales to pass around. There is no truth to the rumor they are gato tamales.Eat big today for tomorrow we diet. (seems I have heard that before)
Meow.
A happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours.
May God the Father Almighty continue to Bless and protect our Great Country and all of our fighting men and women.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all who visit your websites.
Z
God bless our great Country, and the brave men and women that stand watch and fight to protect it.
Thanks for this incredible blog and the tireless work that you do Michelle in keeping conservative ideals alive; in fighting against those on the left who have betrayed our Country, and abandoned, for selfish personal gain and power, the dream of our Founding Fathers.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Remember WHO we are thanking for our blessings. This is a day specifically set aside to honor Almighty God. The rain falls on the just and the unjust, delivered by the Hand of God.
Happy Thanksgiving to all, and thanks to God for His continued blessing upon this nation and upon our homes.

Somehow this link didn’t appear in my post. From the same page as the Presidential proclamation. Interesting read.
I wish all here at Michell Malkin a very Happy Thanksgiving. I ask God to please be with our men and women serving in our military and their families.
L
letget,
Oh dear, I did not spell Michelle right in the last post. So sorry.
L
I am thankful for being born in the USA and for all the opportunities and freedoms I have. I am thankful my two children came home safely this year from Iraq deployments and I grieve for those who did not. God bless America. And God bless you all.
Sometimes we forget what we have, versus what we want. Many of us, in this great country, have things and blessings that many in the world can only dream about. Things like computers, tvs, bank accounts, shelter, cars, a/c and heat, etc.. We can shop at grocery stores and electronic stores with ease. Yes, we have so much to be thankful for, this year. May God bless you and your family. Enjoy your day and meal, and remember Him who looks over you. Blessed be our troops in harm’s way. May they come home safe.
Our favorite holiday. Our favorite meal. Best of all we stay home alone. We will not have to listen to any idiot democrats. A perfect day.
I am thankful that there is still something left of America even after Obama and the Democrats continue to have their way with her.
I am thankful for the outstanding work of Malkin, Coulter, and Palin (not to slight Steyn and Sowell) to preserve what is left of our freedoms. Though I have strong disagreements with all three, they are on the front lines and they deserve our full support.
Finally, I am thankful that large segments of the populace are finally waking up and resisting the evils coming from Washington. As Churchill might have put it: it is not the end, not even the beginning of the end, but this year we saw the end of the beginning. So I hope.
I’m thinking that perhaps I will click on it…never. His proclamations mean NOTHING to me.
I am pulling the things together to bring to our family gathering, and preparing to make the baked corn.
I thank God for the Pilgrims and my brave patriot Great-Grandfather, William Brewster. I am also thankful that my nephew, Christopher, will be with us this year instead of Afghanistan. He was injured (not seriously) and now is able to be home for the holidays. Some injuries can be blessings! Although he was injured over there, it wasn’t in the line of duty…he was hurt playing basketball! Good grief! Anyway, he is a brave soldier on the battlefield and I am so proud of him! I am most thankful for my loved ones, my husband, my beautiful two daughters and 3 grandsons. And always, God’s blessing on Michelle Malkin and all the other patriots of today who will be the ones to save our union. God Bless America!!
It is a beautiful day here in Germantown, Tennessee. I have a roof over my head, the heat is on, and my truck has a full tank of gas. Both of my sons live in the local area and will be here with their families for a home cooked dinner which my beautiful wife of 40 years has been cooking for 2 days. Our neighborhood is safe, our neighbors are friendly and I just saw the eye doc who told me my glaucoma is under control. My only wish is that God will continue to protect our country, the greatest in the world, from all enemies, foreign and domestic, especially the domestic one that lives in that large white house in the District of Columbia.
William Brewster is my great-grandfather X 13!!! I’m not THAT old!
I was very tempted to make a comment about that, happyscrapper.
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
I am thankful for global warming (sarcasm) as I am playing golf in Saratoga NY in Nov.!
On a somewhat unrelated item, although I wholly disagree with virtually all their policies, I wish no ill will to the President or Vice President, and am glad those morons that crashed the state dinner did not harm them. It could have easily happened.
Wishing you the very best on this Thanksgiving day, Michelle. Just keep up the good work. I am so thankful for the soldiers, police officers and firefighters who keep this country safe.
