SEIU “pulling out all the stops” for Coakley; Brown calls out her illegal alien advocacy

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 8, 2010 12:09 PM

I encouraged you last week to fight the SEIU/Demcare corruption and contribute to MA GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown’s campaign.

The election date — Jan. 19 — is rapidly approaching and the race has turned competitive thanks to grass-roots conservative pressure.

The NYTimes takes notice today. In a word, Democrats are “anxious:”

While Ms. Coakley kept a low profile over the holidays, Mr. Brown hammered her as soft on terrorists and as a “crusader” for abortion rights. He has played up his military credentials — he serves in the Army National Guard — and his opposition to the health care overhaul headed for a final vote in Congress. That, too, has unnerved Democrats, who cannot afford to lose a single vote on the embattled legislation.

Republicans are hoping that diminished support for President Obama and his party among independents could give Mr. Brown a shot at winning. About half of the state’s voters are not affiliated with a party.

“Scott’s done a great job of tapping into the economy as an issue and the fact that people aren’t happy with what’s going on in Washington,” said Charles Manning, a Republican strategist here. “When you couple that with the coronation campaign that Martha’s been trying to run, it’s really made a difference.”

Democrats dismiss such statements as wishful thinking whipped up by conservative commentators outside Massachusetts. Still, Mary Anne Marsh, a Democratic strategist, said Ms. Coakley erred in not campaigning more aggressively last month.

“By taking a low-profile approach, she invited more of a race than she would have had otherwise,” Ms. Marsh said. “Sometimes I wanted to say, ‘My God, woman, take it up a notch.’ ”

The SEIU continues to “pull out all the stops” to “get Martha elected.” While her Purple Army friends push for another massive illegal alien shamnesty, Scott Brown is calling attention to Coakley’s open-borders advocacy:

In a direct attack on his Democratic opponent in the U.S. Senate race, Republican state Sen. Scott Brown has filed a bill that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for people seeking action against employers for violating the state’s wage laws.

As attorney general, Martha Coakley has aggressively enforced laws protecting workers’ wages. Before the campaign, her office often announced settlements with companies she sued for allegedly violating prevailing wage laws or avoiding payroll taxes. Coakley represented everyone, including illegal immigrants.

Her opponent, Scott Brown, said that encourages people who are here illegally.

“As a top law enforcement official, her No. 1 job is to enforce the laws of the state and to protect citizens here legally and the people who are here with the appropriate immigration status,” Brown said during a telephone interview.

Coakley’s “basking” in left-wing money.

Fight Coakley and her Big Labor/Demcare corruption/Open Borders bakers here.

Arsenio Steele is an absolute joke.

He is prancing around the country with this “Yo, what up dog!” message while lining his pockets with speaker fees and totally ignoring his real responsibilities.

Knowing he has wasted too much money he is now hedging the party’s chances to give himself cover. (Why didn’t Hannity call him on that on his show?)

Do we really need some Hollywood Oreo hustler controlling the campaign dollars at this time?

Arsenio is a show pony and EVERYTHING that we DON’T need right now. He is going to waste a chance for a comeback which the country cannot survive without.

His Democrat opponent is a Reid/Pelosi rubber stamper. Her support is only lukewarm while Brown’s is red hot – imagine who will get to the polls if it snows on Jan 19th!

People need to see that this race is far from a lost cause: there is only a 2% difference between Brown and the Democrat among people who are most likely to vote, and this has a 4% margin of error – which means BROWN COULD ALREADY BE AHEAD!

Let’s keep up the momentum and on January 19th we will TAKE AWAY HARRY REID’S MAJORITY!

People and organizations ultimately try to achieve success through one of two basic strategies:

    1) Try to win
    2) Try to not lose

Why are things looking up for Republicans now? Have they done anything to try to win by putting forward positive ideas, returning to their conservative base?

No, they have sat passively and let the Democrats self-destruct. They have done nothing that might cause them to lose.

That is their mindset. It is not in their DNA to challenge a “safe” Democrat seat, even though gaining that seat would cause a political earthquake and derail the Senate Democrats for the remainder of 2010.

“Carpe Diem” is unknown to them.

Many of us principled pragmatists (no, that is not internally contradictory) are sympathetic to the idea of not wanting to ‘waste’ dollars on races that ‘cannot be won.’

