Screw up, move up: Bernanke re-nominated

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 28, 2010 04:24 PM

The final vote in the Senate on the Federal Reserve chairman’s re-nomination this afternoon was 70-30.

Among the Republicans supporting Ben Bernanke: Alexander, Barrasso, Coburn, Cochran, Collins, Enzi, Graham, Gregg, Hatch, Kyl, Lugar, McConnell, Murkowski, Voinovich, and Snowe.

Seven Senators switched their votes after voting for cloture (the procedural vote was 77-23).

Via The Hill’s Jordan Fabian, they were: Boxer, Franken, Harkin, Dorgan, Kaufman, Whitehouse, LeMieux.

I’ll post the roll call as soon as it goes up on the Senate website.

Meantime, how about revisiting the witlessness and un-wisdom of Bernanke?

Screw up, move up:

***

Sen. Jim DeMint tweets: “By confirming Bernanke, the Senate rubber-stamped a failed economic policy. Bernanke’s easy-money policy fueled the housing bubble and his push for Wall Street bailouts made things worse.”

Obama inherits Bush policy — and keeps it.

We gotta get this straight; either we don’t believe in Keynesian theory (most conservatives don’t) and therefore shouldn’t worry about B’s reappointment, or we believe strongly in Keynesian theory and should have a Keynesian like B in place. The only thing that worries me is that BO likes him.

I’m not that worried because I don’t see the central bank being that powerful, and he’s doing more to disrupt traditional economic thought than any Nobel laureate.

Well, did anyone think the idiots in the Senate who are complicit in this financial meltdown wouldn’t vote for Bernanke?

There were a couple of surprises but with 59 left-wing Marxists and about a baker’s dozen idiot GOP occupying space in the Senate there was no way Bernanke wasn’t going to get confirmed.

Firing him would have exposed Geithner and others so they had to keep him on. I won’t be surprised if he resigns before completing his term though. But, I do expect the shredders at the Fed will be working overtime the night before his term is up.

Another vote that seat warmer Paul Kirk had no business making.

Once again the DemocRATS have ignored the voice of the people. You know, the voice that Teddy said was so vital be heard – oh, never mind; that was back when he wanted to stop a RePUBlican [their enunciation] from appointing a successor to his seat [not!].

Now that we the people have spoken, as usual they’re ignoring us.

Do they really think we’re not paying attention? That we’re stupid?

Scratch that – we know that they do. OB said so in so many words.

Then again, the other side of this coin would be to boot Bernanke – Then Dear Leader appoints another Van Jonesesque Ivy League socialist economist which the silly senate would happily confirm.

Compared with who The One et al would come up with, perhaps Bernanke doesn’t look that bad.
