Danny Glover: The Left’s Pat Robertson

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 15, 2010 12:07 PM

What is it about natural disasters that brings out so much stupid on both sides of the political aisle?

Haitians are suffering. We should debate how best to help them in the short and long term.

But how about a ceasefire on this kind of crap, via Tim Blair:

“Actor Danny Glover believes that the Haitian earthquake was caused by climate change and global warming…”When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?”

We already know the answer, but I’ll ask, anyway: Will Valerie Jarrett be as “speechless” over Glover’s fulminations as she was over Pat Robertson’s?

***

Wesley J. Smith weighs in at First Things: “Gaia has attacked people who have no impact on global warming because of Copenhagen? Good grief. Robertson and Glover have a lot in common, despite their worshipping different deities.”

***

The Anchoress continues her thorough coverage of the Haiti earthquake aftermath. Read her latest heart-breaking round-up and relief links round-up here.

I have nothing but pity for Danny Glover, who is obviously insane and doesn’t have people around him who care enough about him to get him any help. I guess being famous means that no one cares enough about you to tell you to STFU, no matter how foolish you make yourself look in public. It’s a damn shame.

My wife and I were talking yesterday about the recent spate of earthquakes.

She brought up the speculation that the removal of natural resources (oil, gas, coal, gold etc etc) could be changing the balance of pressure on the various plates and causing the recent increase in earthquakes.

Then she said, “I better not say that too loud, some enviro-nut could latch onto that argument and start a whole new AGW movement.”

Sounds like Danny is head that way.

Stuff like what Robertson and Glover say from time to time happens becasue they routinely fall into the trap of claiming they can know the ‘mind’ of God (or know the ‘mind’ of the their favorrite deity), and claim their interpretation is valid.

For a human to be able to understand the ‘mind’ of God is a lot like expecting amoebas to understand you with absolute completeness and clarity…I just don’t buy that unless he is speaking to ALL the same way. Then we know for sure what is being communicated.

They need to stick to ‘how should you/we behave’ than they should prognostication.

From Danny Glover and the Hollyweirds I expect little. That Pat Robertson claims to represent the Christian Church is shameful-that Christians don’t call him on these more stupid statements is worse. Yes paganism-voodoo-is rampant in Haiti. Paganism is rising in Europe, Islam is basically pagan. Where were the earthquakes?

Pat Robertson claimed New Orleans got hit by Kitrina because of Ellen DeGenerate/Degeneres which ever. How did San Francisco get a bye? Perhaps the man needs to do some more reading

I did a little research and there is at least some credibility, although disputable, to what Robertson said about Haiti being cursed as a result of a prayer by slaves preceding a Vodou slave revolt. I would also point out that Robertson finished his statement by saying that his intentions were to help the Haitian people as much as possible. It is typical of the left and the anti-Christian media to take things out of context, and that is certainly what has happened here.

As far as Glover is concerned, he has no historical or scientific basis for connecting his global warming theory to such an earthquake, tsunami or blizzard. His comments were preposterous.

It’s so darn easy to manipulate conservatives. Find some stream-of-consciousness quote by Pat Robertson (or Trent Lott or Rush, etc.), take it out of context and soon conservatives will be showing their “fairness” by bashing their own supporters. Meanwhile, leftists keep a united front no matter how strange the quotes might be (skin-shade, fisting, etc.) from their followers. Maybe if we stopped eating our own and spent a little more time fighting the real enemy we’d get somewhere.

Yeah, it’s a shame. And they’re all skilled actors and have made good movies. To be able to watch any new movies at all, I have to overlook the politics of the actors, directors, etc. This only works to a point. Jane Fonda crossed that line decades ago. Glover crosses the line and it is not possible for me to enjoy a film with him in it. Penn is pretty close but not quite as bad as Fonda or Glover, yet.

The statements made by both Glover and Robertson lack intellectual rigor. Though the question is about consistentcy, and will Jarret take Glover to task, as well?

Everyone has their own agenda. Having posted a blog entry only after Glover’s silly statement and not after Robertson’s silly statement demonstrates that Jarret might not be alone in her lack of consistentcy.
