What you can’t watch on the new White House iPhone app

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 20, 2010 11:01 AM

Whoop-de-doo! The White House is touting its new iPhone app. It’s a revolution in open government! Watch the president yakking LIVE, right on your phone.

He’s mobile! He’s streaming! Carry him around in your purse or pocket!

iObama can now be with you 24/7:

Today, we’re excited to announce the new White House App available for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. The White House App delivers dynamic content from WhiteHouse.gov to the palm of your hand.

Image of White House iPhone App showing list of photos and video playerOne feature that stands out is live video streaming. Now anyone with this app can watch the President’s public events at the White House, frequent web chats with Administration officials, and other events like key speeches and press briefings in real time.

In fact, the President’s State of the Union speech next week is a great example. In addition to the millions of Americans watching through TV and websites like WhiteHouse.gov/live, iPhone users on the go will be able to tune in through their phones.

The White House App also lets users stay up to date with the White House Blog and the latest from the Briefing Room. Browse behind-the-scenes photos and watch on-demand videos. The app provides instant access to full videos from recent speeches, press briefings, and special events.

Except, of course, for the behind-the-scenes backroom deals that Mr. Transparency won’t let the American public see and the non-existent videos of his meetings with corporate socialist special interests.

But good news: There’s a great iPhone app to fill the vacuum left by President Obama’s information vacuum. The CricketToy. Chirp, chirp, chirp:

Nah, I’m betting this will be his new stimulus package and we’ll all get one free. Problem will be when you try to use it or change the picture. It will only play Duh Won’s speeches and show a slideshow of pictures of his greatest moments.

(I’d do a /sarc tag, but I truly don’t know if I should. Scary that I can’t actually say with full confidence that this could never happen in our country, isn’t it?)

I think you’re right about how scary it is. I think if the progressives get their way we will see more of our personal freedoms erased. It’s amazing to me much we are already “watched”.

As long as you are in step with the party it’s not a problem.

Glenn Beck is talking about the progressives and how much of our history they’ve erased from the knowledge of the American people. I’m anxious to see his show on Friday where he will outline his ideas.

I never jumped on her bandwagon because she did not make Alaskan government smaller or cheaper.

Speaking of which, I just saw Senator elect Brown indicate that he would support a national health care plan if something suitable was presented.

I can only hope DeMint can get to this guy and talk some sense into him before he gets contaminated bu all this nonsensical bi-partisianship nonsense.

I’m not a paranoid schitzophrenic as everyone thinks I am. And neither am I. And neither am I.

You make a great point, Cheddar! Along with the unbelievable ego this whole thing represents, it also is dangerous and I wouldn’t put it past them to have tracking capabilities built into the program! I wonder how many people actually want to see Odumbo 24×7? Geez!

That may be true however she was working on it. Against the cries of “no, don’t do it” she tacked on an extra $1200 onto our PFD checks to help us cope with higher fuel costs for a grand total of $3269 for all eligible Alaskans. That sure helped out! She can do no wrong in my book but stumping for McCain…not good.
