Dear Cindy & Meghan: Let’s talk about who’s really being silenced over Prop. 8
Hollywood and political celebrities are such lemmings. AIDS ribbons. Foreign baby adoptions. Livestrong bracelets. Now, every fame-seeker and left-wing panderer wants his/her mouth duct-taped to show solidarity with the gay marriage movement.
The latest slave to fashion? Cindy McCain, following in the oh-so-edgy-for-Tinseltown footsteps of her daughter, MEghan:

Who’s silencing these Prop. 8 opponents? They’re more overexposed than Mariah Carey’s bosom. They can talk and talk and talk without fear of retribution, intimidation, or physical violence:
Meanwhile, Prop. 8 supporters and donors have been hounded, threatened, blacklisted, beaten, and forced to resign from their jobs for exercising their political free speech.
On Friday, a liberal San Francisco Chronicle columnist decried the latest thug tactics against a 96-year-old Mormon community activist who is now the target of an anti-Prop. 8 witch hunt:
I certainly understand the anger fomented by one individual’s generous contribution to the clearly mean-spirited campaign of Proposition 8. But, I’m not so sure I agree with the message being sent by gay and lesbian activists in the case of 96-year-old Lorenzo Hoopes.
The civic-minded Oakland citizen – with more than 50 years’ experience in public service – is currently the target of gay-rights activists who say his $26,000 contribution in support of the 2008 ballot initiative that reversed the state’s same-sex marriage law makes him unfit to hold public office.
And to make their point, critics have launched a campaign to block his reappointment to the board of directors of the Paramount Theatre, a city-owned landmark in downtown Oakland.
On its face, the campaign to remove Hoopes from an inconsequential seat on an inconsequential public board appears to be as mean-spirited as the same-sex marriage ban itself. Hoopes, who is Mormon, wasn’t on anyone’s radar screen until after the ballot initiative won voter approval in November 2008.
Since then, his reappointment has become such a hot-button issue that Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums withdrew Hoopes’ nomination from the Oakland City Council’s agenda package this week. A Dellums’ spokesman said the mayor wanted more time to consider the reappointment. Given his support for same-sex marriage, Dellums will likely withdraw the Hoopes nomination, said one mayoral aide. As mayor, Dellums has appointment power to all city boards and commissions.
Hoopes’ opponents believe that anyone who played a role as significant as he did on the ballot initiative should not be allowed to serve in any public capacity. His contribution was the largest by any Oakland resident.
But it’s even more than that: They want Hoopes to feel the same public humiliation felt by the gay community as the result of a vicious series of televised campaign ads paid for by people like him.
…The nation’s changing culture is proof positive that Hoopes’ standard of marriage is no longer the only valid viewpoint of society’s ultimate union, but in a democracy based on individual religious and political freedoms, seeking to exclude – or completely ban – others for not sharing your politics is just as wrong.
Cindy and MEghan McCain’s silence on the continued thuggery of their anti-Prop. 8 duct-tape wielders speaks volumes.

The whole family is a bunch of libs. Not a Conservative among them.
Or, Dear Cindy and Meghan: Stop talking.
I welcome the thought of hearing nothing from anyone of them. The truth is however, none of them will shut up long enough. Perez Hilton, Tia what-ever, etc. – please don’t take the tape off.
Let the people decide….oh, wait they did. Cindy, Meghan, shut the hell up.
This whole, “I-didn’t-get-what-I-want-so-it-must-be-Fascism!” shtick is so passive aggressive that either of those two pictures would be an excellent visual definition of that term.
Clever spelling, MM – and oh so true!
Speaking of inalienable rights:
“-I demand my right to bear children and fullfill my role as a mother.
-But you are a man.
-Still I demand this right.
-You demand a right to insanity.”
It’s not an exact quote but this was priceless dialogue in the Monty Python movie: “Life of O’Brian”
Life imitates art.
