Will Desiree Rogers show up to House hearing on Crashergate?

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 1, 2009 10:32 AM

Oh, what a dilemma for White House social secretary/Chicago crony bundler Desiree Rogers!

She has been asked to testify at Thursday’s House Homeland Security Committee hearing on Crashergate.

On the one hand, it’ll be hard for the camera hog to turn down a moment in the nationwide spotlight.

As I told you yesterday, she’s almost as big a publicity hound as the crasher couple Tareq and Michaele Salahi (obligatory Today Show interview here) themselves.

On the other hand, Diva Desiree would have to answer questions under oath.

Decisions, decisions.

***

Some have characterized the Crashergate story as a “mini-scandal.”

But I want to reiterate a serious security point I made on Fox & Friends last week while discussing this story– a point that should be made during this Thursday’s hearing.

The Obama administration isn’t the first to encounter White House breaches. At least the Salahis never misrepresented themselves.

During the Bush years, I reported on an illegal alien contractor at the White House who had used a false identity and fraudulent documents and was employed for at least two years as a social events supervisor. The Secret Service failed to detect him and he gained access to the Cheneys during a White House Christmas party:

1kelvin.jpg

Posing as “Kelvin Rodriguez,” the man — Mexican citizen Salvador Martinez-Gonzalez — worked for HDO Productions Inc., which billed itself as “the nation’s most respected provider of special event tent and accessory rentals.” Martinez-Gonzalez had access to the White House grounds, the Pentagon, and NASA, and rubbed elbows with Washington’s most powerful officials. He kept festive photos of himself with Bill Clinton and the Cheneys as souvenirs to show off his insider access. He had been ordered kicked out of the county by the Immigration and Naturalization Service in February 2000, but was able to evade the law and fool both his employer and the Secret Service through petty identity fraud. He was eventually caught at the U.S.-Mexico border.

If the White House staff/Secret Service can’t keep grifters like the Salahis or petty illegal alien con artists like Martinez-Gonzalez out of the president’s home, what does that say about the feds’ ability to keep far more dangerous intruders out of our homeland?

***

Good question: The Anchoress wonders if we will ever see the e-mails between the Salahis and DOD official Michele Jones.

Heh. Commenter JSR: “The party crashers Sahalis getting into the White House is a minor story. The real security risk and what I still can’t fathom is that scam artists like the Obamas live there.”

There is a lot more to this story than we know. It sounds like they may have been given the “go-ahead” by someone in the WH, but given the scandal and publicity, they now can’t tell anyone who said they could go in. I think it must be someone pretty high up so they could by-pass the Secret Service on that person’s say-so. That is just the latest stuff I have been hearing. I wonder if we will ever find out, or will this also be swept under the rug, like the Statue of Liberty flyover fiasco was!! This administration is full of clowns and duffuses…and this is just another in a series of stupid blunders. One of the “blunders” is going to get someone killed.

I find it hard to believe the Secret Service let these people through by accident. They showed up, and somewhere along the way a wink and nod was given by someone higher up to let them pass.

If that’s the case, then it’s a non-story. People with connections, as these folks obviously have, get into places they don’t belong all through society all the time. It’s why people make connections in the first place.

The Chief Party Time Bimbo had that responsibility. SS does security not parties but one or more agents will be gutted for this. Rest assured that they will do it all now – down to the minute detail. Fool me once, shame on you….

Now that we know about the Salahis, I wonder how many other uninvited attendees were or have been present at Obama WH swoiees ?

Jackass is a perfect word to describe this doofus. He is the most inarticulate, bumbling moron the WH has ever had for a spokesperson. Where the heck did they find this guy? He must have secret tapes somewhere and is blackmailing someone. There is no other explanation for keeping this guy out there day after day with his rambling, sarcastic answers and “um’s” said every other word. It is just so painful to watch him.

I’m not so sure. Scott McClellan was pretty bad too and he got a pretty sweet book deal out of it. Bet Gibbs is thinking the same thing for down the road. And I hope his book is a failure too. Btw, what ever happened to Scotty?

If we are that easily distracted, God help us. But I can see where they might be trying to do just that. The healthcare “debate” is going on right now in the Senate. We are all so wrapped up in minor issues, plus getting very busy with the Christmas Season…they could easily slip the healthcare bill through in the dead of night. I am terrified that it is going to happen. The two stories that should be covered continually right now are health”care” and climategate. Nothing else matters if these two things are not brought out into the light of day. It is so hard for me to comprehend that the media is complicit in this marxist takeover of our country. They will suffer for it, but don’t seem to care or even see it coming.

And I agree that you can bet if the secret service let someone in that wasn’t on the list, they did so because they got some sort of “ok” from someone at the White House. I find it hard to believe that an agent looking at a list and not finding a name, would just let that person into the White House. These guys take bullets for our Presidents. This makes no sense.

No, like the head of GE, AMA, and many of the pharma companies, these sellout collaborator traitors think they have cut side deals to save their financial bacon. Marxists don’t do side deals; they achieve their goal then pop a round in the back of the collaborator’s head. These fools just do not understand, yet, with whom they are dealing.

So true. After all, they have to put their hand on a Bible and swear to tell the truth. But if the Bible is just another dumb superstitious book to them, what does the “oath” mean? Nothing. They have no values to tell them to speak the truth, no inner voice, no concept of what it is like to be trusted. They trust no one and not even themselves. What a sad, dangerous bunch of traitors running our country.

What bothers me about this whole fiasco, is that instead of reality show wannabees, this could have been an islamist bomber intent on killing the Indian PM in the White House. How hard would it have been for them to carry a vial of nerve gas or anthrax (or some other chemical/bio weapon that wouldn’t show on a metal detector)in her purse?

This story should not be taking up the airwaves with health care being debated, but it should be getting investigated at the highest secret service levels.

As much as I dislike The Won, the security of our national leaders should be the highest priority. On the upside, most of the GOP leaders didn’t get invited, so they would have been available to take over int he event of a mass murder.

My thought is that if they were in fact invited (and I dont just mean Michelle O saying they were opening up the WH so it will truly once again be the people’s house)the Obamas decided to throw the Secret Service under the bus (after all in the mind of the Obamas they are expendable help)when someone discovered how bad it would look that the Obama’s had this unscrupulous couple hobnobbing with them.

Good point. They’re all untouchable. For now…. But when Washington changes hands, they may regret setting the precedent of trying to prosecute members of the previous administration.

Well, we won’t need any precedent to prosecute these traitors. Their record of treason is indesputable. If most of these a@@holes don’t end up in prison, it will be a travesty of justice.

Let’s see – since neither the White House staff nor the Secret Service has anything to do with national security even remotely of the kind you’re talking about, the answer to this would be…it says nothing about it at all.
