Here comes another multi-billion-dollar Green Jobs boondoggle
Gird your loins.
The latest job numbers are out and they’re worse than expected.
Which means it’s time for another White House green jobs boondoggle campaign:
The White House pitched Friday’s jobless report as the start to stabilization while President Barack Obama planned to push for another $5 billion to help create much-needed jobs.
Obama planned an afternoon event to announce more government spending to create tens of thousands of green jobs as the nation is weighed down by an unemployment rate stuck at 10 percent. He also was expected to reiterate the administration’s call for an additional $5 billion in spending for clean energy manufacturing.
Last month, Vice President Joe Biden first proposed that expansion of the clean technology program, which would require Congress to act.
As I noted yesterday, “Green Jobs” really should be called “Purple Jobs” — for the SEIU and Big Labor beneficiaries of the enviro-slush fund.
A reminder of what the green jobs black hole cost Spain:
Every “green job” created with government money in Spain over the last eight years came at the cost of 2.2 regular jobs, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job, says a new study released this month. The study draws parallels with the green jobs programs of the Obama administration.
President Obama, in fact, has used Spain’s green initiative as a blueprint for how the United States should use federal funds to stimulate the economy. Obama’s economic stimulus package,which Congress passed in February, allocates billions of dollars to the green jobs industry.
But the author of the study, Dr. Gabriel Calzada, an economics professor at Juan Carlos University in Madrid, said the United States should expect results similar to those in Spain:
“Spain’s experience (cited by President Obama as a model) reveals with high confidence, by two different methods, that the U.S. should expect a loss of at least 2.2 jobs on average, or about 9 jobs lost for every 4 created, to which we have to add those jobs that non-subsidized investments with the same resources would have created,” wrote Calzada in his report: Study of the Effects on Employment of Public Aid to Renewable Energy Sources.

what the hell is a green job? at this point americans are looking for jobs which provide them with some green. carter 1 kept pumping this crap, solar and wind power. that was before 1980, yet 30 years later carter 2 is still pumping this pipe dream of the professorial class, and it still can’t operate effectively. if you want to be cold, in the dark, and without mobility, GO GREEN!

This is what happens when an administration is filled with public sector employees. None have any private sector experience. Jobs don’t grow on trees and can’t be printed like money. Bho has surrounded himself with people who are impressed with their own intelligence. True brilliance is obvious. The fact that these clowns have to continue to remind us of their billiance proves that they have none. It’s time for true action, which won’t happen with Bho et al.

I would rather have the stimulus paying for road and bridge improvements that can have a positive impact on the economy (both because of the pay to the workforce, as well as improved travel times, etc.) than I would these green jobs that are nearly always money losers and don’t benefit anyone but a few well-placed investor. The idea of a public good is lost with green job.
Any Federal stimulus dollars must be matched with state dollars, collected by increasing your taxes. I would rather they quit with this $h!t right now and we have an election.

If one had to waste $800 billion dollars, hiring white male contruction workers to fix the roads would be better than nothing. You’d at least have some better roads.
But as Robert Reichhhhhh recommended to Charlie Rangel, the stimulus had to avoid white male contruction workers.
Most of the stimulus spent so far, from my understanding, has been given to states running deficits so they don’t have to tighten their belts, ie, lay off useless SEIU and AFSCME union leeches.
Ahnold in California wants the money earned by hard working people in the US so Kahleefornya doesn’t have to trim its bloated state government.
The tragedy in all of this is that the obamanites wouldn’t know an innovation if it hit them in the face. Get rid of the taxes and regulations that punish business formation and get out of the way of the innovators and inventors. The problem is that all of these politicians are about power and control – and as a result they hate individual freedom.

NJ-Aviator – about a year ago I did some research to see if there were any green industry companies worth looking at for investment. Some professional info I received said there weren’t any at the time.
Yet, I keep seeing websites and blogs cheerleading for the green industry. So I blog back and ask, “Name one green industry company that makes a profit for its investors.” And not yet have I received a reply. Doesn’t mean none exist, but it sure silences the cheerleaders.
Highway jobs jobs are temporary jobs best handled by the State Highway Departments, or as Governor of New Mexico once said’What is orange and sleeps 4?

The decrepit state of highways is closely related to a state’s dependence on federal funds for maintenance. When that responsibility is handled by the State regardless of Federal involvement there is much more consistency. Check Michigan, the essense of too much dependence on ‘Large Central Budgeting’. Is there anything in the Constitution about Highway construction?
The first 6,000 miles of road in this country were privately owned and maintained.
And you won’t. They are all primarily subsidized by the US Government. Even Pickens was smart enough to pull his money out.
Sorry – Green industry company = a profit driven business whose primary function is to make, manufacture, resell, provide, or install products that substanially reduce energy consumption.

Yes, Wisconsin is one of the states who used stimulus $ to close the deficit gap so as not to lay off gov’t workers. The budget is still not balanced, even with $2.2B from the Feds. Gov. Doyle(D)WI will not be running for re-election. He is joining the other Dem rats leaving the sinking ship of American fiscal irresponsibility. “Kahleefornya” isn’t alone in bloated state government.

I was watching Glenn Beck’s show a few days ago, and he illustrated on his chalkboard the folly of “green jobs” by pointing out where they would really go: not to America, with its built-in obstacles in the form of EPA/DEQ/OSHA/labor unions/lawyers, but instead to China — where all they have to do is erect the factory, round up the child labor, and start rolling out the solar panels.
When 3/4 of our economy depends on nothing more than consumer spending, and when the only growth industry here is government, we’re past the point of no return on our way over the waterfall.
“Green jobs” fantasies notwithstanding, in 21st Century America the only thing we “manufacture” is Americans — and we import a lot of them, too.

Obama doesn’t care about jobs lost. He only counts jobs “created or saved”.
The original stimulus bill was supposed to create green jobs. How well did that work? Why should we set aside money for more of the same? It all seems to be going down a big green hole. When we stop subsidizing these green jobs won’t they disappear along with the money we spent?
That’s what McCain is saying today. But what did he say in 2008 when he was running against Obama and his words actually counted for something?

Someone remind me of the definition of insanity again….something about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
In just about every family I know, someone is out of work and it’s placing a hardship on everyone. Those unemployed are not on the public dole, they’re being supported by family or friends. Many are professionals and have seen their jobs either outsourced or lost to an H1-b holder. It’s criminal but we keep buying that crap from China and employing millions from or in India for IT work. If this isn’t a time to check ourselves I don’t know when that moment will come?
If Barry Soetoro aka Obama wanted to create jobs all he would have to do is allow oil drilling on all federal lands and open up the offshore oil leases that have been denied by the Federal Government.
No need to build useless wind mills that will have no impact on the job market.
If he was really serious he could put a moratorium on H1B visas and enforce the borders.

The libs love to emulate Europe, yet France uses nuclear big time and apparently that is a no-no. How is all this obstructionism working out for us, folks?