*Happy Thanksgiving to one and all on this truly All-American holiday; We are so blessed to live and flourish in this great land that He has bestowed upon us.
*I shall continue daily to lift our troops up in my thoughts and prayers; There are much tougher days ahead and we must be prepared to act in saving the Republic.

George Washington’s 1789 THANKSGIVING DAY SPEECH came from his heart. He had a strong faith in God–and he knew that death was at his elbow many times in his life.
***
When he was serving in the King’s Militia (French and Indian War?) he was riding behind the line of cannon and directing their fire. After the fight he found a few musket ball holes in his greatcoat–a few inches behind him as he rode.
***
His iron will gave us our country–in a time when 30 percent of the people wanted a free country, 30 percent wanted to stay royalist, and 40 percent didn’t care either way. A lot like our country today as the Conservatives resist Comrade Obama’s plans to change our country into the new United Socialist States of Amerika.
***
Washington’s inputs into our Constitution and what it should provide us were very important. The best American President we ever had.
***
I won’t be watching any Comrade Obama (PBUH) speech today. George must be rolling over in his grave as he watches The Messiah and his ilk trashing our liberty.

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone that visits this site and especially to those away from family and friends in the service of this great nation! We have much to be thankful for in our household as God shines his blessings on us through the good times and bad.
The video of our troops enjoying a great meal in the Chow Hall (there I go being politically incorrect again instead of calling it a Dinning Facility) brought back memories of the many Thanksgiving dinners I have enjoyed prepared by the often maligned military food preparation professionals. This and Christmas are the two days out of the year they get the opportunity to make sure our troops get the best possible fare available with the meager resources they make due with during the rest of the year.
Thank you Michelle for providing the wonderful Thanksgiving message from the man who set the standard of eloquence and selfless devotion to God and Country so many other Presidents have failed to attain.
Thank you MM for your hard work and great journalism
And read about the crisis he is manufacturing for us?
I too, will skip what Zero has to say; thanks for posting Washington’s fine words and the videos
I am thankful for the watchdog media of the blogosphere, they seem to be the only journalists with any integrity. There was a reason freedom of the press had such a place of prominence in the bill of rights. We are seeing the importance of that in these days. Best to you and your family Michelle.
Thanksgiving greetings from Massachusetts.
And while we’re up to our armpits in some of the looniest liberals in all the country, I’m thankful for all that I have. And for the fact that in a few short hours I’ll be celebrating with my family in Plymouth, only a few miled from where the pilgrims stepped ashore. The history of this area makes up for the crazies that I spend my days amongst.
Incidently, the Native Americans in the area march through Plymouth as a day of mourning, not celebration.
God bless Michelle and her family, all the readers and commenters and their families, and most of all the men and women that make our way of life possible, our soldiers. Their families deserve special prayers for the sacrifice they make that we all take for granted, being together with our loved ones at this time of year.
As John Wayne once commented, “They should have fought harder.”
Enjoy God’s blessings on you and your family this day.
We live in a wonderful country.
Lol, leave it to the Duke!
I see it as the inevitable outcome of an advanced society meeting essentially a stone-age society. It happened often through-out history, always with the same results.
And to you!! I probably should have left it the way it was…the comments might have been fun!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
I am thankful for every aspect of my health, for my wife, family, friends, and for the opportunities that have been presented to us in the past few years.
I’m thankful that I can still openly admit that I believe in God.
Happyscrapper, that makes you and Palin distant relatives.
Thankful for having food in my belly, a bit of booze for later, and a GREAT German Shepard to spoil rotten!
All prayers and thanks to our wonderful Service Men and Women for keeping us from harm and protecting our freedoms in this crazy world.
And a special thanks to Michelle for daily reminding us of just what we have – and what we need to do to KEEP IT!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for the life I have enjoyed as a Citizen of this great nation. I thank all those who have come before me, from the generations of George Washington to Ronald Reagan, that have paid with their blood, sweat, and tears to make it great.
God bless you all
I wish you a bountiful Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.
God Bless You All.
Thank you for all you do on your blog Michelle. I am a grateful reader.
Never and nothing works-I think.
