    So I’m going to have to be a big NO on the Brown to follow Obama.

    Brown is the way to go but will the RNC write a self-serving message for him or can he speak from a new anti-incumbent, Tea Party narrative that reinforces the national message of his victory? To have him merely mouth the usual RNC boilerplate “big tent”, anti-Democrat babble would be very deflating. The message matters at least as much as the messenger in this case.

    If Brown isn’t allowed to give the correct message, then it should be Jim DeMint who will not be deterred from the Tea Party message. I expect Brown to get the nod but I will be cringing.

    It seems that Scott Brown might think that the template for national health ‘care’ is somehow embodied in the MA health care reform which FORCES participation.

    The Tea Party activists must insist on LIBERTY FIRST. Mitt Rommney ignored my liberty when he signed the law we have now so if Scott Brown thinks he now has some ‘mandate’ to keep pushing for national health care but just in a another direction – somebody please SET HIM STRAIGHT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

    Not to be a party pooper, but Scott Brown is not the best choice.
    Ed Morrissey makes several good points:

    People have suggested and even demanded that Scott Brown give the State of the Union response next week on behalf of the Republican Party. He would no doubt make a compelling speech, but he would undermine the sense of independence that he carefully cultivated during his short campaign. Brown made it clear in his victory speech that he would not forget that…

    He only mentioned the word “Republican” once, in a pledge to work with both Democrats and Republicans in Washington. Brown’s smart; he knows his audience and his state, and he isn’t likely to make himself the national face of the GOP in his first week on the job.

    I would be pleased to see any of the following people give the response:

    Jim DeMint, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Tom Coburn, Rush Limbaugh (he is “the voice of the Republican Party, right liberals?), Joe Wilson (I’d love to see liberal heads explode as Wilson points out every lie in Obama’s SOTU speech!)
