SEIU president Andy Stern clings to the blame-GOP card

The SEIU dumped more than $1 million into Martha Antoinette Coakley’s coffers and has nothing to show for it.
In a significant turning point for Big Labor, the “persuasion of power” thuggery of the Purple Shirts failed.
But instead of apologizing to his rank-and-file members for wasting their money (which SEIU President Andy Stern’s SEIU goons have a long habit of doing), Stern responded to the Coakley defeat by echoing Democrat Rep. Steny Hoyer and blaming GOP obstructionism.
Stern’s statement just posted on the SEIU website:
Washington, DC -Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern released the following statement after Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts.
“Today is no different than yesterday or the day before or the day before that. Pat DeJong will still wake up in Libby, Montana. Pat is still mourning the loss of her husband and the selling of his family’s ranch because of his medical bills. And, Pat will still go to the bed side of her patients each day, providing excellent care, still lacking coverage of her own,” said SEIU President Andy Stern. “Pat’s reality is the reality millions of working people face every day. One political election does not change the fact that Pat and hardworking families across this country have been asking for and deserve fundamental reforms.
“The reason Ted Kennedy’s seat is no longer controlled by a Democrat is clear: Washington’s inability to deliver the change voters demanded in November 2008. Make no mistake, political paralysis resulted in electoral failure,” Stern said.
“During the past year, Republicans refused to do anything but stand in the way of change and Democratic Senators took too long to do too little. And tonight, the Senate bears the consequences for its failure to act decisively but the American people are the ones left paying the price. If our elected officials don’t recognize that every day more working families fall victim to Washington’s failure to act, the elections next November will result in the same.
“Today’s vote must be a wake-up call that now is the time for bold action. Time to stand up to politics as usual. Time to stand up to Republican scare and stall tactics. And time to speak up for working families.
“The Senate may have squandered the trust the American people gave to Washington in 2008. But now, every member of Congress and the Administration must act with a renewed sense of purpose to show working families whose side they are on and deliver meaningful change to every American. This is not the time for timidity. It is time to show the courage and strength of conviction to move this country forward and bring working families the change they need. It starts by passing health insurance reform and giving Pat and millions of people like her the security and peace of mind they deserve.”
Someone needs to show him that Luntz focus group video.

Well, “go team! then, I suppose.
Too tired but to blow him a big old GOP *raspberry*
Whining time has begun but can’t find a tear for these dudes. Glad some of them voted for Brown, as that was a nice touch. Need to find my bed.
‘I won?’
The question on my mind is: Will Stern mount a concerted effort to destroy those members of the SEIU who voted or campaign for Brown?
Well then we need to keep up the good fight…..
Ya, every working person will benefit from this wonderful health care bill including union workers… oh wait a second… they are exempt from the new taxes on health care and other provisions, right?
This is just fine. The more of these Dem politicians who continue to keep their heads buried in the sand, the better for us in November. Please, stay your imperious, arrogant selves, and the Republicans will pick up 50 seats in the House and the majority in the Senate.
Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah. Whatever.
That’s like saying David stood in Goliath’s way, and David wasn’t even the one with the slingshot.
So, following Stern’s logic, voters reistered their frustration at not going far enough with health care by … voting in a candidate who promised he’d oppose it?
The denial of reality has never been thicker for the true believers. Frankly, it’s astonishing to behold.
Stern is right about one thing:
Its time to replace our congress
I worry for the safety and job security of the SEIU members in the picture, daring to hold up Scott Brown signs. I bet that won’t go over with with the thug union. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if those folks are threatened with physical violence, for daring to go against the union.
I always thought the idea of a union was to be non-partisan, and to stand up for members. That’s an old, idealist notion, I know. It faded long ago, I suppose.
Logic Fail.
When your candidate isn’t “left” enough to suit you the response isn’t to vote for someone to the right of that candidate.
I am forced to either be a UFCW member or pay agency fees. I pay fees. Our contracts run for three years. During the months leading up to negotiations the Union is everywhere with fliers and stickers telling us how they are so great.
