Blundermania: Dems attack Scott Brown’s “greed” using World Trade Center; Update: It’s official. Obama to Mass. on Sunday

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 15, 2010 12:51 PM

Scroll for updates…

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee decided to “help” flailing Mass. Senate candidate Martha Coakley with a hard-hitting ad attacking GOP challenger Scott Brown’s opposition to the White House’s Cover Tim Geithner’s A** Tax and other illusions of financial reform.

Except that they got so carried away with the class warfare rhetoric they Photoshopped Brown in front of the World Trade Center, which, um, was destroyed by jihadists who share the same view of American “greed” as the DSCC does.

Ben Smith at Politico has the scoop and reports that the DSCC is pulling the ad.

Please keep “helping,” DSCC!

Between the DSCC and Coakley’s tongue, can it get much worse?

Kyle Sellers quips: “Let’s give DSCC some credit-they’re getting really good at quickly removing their offensive YouTube videos.”

Indeed.

Here’s the ad via Mary Katharine Ham:

***

On a related note, maybe I’ll get my Reverse Midas Touch wish after all:

The White House has shown increasing alarm about the race, with Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel placing calls to top Massachusetts Democrats to assess Coakley’s chances and weigh the costs and benefits of a potential Obama visit.

***

Update: Dream come true…

President Obama will be heading to Massachusetts to campaign for Martha Coakley this Sunday, according to two senior sources informed of the president’s decision, a last-minute effort to give the Democrat a needed boost in the Senate race.

It’s a sign that Democrats are deeply worried about Coakley’s prospects and the party’s 60-seat majority, and believe the president can help turn out the Democratic vote in a state where he’s viewed favorably.

WH spokesman Robert Gibbs made the announcement this afternoon.

Please do for Coakley what you did for Chicago’s Olympic bid.

OT, but I am sure this crowd will appreciate this:

The usual gang of Brzezinski, co-host Joe Scarborough, and regular guest Pat Buchanan – also joined this morning by Mika’s father Zbigniew Brzezinski – turned their attention to an excerpt from Sarah Palin’s appearance on the Glenn Beck program last night, during which Palin hesitated to provide a specific single name after being asked by Beck who her favorite founder is, eventually settling on Washington.

“Wow, uuummm… Wow, I just need to, let me just process, okay,” Brzezinski remarked in response to the clip. Later Buchanan chimed in, “I would’ve gone with Hamilton, myself, Joe.” Shortly thereafter Brzezinski said from off-camera, “Me, Linc-, Lincoln, but okay.” Sarcastic joke? Or startling lack of elementary knowledge of American history? Hard to tell…

Massachusetts law does not have any provision for a mandatory recount and the loser can only be granted one, after request, if they appear to be within .5% of the winner.

So it is with asking the false messiah to help you out today: Michelle is right about the “reverse Midas touch” — all the false promise of 2008 has worn off, and now it’s all turning to sh*t.

And even if Brown doesn’t win, this special election will be a second, larger-caliber warning shot across the donks’ bow: New Jersey and Virginia were the first .50 cal shot, Massachusetts will be the 5-inch gun … and if the donks keep going the way they are, the voters’ 16-inch round this November won’t be aimed across the bow, but amidships.

They need to make a law that ballot boxes are not allowed to be stored in car trunks – only open-air flat-bed trucks with strobe lights attached. And if any boxes are “found” later, then the person responsible needs to go to jail and never be allowed to participate in the back-end voter process ever again.

    Its time for personal responsibility.

I’m guessing your question is rhetorical, Ed. We all know who pays [and pays, and pays...], even if the law says that the Democrats should pay out of their campaign war-chest.

Shortly thereafter Brzezinski said from off-camera, “Me, Linc-, Lincoln, but okay.”

Are we sure she wasn’t going to say Marx . . . Karl, Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo, Richard or Skid??!! She’s an Andrea Mitchell in training. Another 50 gal drum of Botox and she’ll be an adequate substitute for the dirty mop with a microphone. I’d love to see Joe Scarborough and F. Chuck Todd do that Morning Joe show (sponsored by Starbucks) from a small cage with a hungry lion.

Guliani and Brown were in the North End (that’s the Italian section), literally on the sidewalks talking to voters, anyone could have gone and the pics I saw on facebook showed a rather large crowd. Martha on the other hand is holed up in a 5 star luxury hotel surrounded by big time donors from Boston who are there primarily to see Bill Clinton. I assume the Obama “rally” will be the same (By the way Obama is coming on Sunday, during football playoffs, the day before a monday holiday) Somehow I don’t think Martha’s events are going to energize the everyman. We might see clips of Obama in Boston on the 6pm news, but this wil hardly give the bump she needs.

Some say changing the corruption in Washington and MA is a lost cause………..Scott Brown decided to prove them wrong!..Watch and ..PASS IT ON!!!! Here he is reading Martha Coakleys attack ads filled with lies!

This clip from Mr Smith goes to Washington is a movie from 1939…and watching it feels like you are watching the current congress! (As a plus Jimmy Stewart is compelling and proves he was one of the best actors ever.) Both depressing and inspiring at the same time.

Depressing because although made in 1939 it seems as though nothing ever changes.

Inspiring because it shows how ONE man can affect a change…kinda like that one man on the Detroit flight who tackled the terrorist trying to blow up his plane, or like Scott Brown!
I recommend everyone rent this movie. It is still compelling today.

PS the beginning made me think of the machinations behind filling Ted Kennedys seat ( or throne!), as the powers that be decide who will take the seat and impose their own selfish agendas.

Maybe Comrade Obama (PBUH) has stepped in it big time. His “help” for Mizz Coakley may be the “kiss of death” for her. But The One must think she will win–with his help–or He would not risk it.
    ***
I hope the SARAH’CUDA can put a “bear trap” out for him. How about a surprise SARAH PALIN APPEARANCE outside his event–with a challenge for an impromptu MANO A MANO debate? With Fox News TV recording it all as The Messiah stammers and tries to spin His way out of it. Or stumbles through every question from her!
    ***
Also–cue the TEA PARTY–lots of NOBAMA CARE signs, some REMEMBER 9/11, and some TRIBUNALS FOR TERRORISTS–NOT TRIALS. A few NO SHAMNESTY signs too. The Anointed One has been hiding from the real press for the last 6 months–but He will be “off the base” for a little. Pick him off Red Sox style and hand him some bad press and a ticket back to D.C. I think He is vulnerable now–I would stand there with my sign if I lived nearby. Bring it on!

Except that they got so carried away with the class warfare rhetoric they Photoshopped Brown in front of the World Trade Center, which, um, was destroyed by jihadists who share the same view of American “greed” as the DSCC does.

Michelle is absolutely correct to point out that the Democratic Socialist Communists and the Jihadists share a worldview about American “greed”. And seeing the World Trade Centers as symbols of that “greed” tells you everything you need to know about why the Jihadists selected the WTCs as two of their targets.

I think there is more of a connection between the two groups than most people care to believe.
