Introducing the “Geithner Penalty Waiver Act”

Turning the tables on Tax Cheat Timmy? Just desserts from the GOP:
Congressmen John Carter (R-TX) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) yesterday introduced the Geithner Penalty Waiver Act, requiring that the IRS assess the same penalty against U.S. taxpayers that came forward in the UBS tax fraud investigation as paid by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner for failing to pay taxes on his IMF income — zero.
…“Taxpayers who willfully attempt to evade paying their fair taxes should pay a penalty, or our tax code becomes unenforceable,” says Carter. “This bill is not to reward tax evaders, but to defend the Rule of Law itself. If we as a nation choose not to enforce the law against the politically privileged, then we cannot enforce the law against others without undermining respect for the law itself.”

Heh.
Grandstanding, of course. But funny grandstanding.
Perfect
Appropriate grandstanding.
Local news should have this on in the first 10 mins of their broadcasts. People love this stuff. If they weren’t afraid to offend their benefactor, they’d probably put it on.
Stve Martin’s “How to make a million dollars and pay no taxes”.
First – make a million dollars.
Second – two words: “I forgot.”
Chap, it is more than grandstanding. This brings the hyprocacy of the Obama administration into the sunlight. It may fail, but it is one more voice in the rapidly growing outcry over the corruption of Washington.
This is good. It won’t fly, the d’s won’t let it happen, but it is funny.
L
Very Appropriate.
It’s in the Constitution, after all…
I am still laughing – so appropriate to name the act after one of the Empty Suits grifters
That is a beat down….. SWEEEEEEEET!
Timmy “Let them eat cake!”
It also puts them D’s in a bit of a quandry and may force Timmy out. The D’s don’t want the stigma of protecting a politically priveldged tax cheat especially when they want to raise taxes to pay for Obamacare. On the other hand if they force Timmy out due to his tax cheating ways then the R’s can set their sites on Rangel.
You beat me to it!
Kudos.
You did, too.
Kudos to you, also!
This is exactly what minority parties should do when out of power. It reassures voters that the injustice of having a tax-cheating Treasury Security is not without penalty to all who nominated and approved him.
This is off topic, but very serious:
Truesoldier,
I agree it could be a mess for d’s. It would be wonderful to take out ALL those in dc who think they are above the law the rest of us have to deal with. If we can take one down at a time it would be wonderful. I thank the two congress persons who did this. It is still funny to me.
L
Correction: that should have said “Treasury Secretary”, not Security.
Oh John Carter of Mars, how I wish you were my Congressman.
If this has legs, I’d like to see it followed by The Chris Dodd Mortgage Equity Act, and the Charles Rangle Tax Privileges Act, and the Your Mortgage Personally Guaranteed by the Privately Held Funds of Barney Frank Act, and the Send Your Doctor Bills to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid Act.
On December 2nd, 2009 at 3:09 pm,
Not to mention the DNC Take a Terrorirs Home program for all those terrorists coming from GITMO to the US.
I’m pleased they keep hammering at this stuff. Bad things happen when good men do nothing. They won’t let it just “go away.” Good for them. Good for us.
Check!
Checkmate!!
I wonder where Rhambo will send the dead fish….
Pass the popcorn please.
No,”Let them eat Whitey Bread.”
First they have to get the appropriate documentation via the Barack Obama Foreign Exchange Student Visa Act.
Rogue, I was thinking along the same lines. On a related note…
All U.S. employees would no longer have to present documents to prove employment eligibility.
Instead of having to meet the documentation requirements of an I-9 form, they can just give a web URL, thanks to the new
If only cajones in the GOP weren’t in such short supply. The GOP might not control any branch of the Legislative branch, but they certainly don’t have to act like it too.
Ah…you’re picking on millionaires who have bad memories…seems to be a lot of them up in Washington.
The democrats just dole out the laws, they don’t expect to follow them.
Just heard on Fox that Harry Reid is trying to make his staffers exempt from the Health bill. Can you bellieve it???
I love it!!!!!
Credo, quia absurdum est
This is very good news as I consider my final quarterly tax payments…
I’d like to see the ‘Presidential Candidate Vital Records Release Act’.
“Whereas it is of critical importance for the People to have full knowledge of the personal, educational, social and employment history of any person who aspires to the office of President, any and all vital statistics, personal, educational, employment or any other records shall be released for public scrutiny at the time of formal declaration of intention to stand for election.”
Whether it has a snowball’s chance in hell or not, it was the right thing to do. Three cheers for these two:
John Carter (R-TX) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA).

Someone should put those in the hopper regardless of if this bill has legs. It would be a reminder of the wonderful service that these legislators have performed for us and as someone pointed out it would be fair and equitable treatment of all citizens under the law. After all over 250 million Americans and countless thousands of illegal aliens don’t enjoy these privileges today and it is neither fair or equitable that the Congress and the Administration doesn’t extend these self same privileges to the people. After all, isn’t it their credo that each gives according to their ability and takes according to their need? Who would be in a better position and has greater privilege and advantage than our Congress and the Executive branches to provide for the needs of the many which surely as they’ve told us outweigh the needs of the few.
A taste of their own medicine may be just the tonic to restore sanity in government. But I’m known to sometimes be overly optimistic.
Like I saw in a movie–what will this accomplish? Nothing, but I ‘m going to enjoy the sh** out of it. Poke the toad on the Demtards as often as you can. Oh–and Newt praises the Odumbo surrender speech–gag!!!
Nothing will come of it but keeping the focus on this scofflaw.
But I guess that’s the point!
I like it. When I ‘forget’ to pay part of my taxes, I want the Geithner rules to apply. And when I maul, molest, grope, or fondle a lady, I want the Clinton rules to apply. And when I deftly do a Three Card Monte with my real estate, I want the Rangel rules to apply. And when I cunningly guard my own personal fortune while calling for the public at large to fork it over, I want the Kennedy-Lautenberg-Corzine-Hollywood airhead rules to apply. And when I…….I gotta rest for a while.
