Who wants to be a Democrat?
Rasmussen rings in the new year with a new poll showing that the number of Americans who identify as Democrats has fallen to its lowest level in seven years:
In December, the number of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats fell to the lowest level recorded in more than seven years of monthly tracking by Rasmussen Reports.
Currently, 35.5% of American adults view themselves as Democrats. That’s down from 36.0 a month ago and from 37.8% in October. Prior to December, the lowest total ever recorded for Democrats was 35.9%, a figure that was reached twice in 2005. See the History of Party Trends from January 2004 to the present.
Republicans still have their work cut out for them:
The number of Republicans inched up by a point in December to 34.0%. That’s the highest total for Republicans since December 2007, just before the 2008 presidential campaign season began.
However, the number of Republicans in the country is essentially no different today than it was in November 2008 when Barack Obama was elected president.

Interesting, though I think both Democrats and Republicans have their work cut out for themselves.

It’s not who wants to be a democrat, it’s who’s going to be a democrat. The cemetaries are full of democrat gonna-be’s.
I see too that Politico has a story regarding the GOP (especially the RNCC) having finaincial problems with fundraising. Of course they are spinning it as a huge problem for the GOP, but I have two words for them on this issue “Dede Scozafozza”. After that fiasco it is no surprise that more Conservatives are holding onto their money so they can send it to the candidate of choice and not to the candidate of the RNCC’s choice.
It can also be said that:
Democrats want to be Hugo Chavez.
Teddy Kennedy wants to be a democrat.
My cat sleeps about 20 hours a day. She has her food prepared for her. She can eat whenever she wants, 24/7/365.
Her meals are provided at no cost to her. She visits the Dr. once a year for her checkup, and again during the year if any medical needs arise. For this she pays nothing, and nothing is required of her. She lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than she needs, but she is not required to do any upkeep. If she makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.
She has her choice of luxurious places to sleep. She receives these accommodations absolutely free.. She is living like a queen, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of her costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day.
I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head, Holy crap! My cat is a democrat!

What the numbers appear to indicate to me is that many so called “moderates” and “independents” are really Democrats, they just don’t want to admit it.
That cat MUST NOT be allowed out on any Tuesday of any month ever! Any mail that cat receives must be shredded immediately upon receipt.

The drop in self-identifying Democrats is of some signficance. I think conservatives are not as likely to identify themselves as Republicans as liberals / progressives are as Democrats. I’ve sent small donations to individual Republican candidates over the past few weeks but I’m certainly not yet persuaded to send a donation to the Republican Party.
I doubt I’m the only conservative to feel that way.

The local news stations were all fawning over Barry Soetoro’s departure on Air Force One last night. They wasted about 15 minutes of the 10:00 news watching the One exit the SUV, walk up the steps and enter the plane. Oh, the thrill!

Let’s be honest. If you’re black, there’s a better than 90 percent chance you are a de facto Democrat. If you’re Hispanic, maybe the odds are 60 percent. But I guess we could pin James Carville down and ask him what the D’s are going to do to re-brand themselves and expand their “Big Tent” to include average, middle-of-the-road Americans, not just that usual collection of isolated minorities they usually garner (gays, abortion activists, radical leftists, the climate change true believers, the “living” dead in Chicago, etc.)

Isn’t it interesting that liberals are shrieking over the “flawed polling models” of Rasmussen but when others have criticized the oversampling of the Dems in certain polls like CNN they’re marginalized as being bitter and hating on Obummer?
Nah…. I wouldn’t want to be a Dem but I’m sure there are a lot of RINO’s (like my own mother) who are contemplating a switch. It’s amazing that RINO’s haven’t made the switch (like Specter) a long time ago. It saves for confusing semantics and political identity ploys when it’s time for reelection.
Our political system is broken and if Americans don’t see it, they’ve learned nothing from the last election. Then again, there are many Americans who’d rather be dupes than participants in their own future.

