ClimateGate update: All about the Mann

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 15, 2010 02:27 PM

Three items for you about Michael Mann, ClimateGate bully/eco-con artist…

1) First, watch the news report from Pennsylvania — where Mann is under investigation by Penn State:

Background from the Commonwealth Foundation. They’ve called for an independent investigation and expose Penn State’s conflicts of interests in the matter.

2) The Foundry flags Mann’s $514,000 stimulus windfall (via Mindy Belz at World Magazine).

3) The Philly Inquirer has a sympathetic profile of Mann. This American Thinker parody of Mann’s CYA is far more enlightening.

As Rush pointed out this grant shows the stimulus money is jsut an Obama slush fund for use by his cronies.

since when did dems care how much of other peoples money gets spent on their cronies. bribery has long been a tried and true democrat policy. from beer money in bars, walking around money in ghettos, grant money in academia, to dept of education money for teachers unions, paying off constituencies is part of the political landscape. democrats do it best because the media gives them a pass.

They all need to be tried for fraud. Just imagine if you petitioned the gov’t for a million dollars to perform a service that you never performed, yet took the money. And lied about what you were doing.

You’d be in jail. Which is where these people, Mann included for sure, should be. Once they are behind bars, the politicians need to be locked up as well.

We are being fleeced by these charlatans.

Go to Dr. Michael Crichton’s website and read the text of his speeches, especially this one.

He has long held that politics has no place in science. Politics is consensus, science is reproducible results. They are NOT compatible with one another.

You have nothing to be embarrassed about. At least Penn State is investigating this fraud. When most of us think of Penn State we think of Paqterno, not Mann. You’re good.

I can’t even begin to say how much I disdain anyone corrupting science and fact. This is worst than bank robbery or Wall Street scams because these “eco” bastards were out to willfully steer the economic coursesf whole nations for their green “beliefs.” Throw them in jail for fifty years. You’d expect no less from someone who’d swindle you out of a home.

just fyi, you have to understand grant writing in an academic setting, as opposed to writing a grant for a non-profit or as a business endeavor. Most of the money goes to the school, not the researcher. (it could be that PennState has a special agreement with Prof Mann) Usually there is a particular person or department withing a university who specializes in grant writing. When you have a person that that has the talent to write successful grants and can bring home the gravy, you dont want to let them ever leave.

One of the secrets is that you never really quite get the full answer to what you are researching, which means you always need another grant so that you can research more

The professor is already a state employee so they are not usually permitted to make an additional income from their grants. The people that actually do the bulk of the work/research are the grad students and they are paid via a work-study or small stipend.

and @Dimsdale/@bansharia, we havent been able to hit pledges since the 80′s whether we liked it or not lol

Penn State grads need to let the university know that they’d better be very careful about risking its reputation with Mann.

If they white wash something which has already been determined to be a fraud, then there’s going to be trouble for the Penn State brand.
