2. They react to the word “black” in the same way that the Knights of Ni responded to hearing the word “it.”
I have long wondered at the proper spelling of “Ni.”
Black crayons are racist.

You can tell that she has never worked in a business as an adult, other than the entertainment/news business. Otherwise, she would understand that a business “in the red” means it’s losing money; “in the black” means it’s making money. There are many retail and etail stores that don’t make money for most of the year, hence “Black Friday” is the turning point in the financial statements.
Is she providing the economic analysis for the “Cap and Trade” and “Health Reform” bills????

Notice it was Whoopi who knew about “in the red (loss)” versus “in the black (profit)”. It was the liberal white lady who had a knee-jerk reaction that “Black Friday” had a racial/racist connotation.

You may not be shocked to learn that I put little thought into the trappings of Christmas, or whatever tangential relationship the odious phenomenon known as Black Friday has to do with Christmas.

Two of my brothers were union painters. For them, every other friday was a “Black Friday.” It was blacked out on their calendars because, according to union rules, they were not required to work that day. So, every other weekend could be a 3-day weekend.
Of course, all vacations they took were unpaid. So most of these guys would work Black Friday and salt away the money so they could pay bills when they went on vacation. They did get paid overtime for working on Black Friday but the socialist income tax stole most of that so they had to work a lot of Black Fridays just to come out even.
Ain’t socialism wonderful!

I worked Black Friday, first timer.
It wasn’t bad. Very busy, but the customers were in good moods and I tried to keep the waiting to a minimum and apologized for the what wait there was many times. But, as I said people were very nice, enjoying themselves and quite patient.
As for the numbers, we were hoping to do $644,000 for the day, we actually did $657,000 so it was good.
I didn’t know that that ONE day brought in more than all the previous days of the year combined. WOW!