Well I can’t really blame Hawaiians for being thrilled he was leaving the state. You forgot the last part: with the same standard of living and lifestyle they have grown accustomed to.
It is that part which will wake them up and only that part I fear. When the average person wakes up and realizes that with the government in charge of their life they will no longer have the same standard of living that they once had they will finally come to the realization that government isn’t the solution at all (just ask anyone from the former Soviet Union).
My 8 moth old son is showing Democrat tendencies. Lots of crying, needs constant supervision, cannot feed himself etc… With some help he should outgrow this and become a self-sufficient adult, unlike liberals who remain in this state all their lives.
The criticisms of Rasmussen go beyond perceptions of flawed weighting. There are also legitimate issues with how they word polling questions.
But hey, they are a legit polling company. Their demographic weighting may be spot on. But this does show the inherent problem with relying on, and always citing, one polling firm. Whenever possible, I always cite to one of the poll aggregator sites, like Pollster or RCP (which themselves are not immune from criticism in terms of what polls they include and how they are weighed).
The DemolitionOfAmericaCrats have been allowed to call themselves moderates for far too long. Nobody today believes them to be moderate on anything.
They are not moderate on spending. They are not moderate on taxing. They are not moderate on environment issues, they are not moderate on social issues. THEY ARE NOT MODERATE ON ANYTHING!

I’m sure that if you polled the French, Germans, British, Italians, Spanish, and formerly Soviet-controlled countries in Europe, you’d get at least 90% of them identifying themselves as “Democrats” (that is, people who identify an all-encompassing centralized oligarchy as the source of their wealth, health, and very existence).
The thing about “Democrats” (the definition of which I’ve supplied above) is that they invariably stop procreating, and end up having to encourage the immigration of Muslims (in Europe) and illegal Latinos (in the US) in order to keep their populations from collapsing.
Of course, all this does is to swell the welfare rolls and creates an even larger burden upon the ever-shrinking workforce. In short, “Democrats” value their political power over the continued future existence of their nations. “Democrats” worldwide, in essence, are committing national suicide.
Fortunately for us, there seems to be enough Americans who have grown up in a nation with freedoms, and who recognize political policies that will destroy them. The problem is, there aren’t enough people in either party who have any proclivity towards turning our country back towards protecting our freedoms and liberties, and they continue sending us towards heavy-handed fascism and hard tyranny.

If only property owners were allowed to vote, then you can bet they would not vote to have the government take that property. Which is why the “one person, one vote” fallacy is such a socialist rallying cry. Pack a bunch of non-property owners into the inner cities and give them the vote. They’ll vote to take away everything from the property owners.
That anyone would self-identify as a Democrat proves the old adage “There’s a sucker born every minute”.
Amen! The evidence that the “environmentalist” bunch alone are actively working towards economic collapse and the destruction of enormous numbers of human beings (because they, don’t you know, are themselves a pollutant and plague upon “the planet”) is incontrovertible.

I’m reminded of a scene from the movie “Crazy People” where a bitter ad executive (Dudley Moore) has reached his breaking point and finds himself in a mental institution where his career actually begins to thrive with the help of the hospital’s patients.
In the scene, Dudley’s character is frustrated with the patients and their commitment to helping him. To show how they are really behind him, one of the patients (Darryl Hannah) asks, “Who here wants to be an advertising executive?” and several hands go up.
Dudley Moore’s character then asks, “Who here wants to be a fire truck?” to which everyone raises their hands, with several standing and commenting things like “Ooh, I do!” and “Me! Pick me!”
It’s worse than that, because the Democrats want to give tens of millions of illegal aliens (who have no stake in this country whatsoever) a fast-track towards the “right to vote.” Imagine, that I have lived my entire life as an American citizen, in a family that dates back to our country’s conception, must give away my rights as a free American to a corrupt alien system that wishes to cement its political power by giving entitlements to foreign people who have no heritage of freedom and liberty whatsoever.
Today’s Democratic Party is utterly corrupt and is anathema to the establishing principles of the United States of America. Unfortunately, the GOP isn’t that far behind them, and are merely a lesser of two evils.

If the abominations currently passing through Congress like a kidney stone actually get passed, all these democrats who think everyone will just forget are sadly mistaken.
Once their taxes start increasing to pay for socialist health care they are not going to be very happy.

Obamacare will pass, Cap & Trade will pass, Amnesty will pass. The forces in support of these things are much more powerful (or so they believe) than the American people. Every American citizen should watch Fall of the Republic to see what is actually happening to our nation.
We’re asleep at the wheel. The Tea Parties were a sign that some of us are starting to wake up, but it’s going to take many more to make a difference and gain our nation back. I’m afraid that by the time people realize exactly what is happening, it will be too late.
Sorry to bring it up again, but this would be a great platform for the Tea Party movement.
