Introducing the “Geithner Penalty Waiver Act”

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 2, 2009 02:25 PM

Turning the tables on Tax Cheat Timmy? Just desserts from the GOP:

Congressmen John Carter (R-TX) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) yesterday introduced the Geithner Penalty Waiver Act, requiring that the IRS assess the same penalty against U.S. taxpayers that came forward in the UBS tax fraud investigation as paid by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner for failing to pay taxes on his IMF income — zero.

…“Taxpayers who willfully attempt to evade paying their fair taxes should pay a penalty, or our tax code becomes unenforceable,” says Carter. “This bill is not to reward tax evaders, but to defend the Rule of Law itself. If we as a nation choose not to enforce the law against the politically privileged, then we cannot enforce the law against others without undermining respect for the law itself.”

Local news should have this on in the first 10 mins of their broadcasts. People love this stuff. If they weren’t afraid to offend their benefactor, they’d probably put it on.

Chap, it is more than grandstanding. This brings the hyprocacy of the Obama administration into the sunlight. It may fail, but it is one more voice in the rapidly growing outcry over the corruption of Washington.

It also puts them D’s in a bit of a quandry and may force Timmy out. The D’s don’t want the stigma of protecting a politically priveldged tax cheat especially when they want to raise taxes to pay for Obamacare. On the other hand if they force Timmy out due to his tax cheating ways then the R’s can set their sites on Rangel.

This is exactly what minority parties should do when out of power. It reassures voters that the injustice of having a tax-cheating Treasury Security is not without penalty to all who nominated and approved him.

This is off topic, but very serious:

On Jan. 1, 2010, Hezbollah and its de-facto ruler Iran could have a direct line to the Security Council and gain access to all the confidential information to which Security Council members are privy.

In October the U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly voted for Lebanon to be the Asian bloc’s new non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for a 2-year term.

I agree it could be a mess for d’s. It would be wonderful to take out ALL those in dc who think they are above the law the rest of us have to deal with. If we can take one down at a time it would be wonderful. I thank the two congress persons who did this. It is still funny to me.

Someone should put those in the hopper regardless of if this bill has legs. It would be a reminder of the wonderful service that these legislators have performed for us and as someone pointed out it would be fair and equitable treatment of all citizens under the law. After all over 250 million Americans and countless thousands of illegal aliens don’t enjoy these privileges today and it is neither fair or equitable that the Congress and the Administration doesn’t extend these self same privileges to the people. After all, isn’t it their credo that each gives according to their ability and takes according to their need? Who would be in a better position and has greater privilege and advantage than our Congress and the Executive branches to provide for the needs of the many which surely as they’ve told us outweigh the needs of the few.

A taste of their own medicine may be just the tonic to restore sanity in government. But I’m known to sometimes be overly optimistic. :-P

And when I cunningly guard my own personal fortune while calling for the public at large to fork it over, I want the Kennedy-Lautenberg-Corzine-Hollywood airhead rules to apply. And when I…….I gotta rest for a while.