What part of the majority of voters of CA voting for marriage between a man and woman do you not understand cindy and meghan? You want your free speech but you want to deny the voters theirs.
L
Its time to send the McCains packing.
Liberate Arizona!
Now there’s a nice thought. Let’s encourage all nutroots to participate in this protest, and leave the tape on until they convince the rest of us.
MEg and Cindy, we promise to think about it as long as the duct tape remains in place.
It was his money, to do with as he wished! How does it make him unfit to serve in office simply because he donated to a cause with which the MINORITY disagrees?
“I get that she supports same-sex marriage, but what does that have to do with anybody forcibly silencing her? If you have something to say, lady, just say it and quit blaming others.”
It’s some new bondage sheik. I guess they are speaking up in favor of rape fantasies.
Someone -Somebodies, got addicted to the media attention from the last Presidential election cycle?
More Orwellian nonsense from the cult of hate.
If all the censorship, thuggery and violence are on the “H8″ side, who is really the arbiters of hate?
Josef Goebbels would be so proud.
This is great! Cindy and daughter are real assets to John McCain’s reelection campaign.
There is a real danger that MEghan McCain thinks she speaks for a new generation of Republican’s. Somebody needs to make it perfectly clear to her that she is actually a Democrat regardless of her Daddy’s affiliation (which is in itself questionable).
I’ve heard if you put duct tape on a wart it will eventually kill it.
Victims and villians are essential to the Progressive Movement as there is no sunstance to their arguments.
Cindy, do you want to do some real good?
Grab a camping shovel and get your scrawny arse to Haiti.
No one is trying to silence them.
But I sure wish they all would shut up.
They are only preaching among their own little insular club. The rest of us get it. These people have no idea how self-destructive their tactics are. So let them talk!
Why would anyone want to be on the same campaign as the odious Tila Tequila? Next the McCain ladies will be doing PETA ads with Jenna Jameson.
Wouldn’t it be nice if a prominent conservative would come forward to condemn the harassment, thuggery, and persecution aimed at gay marriage opponents instead of hopping this bandwagon? Mr. Hoopes has a legit First Amendment claim here if Mayor Dellums kicks him off that board.
It’s time to retire the McCain family to one of there homes….let them tend their gardens and watch tv…time to leave the restoring of America to someone else.
They are not good for the country.
Whoa there! Let the sunshine in.
Well.. lets see. Gay activists are harassing, threatening and some would say “terrorizing” citizens who dare to exercise their right to free speech in support of Prop 8.
What should be done about this? Should the same tactics be directed at those who don’t support Prop 8?
I am glad they are doing it. It increases the chances that JD Hayworth can beat Mc Cain. Now we need to have Palin see the light.
I’ve been on the sfgate blog board. Their simple position is this oxymoronic premise:
“You have freedom of religion, but not when it interferes with other rights”.
They ignore that religious freedom exists in the US Constitution, but marriage freedom does not.
They don’t care, and they’re not listening. Maybe somebody should duct-tape their own ears and go as a liberal for Halloween.
Errah where’s their complimentary tin foil hats to go along with the metal duct tape on their big fat yaps? They along with Juan McShame need Arlene Sphincter to do a family intervention and show them how to change the “(R)” to a “(D)”. Anyone who contributes to this RINO campaign including Sarah Palin is just a RINO enabler.
Where do I send money so they can buy more tape?
I’m a little confused…the McCains live in Arizona, not California, right?
I also misread the message; I thought it said NO HOs. My bad.
Errah they must have used a gallon of paint to airbrush out her crow’s feet.
MAYBE THIS EXPLAINS JUANS SURGE TO THE LEFT. instead of him telling his wife and child to quit giving him political advice, he accepts it as the way things really are, and he is just out of touch. JUAN, YOU ARE OUT OF TOUCH, AND YOUR FAMILY IS TOO. I KNOW, H8 SPEECH. GO WRITE YOUR MEMOIRS.
