Radio listeners in the City of Brotherly Love got a dose of just the opposite yesterday when Michele Bachmann took to the airwaves with Republican-turned-Democrat Sen. Arlen Specter.
The Stillwater Republican congresswoman, appearing on conservative talker Dom Giordano’s radio show, took some on-air flak from Specter after repeatedly talking over him. The senator eventually became irate and told her to “act like a lady.” (edited audio of the exchange below, hear the full recording here)
The show was broadcast on 1210 AM WPHT and hosted in Washington on the anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration.
Specter had asked Bachmann what she has proposed or supported this year and was in the middle of criticizing her answer when she interjected.
“Now wait a minute. I’ll stop and you can talk,” Specter said. “I’ll treat you like a lady. So act like one.”
“I am a lady,” Bachmann replied.
Specter later went after Bachmann for saying she voted for “prosperity.”
“She said ‘I voted for prosperity,’” Specter said. “Well prosperity wasn’t a bill.”
“Well why don’t we make it a bill?” Bachmann responded.
“Now wait a minute, don’t interrupt me,” he said. “I didn’t interrupt you. Act like a lady.”
Allahpundit reminds us that Specter’s done the whole “lady” routine with another tough conservative woman — Laura Ingraham.
Just because he debates like a girl doesn’t mean we have to…

I almost feel sorry for Arlen. What a way to end a long Senate career, friendless and ridiculed.
Actually, I wish people would be quiet and let the other person finish their talk. I think it is rude, no matter if it’s conservative or liberal, when they interrupt someone speaking. This is why I don’t watch television news shows anymore like FOX or CNN. I want to hear what is being said without interruption. Even the hosts of the shows get into this rude behavior and frankly I get tired of it.
At least on the web, like Michelle’s site, I can read all sides without being interrupted or the text being shouted over.
An honest and true debate lets both sides present their views and the host keeps their mouth shut so both sides can be heard.
So, can we all act like ladies and gentlemen please? No matter even if we don’t agree or like what the other person is saying. Save it for the rebuttal.

Too much theater is created, and saught after, in an effort to have tension and generate ratings. The hosts should better regulate their guests and we the people might get some much needed answers.

I have said the same thing more times than I can count. One of the worst at this is O’Reilly, and it renders his show unwatchable for me. Simple courtesy and manners are no longer important to what appears to be the majority of society these days. And while there is an element of truth in what stoptheinvasion says, that does not in my opinion excuse the total lack of manners exhibited by most people.

I would agree if there was unlimited time. However, a favorite tactic of the left is to not-answer a question with a diatribe that takes up so much time, the question never gets answered. A type of interviewee filibuster if you will. If they go off topic, call them back immediately.

My sentiment exactly. I rarely watch O’Reilly since the Geraldooo verbal attack on Michelle but tuned in to watch Gov. Palin the other night. The ego maniac would ask a question, Gov. Palin would say 2 or 3 word then O’Reilly would talk right over her answer! As Seeduya commented on Twitter:

We owe a huge thanks to Arlen Spector. Think about it…. had he not switched parties, he may have been the first republican to go along with Obama-Reid-Pelosi-care, getting the Maine twins to follow and thus, have a bipartisan bill. Since he switched to the dems, no other republican wanted to be ‘the only one’ to join with the dems.

What I’ll never understand is Spector’s acquittal vote during Clinton’s impeachment. I mean, Bill Clinton’s behavior in office screamed “IMPEACH ME!!!” There’s no debate about whether Slick Willie obstructed justice, perjured himself, suborned perjury, and abused the power of his office (not to mention receiving BJ’s by an intern while conducting business over the phone with international leaders).
Now, I can understand if somebody like Teddy Kennedy looks at all the evidence and acquits, because his brain was so damaged from alcohol abuse he was probably borderline retarded at the time, not to mention the fact that he was a hopelessly partisan Democrat.
What was Arlin Spector’s excuse? What ever made this complete loser want to be a Republican, when he spent his entire term as a GOP senator flipping off everybody in his own party? What ever possessed the people of Pennsylvania to elect this cretin in the first place? I hope that the people in the Keystone State are having thoughts of “buyer’s remorse” (after what? THIRTY FREAKING YEARS!!!) about this guy.
Another prime example why the 100+ year /sarc politicians need to go. They’re still living in the early 19th century!

The Republicans should have KICKED him out years ago!! Snow and Collins should also not be Republicans. Why does the Party allow democrats to run and occupy offices that are paid for by Republican supporters. This is why people are supporting candidates individually and not the Party. The Party has failed us on many occassions. I hope Brown is a conservative Republican and not a Spector Republican. Get this Party together so it actually means something!!

Fox played the interview this AM and it was obvious that Bachmann did not talk over Specter. She would wait and then say something when he didn’t speak. It is obvious she thought he was through with what he had to say.
Specter made a calculated decision to go with obama and it has blown up in his face. He now clearly sees that he will no longer be the Pennsylvania senator in 2011 and it obviously bothers him. Specter is the classic example of a RINO. He did whatever he had to do to win and now that we the people are watching, he is afraid – and that is what we should want as citizens. He should know that he works for us and is not entitled to the senate seat. Scott Brown did a great service in telling the people of Massachusetts and America that no seat belongs to any individual or party. I say goodbye and good riddance to Arlen. He has betrayed the Republican Party and America in his unquenchable thirst for power.
Specter? He wouldn’t know a lady if one sat on his face.

They get too many benefits for just holding office. There should be term limits and NO LIFETIME BENEFITS. General George Washington was right when he said “No!” to being the King. I think many of our poloticans now run around saying, “It’s GOOD to be the King!” like Mel Brooks in “History of the World Part I”.
Great line this morning by a call-in to Glenn Beck. I paraphrase, but it went something like “Michelle IS a lady and twice the man as Arlen!”. Love it!
Arlen’s “lady” comment was totally in keeping with his character. When he was losing the debate, he resorted to the “put the little lady in her place” treatment. Insulting 51% of the population won’t raise his poll numbers.
