Zzzzz: Two not-so-sharp responses to Obama’s SOTU

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 27, 2010 11:50 PM

Obama was supposed to set a “new tone” in Washington tonight. Don’t think he meant the tone to sound like snoring.

Janet Napolitano should have brought her Snuggie to the State of the Union Address. Here she is putting the “nap” in Napolitano:

(hat tip: Cristy Li)

Harry Reid forgot to drink his Red Bull, too: Zzzzzzz.

What happened to Obama campaigning on “Ready to lead on Day 1″? Using the argument that the economy is ‘worse than we thought’ and admiting to all the mistakes he has made, only proves his inexperience and that he was nowhere near ready for the Presidency.

“Who are you going to call at 3AM?” Once again Obama has only continued to prove its not him.

My husband made me listen to “some” of the speech because, as a military member, he wanted to be informed of what the enemy thought and was up to.

I pretty much already knew what he was going to say and the fact that his “magic charisma” doesn’t seem to be working on his own fellow, political travelers is even more compelling.

The speech was a BORE!!! One of the most unappealing, polarizing, contradicting speeches I’ve heard.

This pathetic excuse for a man makes Clinton look like a conservative. An ironic thought if there ever was one.

I went to bed rather than suffer this speech. From the news reports and commentary, it appears to be a disaster. For once, I support Reid and Napolitano–their rest is far more important than doggedly slogging through a politically horrid nightmare of a SOTU. What little I have heard indicates some of his advisers need to be sent packing. Picking a public fight with the SCOTUS is not wise.

You’ll be pleased to know last night I asked my almost 15-year-old to identify the two people behind Obama, and he was correct on both counts. Fortunately, the kid wasn’t there to watch the speech in person because what with his snorts of disbelief and howls of laughter, he was far more vocal than Joe Wilson could ever hope to be.

That had to have been the most boring and disingenuous speech I’ve ever seen. He may have been praised for oratory before, but that speech wasn’t even remotely good.

His comments on health care were incoherent. He said ‘if you come up with a plan that reduces premiums. . . ‘ his plan didn’t reduce premiums, it just used federal tax dollars to pay for the premiums over a certain amount. Other than those comments he really didn’t say anything different than he’s said for the past 8 months.

His claim that he didn’t negotiate with lobbyists forgets that the UNIONS ARE A LOBBY.

He talked about ‘ENDING’ the war in Iraq and bringing home troops in August. I support bringing our troops home, but don’t you think the rhetorical genius speech writers he has might put it in context of VICTORY? Instead of saying ‘I’m going to end this war and bring home the troops in August’, why not say the same thing by saying ‘Since our soldiers have done so well and have won the peace, we get to bring them home in August’? It’s the same policy but presented in a light of a Commander in Chief that appreciates both the military and victory by that military.

The speech was entirely unimpressive. . . and I was hoping to like it. It’s is exceedingly obvious that Obama only has people around him telling him how right and good he is. That’s a recipe for disaster for him.

OH yeah, I also got a kick out of his complaining about the last decade, or the last 10 years. . . TO THE PEOPLE THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM!

Bush was less the problem with spending than congress was. He should have turned around and pointed at the two people behind him who have been DC constituents for the past 30 years and said THEY were the problem.

Bush was never the problem, Congress is the only branch of government with the power of the purse. That 1 T deficit that Obama ‘inherited’ was compliments of Reid and Pelosi, not Bush.

He was complaining about the problem to the people who caused the problem while blaming someone else who has no power at all.

Watching Comrade Obama (PBUH), VP Joe Biden, and SanFranNan all together in the picture for a long time is scary. No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 most important people in our government–and the American People don’t have a friend among these clueless clowns.
    ***
I was able to “tough it out” all the way through The Messiah’s speech as He told us how He plans to “stay the course” of his policies. They have worked so well so far–keep up the good work all the way into the Nov. 2010 elections! The beer and Jack Daniels with cola and lime helped me “dull the pain” a little.
    ***
I didn’t like the republican response to this speech much. The Sarah’Cuda or John Bolton would have handed The One his head on a plate by comparison. The American Voters will have to do this work in 2010 and 2012–we are toast until then.