The first duct taped mouth I recall was Martin Sheen. As with the McCain I do not recall any other time that clowns mouth was ever shut. Added to their NOH8 campaign the Little Faggots of Sodom are now running an ad that the Mormon Church has “destroyed countless lives” supporting Prop 8. I do not know the percentage of Mormons in California but I doubt they control much of anything- but the Little Faggots of Sodom and Cindy McCain lie about other things too.
As love2rumba done said he did:
Its time to send the McCains packing.
Liberate Arizona!

Just for you Cindy and the Little Faggots of Sodom
Tartan™ 3903 Vinyl Duct Tape, 2″ x 50 Yd., Pack Of 24 $134.99
Let me give a hearty AMEN to that.
Michelle, is it ok to ask people to contribute to a candidate running against McCain?
How did that happen?
Michelle, do you have a users manual for those buttons?
Nothing so infuriates champions of ‘Diversity’ as much as an opinion diverse from their own.
That whole campaign is ridiculous! They say the duct tape symbolizes their voices not being heard. Well if they live in CA and they bothered to vote, their voices were heard. It’s just that more people agreed with the other side. I wonder how many people on this campaign aren’t even registered to vote in CA.
Face it folks, you’re not oppressed victims, you simply have an unpopular opinion on a subject.
H8 it for you, but that’s life… get over it!
If I were this guy I would go after the city legally. If this is the reason given for withdrawing his nomination could he not sue for the attempt to stifle his consitutionally protected free speech?
As others have siad no one is trying to shut up anyone that is for gay marriage, but they take it that way when the voters repudiate their desires for gay marriage at the ballot box. If the nation was turning more in favor of gay marriage would not California voters have ensured that gay marriage was legal in their state?
Don’t worry. The judge in the trial will probably rule Prop 8 as unconstitutional. Then a higher court will rule that another vote has to be taken. Then, the liberal fascists will be out in force to ensure the vote goes their way.
All in the name of freedom and democracy, you understand…
How ridicuosly funny, a woman with her moth taped shut.
‘Never Again’, to borrow a phrase. NO MORE RINOS.
*Sigh.
Informed dis-approval does not equal “hate” – no matter how the concept is misspelled.
These people are Americans, and they can stick feathers up their bum, but that does not make them a chicken, anymore than their peculiar body fluid swap can be called “marriage.”
In 2007, the CDC published figures that show homosexuals to be three times at risk in almost every major self destructive category known to humanity: drug abuse, alcoholism, smoking, STD’s, domestic violence, depression, suicide, promiscuity, etc.
These people are deeply disturbed, and need our help – not approval, facilitation and legal sanction with their self-destructive perversion(s).
Informed dis-approval does not equal “hate” – no matter how the concept is misspelled.
There are over 800,000 Mormons in California, or about 2% of the state population.
Too bad Palin is planning on vaporizing all her conservative cred in campaigning for McCain. While she may feel obligated to return the favor, she seems to have forgotten that the Tea Party folks who form her most loyal base despise Vichy RINOs like McCain and that to line up with them is viewed as lining up against the Tea Partiers. Scott Brown is now the new hotness. Palin losing her luster is her own damn fault.
You can be sure it didn’t last any longer than it took to take the shot.
As others have noted, not only are these people not being silenced, you can’t shut them up. Yammer, yammer, yammer. If the supporters of Prop 8 acted or talked the way the anti-8′s do, they’d be prosecuted for hate crimes. But it would be kinda nice to see a few thousand people outside of McCain’s house carrying signs and chanting slogans in support of Prop 8. In fact, it would be nice if it happened to some of these Cal. clowns who are persecuting people like Hoopes.
Oh yes, Meghan (ValleyGirl) McCain who can’t put an entire sentence together without at least 3 “like”‘s in it. She is so, like, grody! One of the biggest twits on the planet.
There’s that ‘No Haiti’ campaign again. Why are so many people against Haiti? And why aren’t Sharpton and Jackson up in arms about the blatant racism and hatred shown by the ‘No Haiti’ campaign.
