None dare call it Stimulus II

Whatever you call the Obama Jobs Bill, it’s more red ink, generational theft, and wealth redistribution all rolled up into another Democrat “economic recovery” intervention.
Democrat Rep. Brad Sherman admits that his leadership has told him not, not, not to use the s-word when referring to the next Jobs For Cronies Package.

Does a spending freeze mean that we’ll be using “cold cash” Jefferson’s funds?
If you want go Keynesian, do the full John Maynard. No funding street theater. No grants to states, cities or municipalities.
‘Stimulus’ or not, build a couple of nuclear power plants. Concrete, steel, wood (for forms), pipes, wiring, etc.
Build something real, build something big, and have it provide dividends (power). WPA paid for stuff that you can still point to today.
How are you going to charge all those battery powered cars?
Mr. Dan Mitchell of the Center for Freedom & Prosperity posted this video at big government. http://wp.me/pLGBN-I
Though congress will call this a jobs bill, it will be the usual pork and payback. Full of wealth redistribution, socialist agenda items, giveaway to unions and special interest. There is not enough perfume on the planet to make this bill pass the goat smell test.
If I remember correctly, when Stimulus I passed, there were some members of Congress who were unhappy that their pork didn’t make into the bill, and they were told that there would be another opportunity coming up for them to do so.
Does anyone else remember that?
Takes real chutzpah to try to push another one through when they’ve only spent a fraction of the first one. How much of a re-election slush fund do the Dems need? They’re going to lose seats no matter how many billion they spend buying votes.
Why? What’s wrong with frisbee parks?????
Please, please, please paint the nuclear power plants G R E E N.
If you use the “S” word, your momma will wash your mouth out with soap.
Your momma being Barry Obama.
Will the GOP offer any alternatives, and what should they be? Capital investment tax credits, a reduction in the corporate income tax, and long-term incentives for hiring workers might be a nice place to start. The trouble is, as long as health care mandates and whacky environmental laws or EPA regulation are possible, they will be like a boat anchor on business expansion. I don’t see His Progressiveness giving up on those things in the name of fixing the economy. Just the opposite. Without benefit of any economic evidence, he thinks killing coal and turning “green” will “fix” the jobs “problem.” He IS the jobs problem.
“Aid to state and local government”… This is another government stimulus bill…
Since Obama has ridden in on his white horse and saved us from the brink of economic collapse and everything is looking rosy again, why not return the $540 billion in stimulus I that hasn’t been spent on his liberal social programs? And what about the TARP money that was paid back with interest? Shouldn’t it go back into the treasury rather than get recycled into the dems piggy bank? (All rhetorical questions of course).
Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has a big flat beak and big flat feet…
It’s a pony! Trust me.
Just another big government social program to further grow government and create willing dependents. Everything Obama does is designed to do just that. Nothing is for the country’s best interest, but for Democrats pursuit of perpetual power. Period.
What do you mean I can’t use the s-word? What kinda dog-squeeze is that?
All right, if it ain’t stimulus for the populous, lets call it, poopulous for the populous!
When will people figure out the stupidity of “stimulus?” The Feds take $1 out of a state through taxes. They run it through the federal bureaucracy and take .20 to .28 cents off of every dollar. Then they give .72 to .80 cents back to the same state and call it “stimulus!”
If they hadn’t collected the $1 in the first place the people in the state would have had the whole $1 to spend instead of .80 cents!
The only thing a “stimulus package” stimulates is the federal bureaucracy!
If BigZero wants to “stimulate” job growth, he might start by removing all of the incentives for US companies to move their factories elsewhere. Start by ripping up NAFTA, then address the absurd China situation; those buggers are trying to poison us!
The only true economic stimulus packages would be tax cuts such as JFK and RWR did. GWB’s tax cuts worked, too, but the morally corrupt and economically idiotic Fannie Mae Put Anyone And Everyone In A House monstrosity finally came home to roost in 2007, and nothing could stand against that.
Obama’s stimulus packages are about stimulating the growth of government at the expense of the economy.
DEMOCRATS = SOFT ON DEFENSE, SOFT ON CRIME, TAX AND SPEND. REMEMBER THIS KIDS, WE CAN’T KEEP MAKING THIS MISTAKE EVERY TEN YEARS OR SO.
I’m still waiting for the stimulus part of “Stimulus” I.
Maybe he should have called it “Socialism I”.
It ain’t comin’. There’s no ETA.
Recall that Obama used the phrase “Shovel ready” when talking about projects the first scam went through.
The only thing shovel ready is the load of crap he is foisting on America.
They haven’t even begun most of the projects they were supposed to do with Scamulus I. Case a point. A road/bridge project in my area that they allocated more than a million dollars to hasn’t even begun. And before you go blaming this on local officials, bear in mind that Obama’s administration knew and was told repeatedly that these infrastructure projects would not even begin until long after a recovery started.
So more of the same is on the way. Great. The way he’s going through all of this money reminds of a kid who licks all the candy in a dish so he can claim it as his own. This guy is just grabbing every pile of money he can get his hands on and is spending on his Socialist Utopian Plan. This has ZERO to do with stimulus. You can’t stimulate the economy with paving jobs.
Obama can create some prison guard jobs by throwing himself and his cabinet in prison as soon as possible. The man sickens me.
Dr. Utopia will never agree to more nuclear power plants for America. For France-great, Iran-maybe. But for Americans it will be only green power (i.e. shortages, massive brownouts and blackouts)
The democrats cannot do anything except spend. Borrow and spend, tax and spend, steal and spend. And what do they do with that money? Well, they buy bling and do photo-ops. That’s it. Welcome to the United States of Detroit.
This just in.
Sinking like a rock. At least some Americans get it.
No longer Obama’s stash, but Obama’s bling.
Desperately holding onto dead-and-buried Keynesian “economic” theory and 19th century Marxian Socialism. History constantly teaches that this stuff just does not work.
You would have more success in beating a dead horse – if your goal was to actually assist an economy. We know, however, that is not their goal. They must destroy the economy before it can be “reconstituted” with a Marxist template.
That’s right. Let’s get those oil rigs back online. Unless…the current government wants to wallow in malaise a little longer & blame me for driving my car?
Assets + Liabilities = Stockholder Equity
Our national SE is a negative number. The only thing holding holding this ship together is wishful thinking and trust in the “good faith” of the Federal Government. Time for a balanced (and limited) budget amendment.
Limit the Federal Government by limiting its ability to spend and print money.”
It’s not a question of working. It’s a question of power. How much power can they get through conning the population with the idea they are helping.
Yeah that’s what we need. Power America with grass clippings, pig crap, and hot air. That’s the ticket.
Don Quixotes and lunatics are running the country now. How is it possible for responsible elected officials to even consider their “recommendations”? These kooks should be somewhere babbling into their morning meds cup.
I read the Oregon has approved raising taxes on the wealthy and businesses. The people just don’t get it. What happens when expenses for businesses go up? It means less jobs, higher prices for goods and more businesses leaving the state or not coming into the state. This is suppposed to stimulate the economy and help with the deficient? They just don’t get it.
You know, I see those numbers and all I can think are “Who are the freakin’ 48.7% idiots who approve?? Under which rock do they live??”
The great collapse of Keynesian theory occurred when it was tested in the late ’60s and ’70s. That’s when the term “stagflation” was coined. Inflation and economic recession were states not considered possible to coexist in a modern economy. Surprise.
Prior to that, government connected economists were all Keynesians, and the toast of the DC cocktail party set. World economies were wired and as easy to drive as a Cadillac. Unfortunately the driver turned out to be a drunk who chose not to maintain his vehicle properly.
We have to decouple the government from the economy as much as possible, not vice versa. It should take its share of the income but not interfere unduly with economic activity.
Obama is not as responsible (nor any President) as is Congress but his “leadership” certainly does add fuel to the fire. Since there is no continuity of management nor leadership accountability, one can see how these problems can develop. Combine that with unlimited power, emotions, fertile imaginations in the politicians….. and you have a major problem on your hands.
I never thought I would say this to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, but…Good question!!
Simple, if you’re a lib. Announce a tax credit on generators and, quietly, raise taxes on coal and other industries.
You can tell that there aren’t any people in this administration who actually worked in the public sector, or ever ran a company. Their economic policies can’t possibly work and everyone knows it. In fact, they know it too. That is what is so scary. They KNOW this won’t work. They KNOW it has NEVER worked in any other country, in the history of the world! My God, someone stop them!!!

