RINO-sore: Crist loses home county straw poll to Rubio

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 11, 2010 10:26 PM

Roasted

Ouch. Think he gets the message yet?

Via Miami Herald/AP:

Republican activists in Gov. Charlie Crist’s home county voted 106-54 to support former House Speaker Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate primary.

Monday night’s straw poll was the 11th conducted by a county Republican committee and Rubio has won them all.

The fact that Crist lost in Pinellas County, which he represented in the state Senate and where he’s lived nearly all his life, can’t be a good sign for Crist.

Both Crist and the AP story downplay the win as “symbolic” and non-representative. Crist, of course, would be saying just the opposite had the numbers been reversed.

How about a rejected GOP solicitation form of the day? Reader Scot in Minnesota sent this one in last week:

***

RedState’s Erik Erickson predicts Crist will drop out: “‘Mene Mene Tekel Parsin’…The writing’s on the wall.”

With “annointed” GOP nominees like Crist and Scazzafava getting loads of RNC campaign funds the GOP should not be wondering why fundraising is so low. From everyone I talk to it is not that they are not going to donate campaign funds; instead, they will donate it directly to their conservatvie candidiate of choice.

If the GOP will not listen when we tell them “no more RINO’s” with our voices then we will just continue to tell them with our wallets.

The difference with people like Crist is their actions and words are not the same.

    Remember “It’s the economy stupid?”

Well, for us it all about integrity. Do not say you support the platform and then expand the deficit, government, and reduce our liberty.

So sadly true. You think they couldn’t be so stupid to not know, but then one of them ( like Steele) gets on a talk show and opens their mouths and out pops Rino-speak.

Will they ever learn? I think these next few years through 2012 might reveal the truth.

So Why Are You All Supporting Scott Brown?

A state Senator serving during Romney’s administration supporting and voting for billions in additional spending, millions of dollars in fee hikes, and the utterly broken MassCare system known as RomneyCare.

A man who voted for a property tax hike in his town of Wrentham, purposely overriding proposition 2 ½ designed to keep property taxes limited.

A man who went on air to publicly speak out against ending the state income tax on the 2008 ballot and returning 12 billion dollars back into the pockets of Massachusetts citizens. Claiming that depriving 12 billion from the State coffers is reckless, despite knowing full well that the state spent almost 49 billion in 2008!

A man who proudly speaks of his involvement in RomneyCare, a plan widely endorsed by both Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

I realize that Brown might not be the most conservative candidate. And I realize that you are a purist. I too want the RINO’s gone. HOWEVER, we need to choose when to step up and when to back off. This is one of those times. We need a republican win in one of the bluest states in the Union. Brown is possibly that man. He is a good candidate. Is he perfect??? Of course not. If you wait for perfection, the storm troopers are going to march right over your dead body. I am serious. If Brown wins, and doesn’t represent us well, he can be voted out. But if Coakley wins, we are toast. Why don’t you just back off a bit? Save that rightous fervor for times when it will really do some good.

In a weird sort of way. I was glad Obama won the election because I knew his “fundamental change” would bring the US to her knees and in the end, bring about the true change we need. Back to freedom, the basics, conservatism etc. A vote for McCain would just prolong this change with a death from thousand cuts. Still, I could not bring myself to vote for him. The Brown vote is a different kind of vote. We are on our knees now and need to start rebuilding our country. To replace Kennedy with evan a Rino is a huge step forward.

If Brown is elected, we did it. Not the Republican Party, though I’m sure they’ll happily try to steal the credit. They left him hanging out to dry before we picked up the slack. If he doesn’t want to lose his seat, because he will need our help to retain it, he’d better think before becoming the next Snowe.

The National leadership does not have to be replaced. It can be rendered irrelevant. The RNC, NRSC and NRCC are already suffering funding shortages, and their endorsements are meaningless or worse. The grassroots, however, are on the rise. We provide manpower, money, and votes they can’t.

If the trend continues, the committees will become virtually ceremonial. The RINOs will have no help at all, and we will be the ones effectively making the candidate decisions without them. They will become harmless idiots.