These people have suffered and don’t deserve such vitriol from the usual suspects. The entire No Haiti campaign should be ashamed.
I can’t believe John let his wife be a part of such a racist campaign after calling everyone in NC a racist for an ad that didn’t have anything to do with race last political campaign.
I guess America really is a racist nation after all. No Haiti indeed.
I wonder if when the tables are turned and conservatives are in power that we can just kick anyone out of political power positions who have duct taped their mouths shut in support of prop 8?
I NO H8 QR B8! R U 4 RE L?
Communists silence free speech. Americans are not afraid of words. Intimidation and physical threats as well as bombings and beatings, yes.
These people attempt to change the subject when they can not win logically. Children.
Thacker. Where is/was the concern while 2,000,000 innocent civilians were slaughtered in Cambodia?
No pictures, no rock concerts. Only denials from the left.
Dear perverts:
stop trying to ram your sex life down my throat. …
The problem is they are not content just to be gay and be left alone, or even accepted… they want all straight people to celebrate their perversions the way they do…
it’s actually kind of revolting…
Exactly right, Michelle. And thank you for speaking the truth.
Those who know the truth feel no need to silence those who speak lies.
But those who can’t handle the truth,
try to silence those who speak it.
A) So there is hope
B) George Bush did it
C) The Mormons did it
D) All of the above

You might want to do a rewrite on that one.
Cindy McCain, married to John McCain, who thinks we on the far right are “Agents of Intolerance”.
Enough of the McAnus clan…!!!
Fit them all with Gorilla Tape.

why? It is exactly what they want.. (and I am aware of the double “entongue-dre!’”
When, oh WHEN will these people learn to differentiate between being outvoted and being oppressed/forcibly silenced? If you don’t like living in a place where people who disagree with you on gay marriage or any other issue have the right to vote too, feel free to relocate.
Sharia Law, anyone? Which is worse, being unable to legally marry (although you can still have all the same legal rights with a same-sex partner that marriage entails) or the fear that you could be EXECUTED if you are found “guilty” of being gay?
Idiots.
Please, Arizona, vote McShame out of office and replace him with J.D. Hayworth. And, Sarah Palin, please give it up with the support of the old back-stabbing RINO. McAmnesty and his libtard family members are yesterday’s news. Go CONSERVATIVE or get out of our way!
Ragspierre–’Ode to a Haggis’ and all that!
and TooMuchTime: thanks for the newest quote on my Facebook page…
Our hostess wrote:
Don’t forget school students who feel pressured to take part in Day of Silence events – or at least keep silent about their opposition to GLSEN’s agenda. It’s that or be labeled as haters.
Free speech for me, but not for thee – that seems to be the ‘great commandment’ from the left.
I should introduce her to my young adult sons, who will tell her in no uncertain terms that their generation is actually more conservative than their parents. They never were impressed by MEghan (btw that’s a good one, Red!), and are even less so now.
Have I mentioned how very proud I am of my offspring?
Oops! Credit for MEghan belongs to MM; my eyes slid right past that on first reading.
Meghan can say what she likes, she is not relevant.
Do you realize that if they tape their mouths shut they aren’t actually saying anything? That means they don’t actually make a point that anyone can refute or argue against. But….um…….
…they aren’t SAYING anything. Just saying is all.
Taping their own mouths shut is the best idea liberals have come up. Where can I contribute to buy them more duct tape? There are still a lot of untaped ones on the loose.
Cindy and Meghan, your 15 minutes are up.
And, they hope to accomplish what again with this photo stunt? Got to be more to this story? Little MEg thinks she’s way more attractive than she is and is rather sad hanging onto the pop culture of Sleazywood. I’m betting they could care less about her, but they will use her.
As far as Big Mama MEg – whatever respect I had for her is now gone.
McCains — can’t we get them out of our system? And party?
Several years ago, I bought my daughtet a t-shirt.
It said,
“Silence is golden.
