I’m concerned that the Speaker of the House couldn’t believe that a question concerning the potential jailing and fining of a hypothetical citizen for refusing to buy healthcare coverage was serious. I guess she is not familiar with the Constitution. She’s probably also not familiar with the oaths I took in the Army to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

My trigger proposal would be if this boondoggle passes it would trigger states to secede. The only way to stop this runaway train of government take overs is to take away their ability to do so. What could your state do with the amount of tax revenue we send to Washington every year? Would your state do a better job of looking after your needs while keeping costs down? Let’s find out.

Snowe favors a trigger proposal, where a public option would go into effect if the private health insurance market falters.

And they’ll see to it it falters.

The public option would kick in for states where insurance companies fail to meet standards of availability and affordability of plans.

And they’ll see to it they don’t meet the standards.

States might be permitted required to opt into the public option even if the benchmarks are met.

That’s what they meant to say.

This public option would operate alongside private insurance and, potentially, the nonprofit healthcare cooperatives and state-based public plans authorized by Reid’s bill.