Ummm, thank you.
Paraphrasing a teacher of mine, ‘There is no such thing as a bad question, just bad answers.’

Every year when I drive across Hoover Dam near Las Vegas I think about what great benefits came from this Great Depression era spending project. Many unemployed people got real jobs then.
***
The dam prevented annual flooding and made much better agriculture possible in California, and provided reliable water sources for people. Sale of power from the dam paid the construction costs many times over. We got our money back long ago.
***
What equivalent projects is Comrade Obama (PBUH) working on now? No building proven nuclear power plants and getting cheaper reliable electricity. No offshore and Alaskan drilling and using our own oil resources to defund terrorist supporting and enemy states. No lowering our imports of foreign oil and improving our balance of payments.
***
However, it’s O.K. to waste our money on “green” energy sources that are less reliable, provide more expensive power, and have shorter life times.
***
And these “greenie” fools want to tear down our dams and kill our agriculture to save a few fish!

A balanced-budget amendment came painfully close to happening in the 90′s. But a RINO from Oregon, Mark Hatfield, cast the deciding vote against it in the Senate. The wasteful spending of Bushama is a direct descendant of his criminally stupid vote.
Did you pump up your tires like he asked?
Billions upon billions of dollars in grants to cities and states and still they raise taxes and 40+ some of them are in dire straits. Has midnight basketball emptied our prisons yet? I would think at mid night honest people are either working or sleeping to be ready for work the next day–but that is just the self hating minority in me.
Let see if we can’t stimulate the unemployment rate up a point or two for Arizona’s 15th Congressional District which does not exist. Now there is a success story Bambi can brag about tonight.
But Arizona’s 15th Congressional District is doing great.