Duct tape is silver.”
I love my grandkids, but really, she needed to use it.
I don’t love the liberals and they need to use it, too.
What does one call the intolerance of intolerance? At least I’m willing to call myself intolerant and closed-minded, of course in the sense that I believe that I am right, not that I’m unwilling to allow others to express their opinions.
We used to call them “useful idiots”, but I suppose lemmings will do as well. “View from Sunset Boulevard: America as Brought to You by the People Who Make Television” by Ben Stein is a good book to understand Hollywood.
Errah so Juan bought her a Glamour Shot for Christmas??!! Didn’t think they were still in business.
Dear Cindy and Pigparts McCain, please go to the Folsom Street Fair. Tell me if you feel the same about Prop. 8 when you get back and Pigparts just oink twice for yes and once for no.
It took me awhile but I figured it out. John McCain is going for the sympathy vote….he has my sympathy, no one is stopping anyone for speaking about same sex marriage no one. It reminds me of all the blogs that kept photo shopping Meghan McCain with Duct Tape over her mouth so is she parodying her parody?
MtPundit already did this last June.
Silence is Golden and Duct Tape is Silver.

How dare you say the proponents of Prop 8 were “beaten”. That old lady had her sign snatched from her hands, an indecent act for sure, not a “beating”. A real beating is the kind that left Jack Price in a coma after he was attacked just for being gay. Real, actual violence is perpetrated against gay people every single day. Do you know what it’s like to walk down the street at night after leaving a gay club afraid that you’ll end up like Dick Jefferson or Lindsay C. Harmon (who was stabbed in the eye for being gay). Do you know what it’s like to be raped by men convinced that lesbianism is just a ruse to annoy heterosexual men? That’s the reality for too many gay people and shame on you for never once speaking out against it and instead focusing all of your outrage on gay people boycotting companies that don’t support their rights. Shame on you! Gay people are second only to Jews when it comes to hate crimes in the U.S. – maybe you add at least one sentence to your anti-marriage vitriol about how important respect is.
What did Andy Dick get arrested for?
Pathetic.
Yes you are now go away.
You are absolutely pathetic. That is the first thought that enters your mind when you read information about gay people being savagely beaten. Disgusting. Andy Dick was arrested for being drunk and disorderly … so? So that makes it ok to beat gay people to death or to within inches of it? Because that certainly seems to be the only possible reason you would make such a crass insinuation.
And yet Ann Coulter complains that right-wingers are stereotyped as “homophobic” ….
My friends from college are gay, my wife’s brother is gay … it just sickens me so much to hear this kind of crap from you, Michelle Malkin and your readers are even worse. Grow up, guys. You’re dating yourselves.
Oh, and would you like me to start compiling a list of the amount of straight people who have been arrested for sexual harassment? No, of course not, because that proves nothing. Nothing
Nice that you now everything about me NOT!!! Andy Dick sexually assaulted two men which you have conveniently left out. Just like the MSM that hardly reports any of the crimes that gays do to non gays.
Tell us about the female lesbian gangs that beat up on non lesbians just for the fun of it. I guess those aren’t hate crimes because they don’t make the news. Probably aren’t hate crimes to you anyway because no gay was harmed.
Oh yeah, go take a look at zombietimes and head to the Folsom pictures and tell me what you think Roger. Lovely, harmless people that wants to have a family and live in peace.
Here’s a quarter.
Using Folsom Street to generalize homosexuals is a lot like using the Westboro Baptist Church to generalize Christians.
tum te tum tum tum
You’re double standards are overwhelming in their ridiculousness. Andy Dick’s sexual harrassment of two men in a bar was reported, as evidenced by the fact that you know about it, obviously. Secondly, that “lesbian gangs” nonsense was entirely overstated, as admitted by the perpetrator of that non-story, Bill O’Reilly himself.