Has anyone noticed how ANGLO those Plymouth Indians/Native Americans/indigenous crybabies look? As they were wearing neither loin cloth nor buckskins just what are they mourning? Driving to your protest while listening to your iPod and talking on a cell phone does not impress me all that much.
As I often tell some of the “Mayan/Spanish hybrids (now now)” in my family and circle: If those Blue Eyed White Devils hadn’t come here and Destroyed Paradise NONE OF US WOULD EVER HAVE BEEN BORN.
So my Indians/Native Americans/indigenous crybabies and “Mayan/Spanish hybrids (now now)” go home, watch football on the flat screen and give thanks you were born here.
Pass the apple, cherry, pumpkin and mincemeat pies.Tomorrow we diet-and this time I mean it
A hearty Happy Thanksgiving to All!
I too am thankful for all that God has bestowed on me…a loving wife, a beautiful daughter, all that I need to live and even my son-in-law.
I am also thankful for the men and women who protect us without every asking to be thanked. They are one of this country’s greatest assets.
I am also thankful for Michelle Malkin for all the hard work she does.
LOL, yeah, my black Lab will be spoiled but good today.
Proclamation, Croclamation. I have absolutely NO interest whatsoever in listening to Obama drivel on Thanksgiving Day. I give thanks that I can exercise my free right NOT to be subject to worthless jive propaganda. Bring on the football!
One of my other heros, the Duke! Gota love him.
Again, Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Same here
May Gd bless you and your family Michelle. Thank you for all you do.
Did lgm overdose on Obama-ade? He’s MIA, which is fine with me.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the great patriots here and especially to the Monster Threaders (you know who you are)!
Happy Thanksgiving to all here. May God Bless this country once again and may He keep our troops safe from enemies both foreign and domestic.
My how FOB Speicher has grown. I remember… Well that’s what it’s like for ‘old Soldiers’.
Happy Thanksgiving one and all. Very special thanks to any who are eating or ate their Thanksgiving dinner delivered in a Mermite.
Hi ssnark!
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
God Bless you Michelle, continually!
I am thankful for a lot of things, particularly my family and those deployed protecting us.
At this point, I am most thankful for whoever caused the data from CRU to become public.
Without that action, trillions of dollars over many years would have been wasted on a hoax while those responsible enriched themselves.
Our way of life would be changed forever.
I am also thankful for Michelle and others who stay on top of that and other topics.
The current news from many areas suggest those caught red-handed are trying to excuse their fraudulent actions by claiming they were only emails taken out of context.
According to the computer programmer documents also released, it is CLEAR that fraud occurred using data manipulation as well as computer software manipulation as well as criminal activity in deleting data.
These hoaxers should not be allowed to get away with claiming they were only emails being taken out of context…and I am thankful for those willing to expose this.
It’s also important that we remember what the first Thanksgiving feast was all about.
Perhaps ReBamSi should check it out. They’d probably call it conservative propaganda, but at least they’d see it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
This past week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m 42 years old with no family history so with the new guidelines I would have fallen through the cracks. I had been watching the commercials on the Style Network in Oct. where all the female hosts of the different shows were doing campy “sexy” self-breast exams. I was laying in bed one night a couple of weeks ago joking around with the hubby “ooh I’m doing my breast self-exam” and then I was like OMG I feel something. Last Tuesday I went to the OB/Gyn to check it out, had my 1st mammo and an ultrasound which showed a suspicious mass. This past Monday I went to a breast surgeon for a biopsy and Tuesday afternoon, ONE WEEK AFTER MY INITIAL APPT, I was told I have breast cancer.
As shocking as the diagnosis was (I have 4 kids ages 8 thru 4 months) I cannot overstate how thankful I am that I live in a country where you can get these tests and results so quickly. Even the surgeon remarked that right now they can treat these cancers early and aggressively but in a couple of years that might not be the case.
It just tears me up to think that in a few years women in their 30′s and 40′s may not get the care that I’ve received and their kids will have to grow up without a mom.
I think I ate too much. No, actually I am sure I ate too much. Ah, well…back to the gym tomorrow. The Packers won so all’s right with the world!
An overview of Dear Leader’s Turkey Day proclamation:
“On this special day when we all pause to give thanks, I think all of us can put aside our differences and agree on one thing we are all thankful for. Me. Thank me for me. Amen.”
