Who should give the GOP response to Obama’s State of the Union address?
President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address on January 27 at 9pm Eastern before a joint session of Congress.
I think it’s obvious who should deliver the response for Republicans:
Scott Brown.

Whether he wins or loses tonight, Brown has tapped into a unifying center-right-indie coalition that has given voice to a rising tide of anger, frustration, and disgust with business as usual in corruptocrat-infested Washington.
Who better to respond to Obama’s desperate push to salvage Demcare and and to cram a new pile on new debt-exploding initiatives down our throats?

Excellent idea, Michelle. I was going to say, “Scott Brown” but you beat me to it.
Kudos (and GMTA)!!
anyone who can shout ‘You lie!’
Why “dignify” the lies with a response?
My first thought was Joe “I told you so” Wilson.
But Brown would be a good choice, too.
@2 +1
Voting (from Florida, land of the pythons) for Scott Brown!
My #1 choice would be the Scott “Heard ‘Round the World” Brown.
51% of the American Electorate is currently tied for #2.
Paul Ryan
Rush, Beck, Hannity, Malkin or Brown. I could live with any of them
Michael Steele!
Relax. It’s a joke. Brown is a great idea!
Personally, I prefer McDonnell of Virginia as a good choice. I’m not sure of Brown yet.
Wilson AND Brown
George W Bush since every other line in speech will be attacking him. Kidding (about him giving the rebuttal not about the attacks).
Scott Brown would be the best choice.
J.C. Watts
Actually, It should be Tom Coburn.
Is Brown really ready to be the spokesperson for the national party? I remember rising star Bobby Jindal’s disappointing performance. Is Brown polished enough to make a good impression on those that don’t yet know him? And will the beltway boys want to keep the freshman in check to protect thier futures?
NO! We’ve already determined he’s a big government Republican. He MIGHT represent MA. Can’t we reward a conservative that has been fighting for a long time? He may only serve for 2 years.
How about DeMint? or Kyl? I mean why put someone who doesn’t have experience and doesn’t know a lot of the current national politics of the day up like that.
It will be amazing if he wins, no doubt. But don’t put him on a pedestal because of the unique situation he finds himself in.
So I’m going to have to be a big NO on the Brown to follow Obama.
I’m with Michelle on this one, Scott Brown should give the response.
Jim DeMint would be a good choice.
Sarah, of course.
John Kerry would be a nice choice. It would allow him the chance to say, “I was for Scott Brown after I was against him.”
If Sarah is busy, Michelle Bachman.
I totally agree with Scott Brown delivering the GOP response.
Make it happen!
That would be Republican Scott Brown, right Marsha?
Oh, and he should do it from the seat of his pick-up truck.
dittos … SCOTT BROWN!!!
It has to be someone who symbolizes a new direction. Although it would help to remind America that Joe Wilson was right, he has proven to be too weak of a politician to matter.
Brown is the way to go but will the RNC write a self-serving message for him or can he speak from a new anti-incumbent, Tea Party narrative that reinforces the national message of his victory? To have him merely mouth the usual RNC boilerplate “big tent”, anti-Democrat babble would be very deflating. The message matters at least as much as the messenger in this case.
If Brown isn’t allowed to give the correct message, then it should be Jim DeMint who will not be deterred from the Tea Party message. I expect Brown to get the nod but I will be cringing.
Rep Cantor of VA. It has to be someone in leadership.
Someone was kidding about it. But I’d really like to see President George W. Bush give the rebuttal. It would somehow be both fitting and just that the person being blamed for everything whether he did it or not probably including the various TOTUS glitches and the fact that da One can’t speak without a script and a lot of practice.
I’d like to do it myself. It will be the people’s voice. Repubs are politicians. They can’t tell it like it is. TV personalities can’t seem to get it exactly right either. The only people who seem to have their fingers on the pulse are the “nobodies” that I’ve heard at local tea party rallies.
The man who backed RomneyCare, the precursor to ObamaCare? Huh?
I second Michele Bachmann.
*If Scott Brown pulls it out tonight, he would be an excellent choice for the response; He would at the very least speak for the people, something we have never gotten from P-BO!
*But the dark side has whispered to me that it will be John McCain; Please make those voices go away!
My list would be Lee Elder, Walter Williams , or Michael Massie. Just to show the the Black community, that there are far far better choices to be made in Government, than just reflexively voting the big D, because of a promised handout!
Dick Cheney should give the ‘I told you so’ SOTU response.
Oh by the way, I voted and while not packed, my precinct was doing a brisk business. Again I tried to show the old biddy behind the table my ID, but couldn’t get her to look at it. She said “Oh that’s alright Dear.” Waving me on. I tried again but she was having none of it. I find it all very frustrating to the point I wanted to grab a fisful of blue hair and slam her head down onto the table and yell “Look at it! Just frickin look at it!” But that would be wrong. (sigh)
Yep, someone more conservative than Scott Brown…..Tom Coburn would be good.
Only two viable options available:
Rush Limbaugh
Sarah Palin
Anything to keep their accusations of the “wacky Republicans” in the lime light. Sometimes they need a little help looking like idiots.
Scott Brown, Sarah Palin, or Joe Wilson.
I second this logic.
I never understood how people who profess to finding slavery so abhorrent can vote themselves into a permanent dependency on someone else to provide for them.
Glad I didn’t eat dinner before reading that…no doubt I’d have lost it.
Hangfire must be another Okie.
Good choices.
Scott Brown would be my first choice, but my second would be Sean Duffy who’s running for Congress in Wisconsin.
I think DeMint. Brown doesn’t have the conservative cred.
I concur.
As many signs around the Bay State have been proclaiming this past week, he’s become the Scott heard round the world!
I almost took your bait. LOL
If Steele is unavailable, my 9-year old can sub for him.
Which should be the only thing said in response. Nothing more.

- Sarah or John are the best we can do.
It seems that Scott Brown might think that the template for national health ‘care’ is somehow embodied in the MA health care reform which FORCES participation.
The Tea Party activists must insist on LIBERTY FIRST. Mitt Rommney ignored my liberty when he signed the law we have now so if Scott Brown thinks he now has some ‘mandate’ to keep pushing for national health care but just in a another direction – somebody please SET HIM STRAIGHT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Don’t overexpose Scott Brown.
*sigh* Rogue, you sure know how to cheer me up. That is awesome.
Scott Brown may at first blush seem the logical choice. But listening to his victory speech he was very profuse in his praise of Obummer and the Kennedy clan. His response could be a typical RINO talk saying yes we want government run health care but we must do it in the open If we get Obamacare rammed down our throats does it matter whether it was done behind closed doors or out in the open with bi-partisan support?
How about 1 speaker and all of the above standing behind the speaker adamantly nodding their heads in agreement?
Unified and nationwide.
Not to be a party pooper, but Scott Brown is not the best choice.
Ed Morrissey makes several good points:
I would be pleased to see any of the following people give the response:
John Thune
I’m more interested in the response the people will give in November.

Another good one. His upset of Tom Daschle was almost as big as Brown’s upset of Coakley.
Telling Obama “you lie” is so last year.
Send in Scott Brown’s crowd chanting to Obama “YOU LOSE“.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will deliver the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address next Wednesday.