But your factual inaccuracy isn’t the point. Violence is of course unacceptable when gays perpetrate it against anyone, but that doesn’t change the fact that people are attacked frequently just because they are gay or are even suspected of being gay. What kind of silly point are you trying to make when you reply to this fact with “well, gays do violence too, blah, blah, pants on fire, etc., etc.”. Childishness is charming in children, but such puerility in adults is another thing and much less charming, especially on an issue as important as this.
As for Folsom … again, what’s your point? Some gays behave offensively and unacceptably once a year in San Francisco … therefore, homophobia is justified? It just doesn’t add up. Straight people behave pretty offensively during St. Patrick’s Day and indeed during the Folsom Fair also and during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Does it follow that straight people are therefore universally morally defective by default?
What are you so scared of anyway? Go and meet some gay people, they’re really no different to you or I despite what Michelle Malkin seemingly wants us all to believe ….
A very good point, Jeddite …
Omu, Jeddite, the issue isn’t the generalization of homosexuals but rather the issue is the unconstitutional acts of homosexuals and their supporters against the democratic vote that put them in the minority. The violence is something that needs to be addressed just as it was addressed with Jack Price. Daniel Aleman and Daniel Rodriquez were indicted on charges of hate crimes. I’m not a proponent of “hate crimes” as it violates the concept of equality under the law but if you think we should treat the perpetrators of violence against supporters of Prop 8 like those that attacked Jack Price, well we can agree on that.
Red herrings are tasty though, good with some tartar sauce and chips.
Are you frickin’ serious? Are you trying to make out that anti-gay people are equally as harrassed and discriminated against and are beaten up as much and as often as gay people are? Are people who support Prop 8 bullied at school, too? I mean, seriously, this bizarre, conscious displacement from reality (all so that you don’t have to condemn violence against gay people unequivocally!) is obscenely offensive and shameful.
As for hate crime legislation … I don’t see the problem with classifying crimes properly. If someone attacks a gay person just for being gay, then that person has not only committed an act of violence against that one person, they’ve also acted in such a way as to intimidate and scare and jeopardise the existence of an entire community and that should be recognised when the criminal is being prosecuted. Get over it.
I’m frickin’ serious. Are you frickin’ reading what I’m writing and understanding it? Check that, doesn’t appear you are. I mean, seriously, this bizarre, conscious displacement from the reality if what I wrote (all so you can hop on a soapbox and spout your hate) is obscenely offensive and shameful.
Perhaps you did not notice the comment that evoked said analogy about undue generalizations. If you did, here it is:
This is what my comment #91 is specifically referring to, not the Cindy & Meghan McCain Duct Tap Exposé at large.
Haha, that’s actually laughable. You hate gay people so much that you’re not willing to even acknowledge that a lot of gay are beaten and bullied and harassed unless I also acknowledge that gay people perpetrate an equal amount of violence and abuse against straight people with whom they disagree? You’re something else …
Oh, and just in case it wasn’t clear enough; you’re either completely delusional or incredibly insidious in your homophobia if you honestly think gay people perpetrate as much abuse as they receive. Ridiculous!
oh yes, no surprise you would support ‘hate crimes’ ie thought crimes.
so do you think the murderers of jesse dirkshing should be charged with a hate crime?
hate crimes are just another method for the fascist gay movement to criminalize any thought word or deed they disagree with.
Uh, who said anything about “thought crime”? Such laws would be impossible to enforce, firstly, unless the FBI hires many hundreds of thousands of psychic mind-readers … which seems about as likely as Michelle Malkin showing any kind of respect or decency for gay people. When her son grows up, he’ll meet gay people in college and he’ll realise they’re not monsters plotting the demise of society (which is exactly the impression of gay people anyone who reads this blog would get).
You clearly have no understanding about hate crimes despite the fact that the concept is very easy indeed to understand and in spite of the fact that I have just succinctly explained the concept in the plainest possible terms. So, forget about it, okay? You’re being wilfully ignorant, I have no time for that
Uncle Ted! I’m glad to see you alive an kickin!!