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody here. I am thankful for you folks, and especially our hostess Michelle. A great year for MM and Hot Air! God bless always!
vsatt – You and your family will be in our prayers. Hopeing and praying this will come out well for you.
Hi, swede!
Are you in Wisconsin or just an honorary
Cheesehead?
They played the Detroit Lions fer cryin out loud! They should’ve won!
Jugears celebrated T-Day by hand carrying the GQ with him on the cover to Camp David.
Rogue Cheddar is in Michigan????
Do you still have a job?
Anyway, God bless you all and your’n! Even though I live in Taxachusetts and as bad as our Country is right now, there is still none better to live.
Thank you Michelle for having me at your table.
I’m bloody well stuffed and will now proceed to curl up like a boa constrictor and sleep for a month.
zzzzzzzZZZZ
The tryptophan turkey sedation effect sets in.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Packers and Lions? Oh please, Who Dat? Big shout out to da Saints.. 10-0 playing the Pats on Monday night. And in the meantime… War Da** Eagle! Not that it will mean much when the Tide rolls into town…LOL
Wait a minute..
vsatt, I have no family history either,
pure – Grew up in the land of Olie and Sven, ya hey? Live in Atlanta now for some reason known only to God and my business associates.
vsatt – Please maintain an aire of reverence and decorum when invoking the Packer name. I have been to St. Vincent’s Cathedral (Lambeau Field) when Lombardi was there with Bart Star and the Gang. An out of body experience. (Especially sitting on metal bleachers when it was -10 degrees)
swede, nice to feel someone here knows me. I guess you mean you grew up in WI.
Sorry you have to live away from home.
swede, how can you talk about anything else but her breast cancer?
pure – I am a chesehead, ya.
vsatt brought up the football, and talking up some team who call themselves Saints, but aren’t.
I lost my mother to cancer 30 years ago for the very reasons she mentioned – by the time they found it, it was too advanced. V has a very good chance of beating this and as I said she will be in my prayers.
vsatt – Please keep us posted.
Hapy Thanksgiving to all my friends (even WE82) here on the MM board. I hope everyone had as wonderful a time with their family as I did with mine.
And to pure…the green bean casserole recipe is not mine. It is Alton Brown’s (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/best-ever-green-bean-casserole-recipe/index.html) and it is really good.
oy…vsatt, we are all pulling for you.
chap – Wine pairing with green bean casserole? Gotta be a tough one.
Happy Thanksgiving counselor, and lets get that tort reform done! It will save the polar bears!
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
God Bless America.
vsatt: Hopes and prayers for a successful outcome are with you.
Thanks guys for the well wishes, and Swede, do feel free to talk about anything but my cancer. Lord knows I’m doing the same every chance I get.
I’m a former US Army JAG. I appreciate the sentiment expressed here for our current troops. Thank you all and have a great Thanksgiving weekend!
Happy Thanksgiving to all here. A heartfelt thanks to all of our troops serving their country. May the Good Lord continue to pour His blessings upon us all.
Thanksgiving is always a cunundrum for the sommilier. I say go with either a light fruity red, like a cru or villages level Beaujolais, or a verrry slightly off dry white, like a good German Reisling.
Or Champagne. Honestly, nothing pairs better with a wide variety of foods than a nice sparkly.
I hope all here had a truly great and Blessed Thanksgiving. As always the food and fellowship was fine and the littlest kids getting wired up was the entertainment.
You are in my prayers vsatt-we keep our Faith in our God in this struggle.
A belated Happy Thanksgiving to all the folks on MM!
I managed to get out to see my brothers and parents yesterday. Good fun. Hope you all had a good day.
vsatt: Keep your hopes up. Modern medicine is incredible!
Looks like you caught it in time, Vsatt. Once, not long ago, cancer was considered a “death sentence”, but with new advances made all the time, recovery is much more assured. I’m concerned over my little patients, who have chronic conditions, and whether this new “health care” will leave them “out on a limb” and ignored. Already they want to cap the flexible accounts.
I thank God for you, Dear Michelle. He’s given you the courage and articulation skills to express what we should be saying every day we awake to an American sunrise.