But you have to fight the fights your contributors want you to fight, or they will stop contributing.

So the only question remaining is if the current GOP ‘leadership’ is incredibly incompetent or purposefully suicidal.

If their problem is incompetence, then perhaps they should get out of the way. Set up a list of all of the races on the GOP website (including GOP primary contests), and let contributors pick which candidates they want their money to go to.

They can even include the RNC’s recommendations for contributors. But let the contributors decide.

I’d bet if they did that, contributions ‘to the GOP’ would massively increase.

He seems to be unable to articulate a message other than reducing the size of government and listening to what the people are saying. Good ideas, but we’ve heard this before and have no reason to believe any of it will happen as the government continues to grow under Dems and Repubs alike. I want pledges to balance the budget, no earmarks, eliminate specific programs, entitlement reform etc… followed by quick action if they can wrest control from the Socialists, not vague proposals, compromises, and reaching across the aisle.

If he doesn’t get it he best get out of the way because either these problems will be solved by aggressive action soon or we are doomed to rapid decline. Navel gazers are going to be steamrolled by one side or the other.

It would be OUTRAGEOUS if the Democrats tried to delay the certification of the election!

I completely agree with Scott Brown’s response to Paul Kirk’s comment.

“This is a stunning admission by Paul Kirk and the Beacon Hill political machine,” said Brown in a statement. “Paul Kirk appears to be suggesting that he, Deval Patrick, and (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid intend to stall the election certification until the health care bill is rammed through Congress, even if that means defying the will of the people of Massachusetts. As we’ve already seen from the backroom deals and kickbacks cut by the Democrats in Washington, they intend to do anything and everything to pass their controversial health care plan. But threatening to ignore the results of a free election and steal this Senate vote from the people of Massachusetts takes their schemes to a whole new level. Martha Coakley should immediately disavow this threat from one of her campaign’s leading supporters.”

We all need to be aware of this potential Democrat plan so we can shame them into giving up this plan.

On the positive side, it is a good sign that the Democrats really are worried that Scott Brown is going to win this election!

I caught Brown on Hannity last night he was too stiff and he wouldn’t say anything very personal about himself, he kept to his talking points.

I remember both Mitt Romney and Chris Christie when they went on Imus In The Morning. They were both engaging and relatable they both were self depreciating.

I am an Independent who didn’t vote for Barack H Obama the last election. Why? I couldn’t relate to the Democrat candidate. The only time I could relate to Obama as another human being was when he came out and told the press that candidates families spouse and children were off limits. That was it and it wasn’t enough.

Obama used this phrase Hope & Change and saturated the media with it. Obama than behaved like a Movie Projection screen, where anyone could project what Hope & Change meant to them.

So what is Brown’s strategy to connect with “ALL” the voters? One thing of a personal nature that he relayed to Hannity was that he was a Lt Col in the Reserves. This country is at War this is something he should elaborate on his “Experience” in the Military.

This is Mitt Romney on Imus In The Morning,
Mitt was really relaxed, charming and engaging.

Here is Chris Christie same thing.

The election is 10 days from now it’s time for a Charm Offensive. Given that Coakley is kind of a sad sack – brown bird, it wouldn’t take much:) Scott Brown needs to show some personality not just regurgitate talking points.

I like the slogan “What Can Brown Do For You” play off of UPS. That’s already making it about his constituency not himself.

Brown should make a point of telling the electorate What He Can Deliver as Senator for Massachusetts…just like UPS GRIN.

Coakley is a horrible (read it: typical for MA) candidate for Senate.

The fact that she is endorsed by the Kennedy’s is reason enough to deny her the seat.

She has more baggage than you could believe, including the Amirault debacle, refusing to prosecute a child rapist who was a cop and more.

Gutless, rubberstamping rumpswab for Reid would be a nice summation of her sentorial potential.

I was just driving around the Merrimack valley north of Boston and the enthusiasm for brown is just AMAZING! He can indeed win and if all you people all over the country send in your support by your contributions. After all, he will be the 41st US Senator who can SHUT DOWN healthcare and other debacles sponsored by Harry.

    For anyone still reading:

Support looks quite strong here. Made calls today from Littleton, just a bit west of you, mdt. It got to the point where volunteers were on the bench, waiting for an open phone.

Coming on Monday: Scott Brown’s money-bomb.

    Thanks everyone!