The rest of the time they are usually absent, or will only show up to tell us why card check, for example is in “our” best interest and send us newsletters on why almost every Dem idea is great and Republicans suck. That’s about it.
Andy Stern wants to place the federal government under the control of the labor unions.
In simple terms, Andy Stern is a Communist. People need to understand this fact as they consider his positions and read his statements.
Yeah Andy,it’s all the Republican’s fault—THEY WON.A few more Republican wins and maybe you’ll find yourself where you belong–in prison.
Poor Andy, he is just upset at putting a mil down on Coakley to win and losing it when she came in second. Don’t be mad. I hear that they have some great borscht and whine bars over in the Ukraine. You should fit right in there you communist rat.
Dear SEIU president Andy Stern-you are welcome. I humbly ask you to support Progressive Lite John McCain in his re-election bid.
Tomcat® Rat Snap Trap $7.49 at Ace Hardware.
I suppose that if you want your radical agenda passed so badly that you’re willing to bring about the ruination of your political party’s standing nationally, you will blame the failure of an election on THE OTHER PARTY, but no matter how you cut it, by doing so makes you appear to be either retarded or insane. I mean, the Republican Party has NO power to stop this socialist/fascist power-grab of one-seventh of the American economy. The GOP isn’t REALLY doing anything in a concerted effort to stop the Dems.
This is 100% a repudiation against Obama’s, Pelosi’s, and Reid’s radical agenda, and if the Dems want to blame everything on GOP obstruction and voter frustration that “health care reform” wasn’t passed, I hope they keep up this moronic rhetoric. I hope they just keep doing what they’re doing.
Taxpayers are forced to dump billions into union coffers and have nothing to show for it. What goes around…comes around.
Forever more to be called “The People’s seat” after last night.
Brown said it right, no party or person should own a seat in government.
Maybe union workers are tired of Andy Stern making all of them look like a pack of rabid wolves. Maybe union workers want a good deal but they don’t want to bankrupt the country and lose their souls to get it. Maybe union workers don’t like having a socialist snake speaking for them. Maybe that’s why we saw SEIU members voting to stop the Obama healthcare scam. Double down on that jackass.
Good comic relief. Dems get their azz kicked, with Brown, a one in a million shot, winning in Massachusetts, and this mental midget blames Republicans. Keep blaming Repubs, all the way to minority status in the Congress this November.
GOP obstructionism? Is he joking? The GOP didn’t have the power to obstruct a feather. Not only is he a thug, he is a grasping desperate thug.
Hey dummy. The American worker, indeed the American people themselves are providing the change. Not communist punk theives like you. Sorry for you but it’s not going to be communist-style change.
Power to the People. Right on.
The demonrats had veto proof majorities in both houses. They could not pass a bill. Was it because the republicans said no, (remember the veto proof majorities), or that the bill STUNK. I go with the later. Will they ever learn that the American people do not want what they are pushing?
well said jangar, i wonder how the rank and file feel after this bozo just blew a million plus bucks of their pension and welfare fund trying to buy a congressman…AND FAILED. quit trying to buy your success, and start trying to earn it. there is a reason only 14% of american workers are willing to be in a union, and half of that are gubmint workers. unions are dinosaurs.
Really, what man outside of West Hollywood wears purple shirts? Burgundy shirts I can see. But purple?
Beck had a good chalk board session yesterday. The Demwits don’t need ONE republican vote to get these crap sandwiches passed. So what’s the hold up guys? Is it possible that even some on the left have half of their brains?
Andy Stern aka
Agent Smith: I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.
Andy Stern aka
Agent Smith: I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can’t stand it any longer. It’s the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I’ve somehow been infected by it.
littel andy stern will never get beyond what he is, a pathetic worm. what a gutless parasite this miserable creature truly is. andy, quit making an ass of yourself, yes, you are good at it, but stop.
No worries. They’ll just ask jug-ears for another bailout.
Workers of the world, unite, it’s not just a slogan anymore…..
It’s a way of life for communists like Stern.
