None dare call it Stimulus II

It’s Return of the Crap Sandwich.

Porkulus, Jr.

Spendapalooza Redux.

Special Interest Slush Fund: The Sequel.

Whatever you call the Obama Jobs Bill, it’s more red ink, generational theft, and wealth redistribution all rolled up into another Democrat “economic recovery” intervention.

Democrat Rep. Brad Sherman admits that his leadership has told him not, not, not to use the s-word when referring to the next Jobs For Cronies Package.

Build something real, build something big, and have it provide dividends (power). WPA paid for stuff that you can still point to today.

If I remember correctly, when Stimulus I passed, there were some members of Congress who were unhappy that their pork didn’t make into the bill, and they were told that there would be another opportunity coming up for them to do so.

Will the GOP offer any alternatives, and what should they be? Capital investment tax credits, a reduction in the corporate income tax, and long-term incentives for hiring workers might be a nice place to start. The trouble is, as long as health care mandates and whacky environmental laws or EPA regulation are possible, they will be like a boat anchor on business expansion. I don’t see His Progressiveness giving up on those things in the name of fixing the economy. Just the opposite. Without benefit of any economic evidence, he thinks killing coal and turning “green” will “fix” the jobs “problem.” He IS the jobs problem.

And what about the TARP money that was paid back with interest? Shouldn’t it go back into the treasury rather than get recycled into the dems piggy bank? (All rhetorical questions of course).

When will people figure out the stupidity of “stimulus?” The Feds take $1 out of a state through taxes. They run it through the federal bureaucracy and take .20 to .28 cents off of every dollar. Then they give .72 to .80 cents back to the same state and call it “stimulus!”

If they hadn’t collected the $1 in the first place the people in the state would have had the whole $1 to spend instead of .80 cents!

The only thing a “stimulus package” stimulates is the federal bureaucracy!

The only true economic stimulus packages would be tax cuts such as JFK and RWR did. GWB’s tax cuts worked, too, but the morally corrupt and economically idiotic Fannie Mae Put Anyone And Everyone In A House monstrosity finally came home to roost in 2007, and nothing could stand against that.

Obama’s stimulus packages are about stimulating the growth of government at the expense of the economy.

It ain’t comin’. There’s no ETA.

Recall that Obama used the phrase “Shovel ready” when talking about projects the first scam went through.

The only thing shovel ready is the load of crap he is foisting on America.

They haven’t even begun most of the projects they were supposed to do with Scamulus I. Case a point. A road/bridge project in my area that they allocated more than a million dollars to hasn’t even begun. And before you go blaming this on local officials, bear in mind that Obama’s administration knew and was told repeatedly that these infrastructure projects would not even begin until long after a recovery started.

So more of the same is on the way. Great. The way he’s going through all of this money reminds of a kid who licks all the candy in a dish so he can claim it as his own. This guy is just grabbing every pile of money he can get his hands on and is spending on his Socialist Utopian Plan. This has ZERO to do with stimulus. You can’t stimulate the economy with paving jobs.

Obama can create some prison guard jobs by throwing himself and his cabinet in prison as soon as possible. The man sickens me.

The great collapse of Keynesian theory occurred when it was tested in the late ’60s and ’70s. That’s when the term “stagflation” was coined. Inflation and economic recession were states not considered possible to coexist in a modern economy. Surprise.

Prior to that, government connected economists were all Keynesians, and the toast of the DC cocktail party set. World economies were wired and as easy to drive as a Cadillac. Unfortunately the driver turned out to be a drunk who chose not to maintain his vehicle properly.

We have to decouple the government from the economy as much as possible, not vice versa. It should take its share of the income but not interfere unduly with economic activity.

Obama is not as responsible (nor any President) as is Congress but his “leadership” certainly does add fuel to the fire. Since there is no continuity of management nor leadership accountability, one can see how these problems can develop. Combine that with unlimited power, emotions, fertile imaginations in the politicians….. and you have a major problem on your hands.

Every year when I drive across Hoover Dam near Las Vegas I think about what great benefits came from this Great Depression era spending project. Many unemployed people got real jobs then.

The dam prevented annual flooding and made much better agriculture possible in California, and provided reliable water sources for people. Sale of power from the dam paid the construction costs many times over. We got our money back long ago.
    ***
What equivalent projects is Comrade Obama (PBUH) working on now? No building proven nuclear power plants and getting cheaper reliable electricity. No offshore and Alaskan drilling and using our own oil resources to defund terrorist supporting and enemy states. No lowering our imports of foreign oil and improving our balance of payments.
    ***
However, it’s O.K. to waste our money on “green” energy sources that are less reliable, provide more expensive power, and have shorter life times.

And these “greenie” fools want to tear down our dams and kill our agriculture to save a few fish!
