A Democrat takes on Chicago’s culture of corruption. Really.

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 12, 2010 12:43 PM

This guy better watch his back. Via John Kass at the Chicago Tribune:

Political corruption is finally a real issue in this corrupt state, because it’s led Illinois to financial ruin and now almost every candidate running for something has an anti-corruption message.

Some promise transparency. Others vow to serve only one term. A few candidates — particularly the smooth, buttoned-down consummate political insiders — have declared themselves to be complete outsiders and expect voters to believe it.

There is one candidate who not only talks about corruption. He has actually done something about it, but he’s not getting much ink.

David Hoffman, running for the U.S. Senate in the Democratic primary, is the former federal prosecutor who investigated sleaze as the city’s inspector general, until he committed a series of cardinal sins as far as Mayor Richard Daley was concerned.

The sins? He did his job.

“The culture of corruption runs throughout Chicago’s history, one hand washing the other,” said Hoffman in an interview last week. “It’s not about serving the public. But it is all about maintaining and controlling power.”

“It’s not about serving the public. But it is all about maintaining and controlling power.”

Exactly.

    Likely either a DINO – ?SINO?;
or, if he is actually serious about combatting corruption, and considers himself a socialist…well, perhaps he then also believes in the Easter Bunny, unicorns, the tooth fairy, and moderate muslims.

    Good one!

Reminds me of Joseph Cotten’s line in “Citizen Kane”:

Charles Foster Kane: “You long-faced, overdressed anarchist.”

Jed Leland: “I am not overdressed.”

So did Botox Nancy and that Has no Nego dialect & is light skinned guy.

As David Hoffman is from the same city as Miss Hillary, President Obama, Jesse Jackson and all kinds of Daleys I’ll keep my distance. I guess you have to be a Democrat to do well in Chicago but then you had to be a Communist to do well in the USSR; it is not a defense.

Did the DNC get an EPA waiver for those cement overshoes dumped in the lake?

Granite…I’m starting to think that we either have been infiltrated with trolls who are making disgusting comments, or our censors are getting tougher. I hope it is the troll option. I would hate to think our free expression is being stifled too much!

I’ve been wondering the same thing. It’s not like our resident evangelical atheist to stay silent this long. Last I heard of him, he was trying to break the record for the longest thread. Either he went so far he couldn’t find his way back, or he finds conversing with himself much more interesting than talking to the rest of us.
