CrotchBomberGate report: What’s missing

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 7, 2010 05:26 PM

President Obama had his teleprompter tuned up this afternoon and apparently sipped a bit of Red Bull before taking another stab at making an I’m Really, Really Serious This Time statement about the UndyBomber case. Resolve does not come naturally in this White House.

You can read the brief, 6-page “security review” released by the White House here.

This is the sum total of what the review says about Abdulmutallab’s visa:

As I’ve been noting the past week on Fox, all of the discussion about airline security, intelligence-sharing, and connecting the dots has given short shrift to the atrociously lax visa issuance policies at the State Department. My column tomorrow will go into these failures more in-depth, but for now, you can watch some of my remarks on the subject from Fox and Friends last week and Hannity last night:

In the video Hannity states that he would feel safer getting on an airplane if everyone had to go through a scanner because that would eliminate the chance of another panty bomber. So he is willing to be further inconvenienced for the perception of increased security.

Hey, Sean, that’s all you get from this scanning device idea — the perception of, not actual, increased security. Talk about the ultimate in PC. As MM is wont to say, “CRIKEY!!!”

When are you willing to understand that most of the people who fly on airplanes have no intention of causing anyone bodily harm and that to screen everyone equally is a complete waste of time and money. We should be focusing on people who fit a profile of those who have demonstrated a propensity to cause bodily harm. That doesn’t include you, Sean, or anyone’s grandmother.

And, Sean, since you are willing to be subjected to a full body scan, let me ask you this. When do you draw the line? If the next attempt at blowing up an airplane is done by someone who crammed explosives us his a$$, are you willing to be subjected to a full cavity search before boarding an airplane just so you can fall asleep and snore?

Enough of the PC already. It provides NOTHING in the way of security.
