Harry-Kiri! Pollster moves Nevada Senate race to “Lean Takeover”

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 12, 2010 06:23 PM

As a dark-skinned American, let me say in the most urban dialect I can muster: Awwww, yeaaaaah!

Via the Rothenberg Political Report, Harry-Kiri is here:

New polling confirms that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) is mired near 40% in general election ballot tests against all potential opponents, even those voters know nothing about. It will be extremely difficult for him to pull out a win, as Sens. Rick Santorum (R-PA) and John Sununu (R-NH), and more recently New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D), found out.

Reid’s most recent controversial comments don’t help because they keep the story focused on him, rather than on his opponents. Given Reid’s current standing with voters, he should be viewed as a slight underdog for reelection, which is why we are moving this race from Toss-up to Lean Takeover for the GOP.

That “African Americans for Reid” event should be quite a doozy, eh?

Also, Michelle, you are not dark-skinned, except maybe in the summer with a tan.

The Reid event has been scheduled for some time, though the title is a little bit disconcerting. There is a history of self identification in the groups we establish. It is unfortunate that a term used to identify race is used.

We have come a long way, but still have further to go.

Making it an issue to say it isn’t an issue can mean only one thing… it’s an issue. And a big one at that. Maybe he can speak to them in a negro dialect.

This dingy will have to spend gobs of money to the seiu and the dead to see he is re-elected. I hope those in Nevada voting will give this scum bag the boot! His new ‘look’ as the queen of the house has done almost every month will not help. A face that is a fraud will not be helped by a new look.

You mean, like the NAACP, the Black Caucus, the United Negro Fund, etc.? Their racist groups are everywhere. Even Wright’s church is a “Black Church”, ministering to the “Black community”. Oh, no racism there! According to Rush, the correct name of this group is “Light-Skinned Negros with no Negro Dialect for Reid”. I think that sounds so much better.

Reid doesn’t seem concerned about the upcoming election. Perhaps he knows it is in his pocket. We need to watch this one very closely…do not let them steal it!!!

My father in-law, like me, is 100% Mediterranean.

And in the summer, he is easily darker than at least half of “black” folks.

    ?White?
    ?Black?
    ?Brown?
    ??Red-Yellow??

I think we are, as Oprah said years ago, all merely different shades of tan.

What do you mean “we”? Speak for yourself. You don’t know enough about any of the rest of us to judge. Of course, you might be referring to yourself and your liberal Democrat friends and colleagues, in which case I guess it takes one to know one.

I’m just a “burn-and-peel” Celt. Made sure my kids got some Chinese and Hawaiian blood, though.

Mr. Reid is darker than all of us, if you look at his heart.

As a Minnesotan in January…I look like Casper (and feel like him too!!) We are supposed to have a January thaw later this week…up over freezing. I will be out on the front porch with my aluminum tanning tent. And speaking of color…in January, I crave color so much! Yellow, orange, Red!! So I get out my scrapbook materials and start working on the garden pages. It helps a lot!!

Another interesting side note to this. I notice that in the post from 9:00 this morning, next week’s MA Senate race is listed as shifting from Safe Dem to Clear Dem Advantage. As of 6:30 this evening, it has been shifted again to Narrow Dem Advantage.

The movement is going in the Right direction, which is indeed the right direction. ;)

As for Harry, I’m surprised it took them this long. I’ve always considered this even more likely to flip than the Delaware open seat.

I bet if Reid lost his re-election bid, he will try to tie it up in the courts on some trumped-up appeal or perceived fraud in the voting. Get some friendly judge to overturn everything and make him Senator again. It wouldn’t surprise me.

    haha ‘awww yeah!’

That’s what’s so crazy about the Reid flap. It’s a flap because he apologized. He apologized because he thought he did something wrong.

The term ‘Negro’ isn’t offensive or racist. It’s the concept of ‘Negro dialect’ that is the kicker.

He’s implying that you have to talk a certain way. So if you have an accent, Americans won’t vote for you according to Harry. The Gov of Californeeya did OK for himself. I’m also quite certain that there are plenty of people with hispanic accents in the hispanic caucus as well.

I know for certain that when people hear a southern drawl it makes you assume their IQ is about 25 points lower than it is. Many blacks have a southern drawl and they talk just like me.

But his focus on the exterior and superficial things as though they matter. I don’t care what the person looks like or how thick an accent or what religion they are. . . if they are saying the right thing, that should be good enough.

    ‘Negro Dialect’. really?
